Html V magento
-
Please excuse what seem like a naive question we are In process of updating our site from old fashioned html pages to magento store. Our html page ranks well and I don't want to upset the spiders when they find something different. We are keeping all the same content images etc. Is there any reason the magento page should not do as well as the existing html. URL is staying the same. We are think of replacing a few pages at a time rather than replacing everything on one go. Is that necessary?

Hi Tim,
I think you should do the migration all at once.
Make sure you 301 every page or at least the most important ones.
This video might help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1lVPrYoBkA
Magento is great platform, but if not well implement it became very slow. If you 301 your old pages for a much slower page or a page with very different content you might have problems. As long you make sure you content is aligned and your mageto site is fast you'll be fine.

Hi Tim,
When you move over google will pick up that you are using a new CMS for your website because the coding and structure will all be different. Aslong as you are going to have the same SEO and structure (url's) done google should recognize it, but to guarantee that you will still have the same ranking after google crawled on your "new site" is not possible.
So I would recommend you stay up too date with your SEO optimisation, and keep a keen eye on on ranking as you switch over.
You should rather replace the whole site at once so that you will have a quality site, and when it comes to optimising its all done on the same CMS which will make your life a lot easier and less confusing.
Hope this help and feel free to ask if something didn't make sense or if you would like to know more.
Regards,

Hey Tim,
I agree with your strategy.
There should be little reason why the same content would change in ranking. If the text, the internal linking, the # of pages are the same, the url's... the spiders shouldn't be bothered much.
I also think changing a few pages at a time is the strategic thing to do.

Ajax Pagination in Magento Question
Hi, We just launched our new theme for Magento and my developer stated the pagination uses Ajax. Previously I had the developers set up rel prev/next for all our pages (categories/ecommerce site) that had multiples. He said it's not required with Ajax. Is this correct? Example: https://www.bestpricenutrition.com/whey.html and when you go to Page 2, the URL shows: https://www.bestpricenutrition.com/whey.html? I want to make sure these pages are set up correctly.

301 redirect with Magento; still Page authority 0 after 6 weeks
Hi Mozzers! In December '14 I have execute a 301 redirect in the 'old' page in the admin of my Magento store. Now I was surprised to see that the Page Authority is still 0 of the new page 6 weeks after the execution. should I have seen the update of the PA on the new page already after 6 weeks of time? If yes, then I assume that my Magento didn't execute this properly? Old url: http://hippemamashop.nl/mama/boeken/fotoalbum.html

Hiding Price html component for all countries except US
Hello everybody, We are planning to have a new website soon, which will be an E-Commerce website for people from the US, and non E-Commerce website for people from other countries. In other words, in the poduct pages, we would like to have the price of the product shown to the users from the US, and on the other hand we would like it to be invisible for users outside of the US. We thought about setting the html elelment of the price to be visible only for US users (by ip). My question is - can Google crawler see this as potential cloacking, since we hide some of the content to some of the users (while google might scan it from US iip address)? Thanks in advance...

SEO changing from Wix Flash too Wix HTML
I have a Wix flash website www.theonlinefloorwarehouse.com.au which is number one in Google search for most of our main products Due to having a large number of changes and the draw backs with flash I pads etc I have rebuilt it in Wix HTML temporarily under this URL www.laminateflooringperth.net.au/ Now I find out Wix uses Ajax technology which most people say is useless for SEO after months of work I do not know weather to switch to the HTML site or not perhaps I should use both sites ? Has any one switched to HTML from Flash, was there a drop in or higher rankings ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Regards John

HTML Forms Dilute Pagerank?
Today, we have way too many links on our homepage. About 30 of them are add-to-basket links (regular html links) pointing to a separate application. This application 302 redirects the client back to the referring page. I have two questions: 1. Does the current implementation of our buttons dilute pagerank? Bear in mind the 302 redirect. 2. If the answer to the first question is yes, would transforming the buttons into form buttons change anything to the better? We would still 302 back to the referring page. I know Gbot follows GET forms and even POST forms, but does GBot pass on pagerank to the form URL?

Restaurant menu SEO: PDF or HTML?
Is it better to use a PDF or hard code restaurant menus (or any document for that matter) in HTML? I want the content to be indexed and thought PDF was the way to go for several reasons, but I wanted to get confirmation on this before I move forward.

I need some HTACCESS help (Magento)
Hi Guys, I need some help on this htaccess issue in Magneto. So here is what I am trying to do: I wanted to change mysite.com/index.php/etc to mysite.com/etc so I turned on the web friend URLS. That did that, BUT there are still two versions of every page on the site. www.mysite.com/etc and mysite.com/index.php/etc So that isn't good for SEO. So then I applied a 301 matching redirect, RedirectMatch 301 /index.php/(.*) http://www.mysite.com/$1 That solved that problem. But now I am not able to log into the admin. It is mysite.com/index.php/pg45admin. It should redirect to mysite.com/pg45admin but the page just hangs.... It goes into a continuous loop. I tired using the custom URL and then the site crashed and I had to redo it. So what do I need to do for this to work?
