Have my SERP listings been hacked?
-
When you Google my site the organic search results look normal. The preview site images even display my actual site when you roll over the results. However, when you click a result you are directed to various Spam pages, not my website. How is this possible?
This only happens when you click through from search engines. If you type the URL directly in your browser, you are not redirected to a spam site.
the site: funeralhomeoptions.com
Have any of you seen or experienced this before?

Hi Emily
Just making sure you're all set. I can't seem to replicate the issue any more and I see you have the latest version of WordPress installed now.
If you need any further reference on securing WordPress this is a nice guide on their site - Hardening WordPress
The rest of the advise here looks great, thanks so much Majid and Nakul for helping out!

That would be ok if you use these plugin as well :

Interesting link Majid. It does detect the malware on Emily's website.

Clearly, it's the code injection we have been talking. I hope you are able to find the malicious code and remove it.

This is a code injection kind of spam that you have been hit with. I suggest you go ahead and upgrade your wordpress to the latest version as well as the plugins and themes.
The code injection is either placed within mySQL database in the wp_options table or inside your header files.

It could be your site is hacked and malware added on your site code. I had the similar attack before. It takes away your search engine traffic to another site (it doesn't redirect you if you are logged in so sometime people never notice it).

You should check index.php file or header.php and ... in your template folder and .htaccess files as well.

I've heard of this before with Wordpress being hacked. I'm having one of our associates who is an expert at WP come over and comment and help walk you through a fix.

Spammers created bad links to old hacked domain, now redirected to our new domain. Advice?
My client had an old site hacked (let's call it "myolddomain.com") and the hackers created many links in other hacked sites with links such as http://myolddomain.com/styless.asp?jordan-12-taxi-kids-cheap-T8927.html The old myolddomain.com site was redirected to a different new site since then, but we still see over a thousand spam links showing up in the new site's Search Console 404 crawl errors report. Also, using the links: operator in google search, we see many results of spam links. Should we be worried about these bad links pointing to our old site and redirecting to 404s on the new site? What is the best recommendation to clean them up? Ignore? 410s? Other? I'm seeing conflicting advice out there. The old site is hosted by the client's previous web developer who doesn't want to clean anything up on their end without an ongoing hosting contract. So beyond turning redirects on or off, the client doesn't want to pay for any additional hosting. So we don't have much control over anything related to "myolddomain.com". 😞 Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Home Page Deindexed Only at Google after Recovering from Hack Attack
Hello, Facing a Strange issue, wordpress blog hghscience[dot]com was hacked by someone, when checked, I found index.php file was changed & it was showing some page with a hacked message, & also index.html file was added to the cpanel account. All pages were showing same message, when I found it, I replaced index.php to default wordpress index.php file & deleted index.htmlI could not find any other file which was looking suspicious. Site started working fine & it was also indexed but cached version was that hacked page. I used webmaster tool to fetch & render it as google bot & submitted for indexing. After that I noticed home page get deindexed by google. Rest all pages are indexing like before. Site was hacked around 30th July & I fixed it on 1st Aug. Since then home page is not getting indexed, I tried to fetch & index multiple time via google webmasters tool but no luck as of now. 1 More thing I Noticed, When I used info:mysite.com on google, its showing some other hacked site ( www.whatsmyreferer.com/ ) When Searching from India But when same info:mysite.com is searched from US a different hacked site is showing ( sigaretamogilev.by )However when I search "mysite.com" my site home page is appearing on google search but when I check cached URL its showing hacked sites mentioned above. As per my knowledge I checked all SEO Plugins, Codes of homepage, can't find anything which is not letting the homepage indexed.PS: webmaster tool has received no warning etc for penalty or malware. I also noticed I disallowed index.php file via robots.txt earlier but now I even removed that. 7Dj1Q0w.png 3krfp9K.png

Listing Categories on each page versus in the drop-down navigation; which is better for SEO
My client, www.warehouse-lighting.com, has all the links to its category pages on a left-side navigation structure. Their competitor, www.prolighting.com has all of its category-page links listed under the drop-down menu of the top-level navigation. I’m wondering if one way is better than the other for SEO and why?

Google places listing gone crazy
I have a google places listing that was doing great and was consantly on the top 3 for most of it's keywords. About 3 weeks ago google declined my listing (it was on the same account with other listings that violated google guidelines). The listing still showed up on google while it being reviewed (i assumed that it because this listing didn't violate an guideline.) About a week ago google started showing reviews from Insiderpages with my listing that belonged to a competitor. Today, they fixed that and added a link to my right insiderpages page but weird things started to happen.... My listing started to appear as a NON VERIFIED liting. My website is no longer on the listing. The phone number listed on the listing belong to a competitor!! All the citations are still mine including one from my site! Should i report it to google? i'm hesitating to do so, we are loosing a lot of business as it is with most of our listings down and i'm afraid this might be a small error that if i'll address will take longer to solve. My listing link: http://maps.google.com/maps/place?um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=appliance+repair+nyc&fb=1&gl=us&hq=appliance+repair&hnear=0x89c24fa5d33f083b:0xc80b8f06e177fe62,New+York,+NY&cid=14321731230878083852&ei=01AXTum3J4mmsQKl_KxS&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=placepage-link&resnum=9&ved=0CJ0BEOIJMAg Thanks!!

I have a SERP result thats started returning a dud URL all of a sudden, any ideas why?
SERP "French Furniture" in google.co.uk The URL thats started to be returned P7 is <cite>www.thefurnituremarket.co.uk/ categories.asp?cat=</cite> The meta description is relevant however our CMS system 'ecommerce templates' has some code in it to return a dynamic meta description dependant on what catergory is being searched. It seems that the meta description is being populated from our french furniture category but the URL is not dynamic.. This has only started happening this past week. usually the url http://www.thefurnituremarket.co.uk/french_furniture.asp is returned. in WMT is is nicely indexing with 5 links... on it's own... Any ideas?
