YouTube hosting question
-
The "How it works" video that is embedded on my sites homepage is currently linked to an individual YouTube account not our company account.
I would like to change the ownership so that the company profile can enjoy the added views (currently 13K +). Is there a way to move the video to a different account without losing the views it has already accumulated?
Also, a related technical question - our R&D team says the video is slowing down the site. It links to YouTube but there is nothing in the source of our page about YouTube. Any suggestions for embedding it more effectively?
-
No, you can't migrate the video.
in terms of embedding - an iframe is super lightweight. Just embed a YouTube iframe and you should be fine.

I agree with Moosa I think you can probably move your account without losing the views however I would not understand why you would want to move it but regardless. I think a great tool for what Moosa he is talking about with the JavaScript is feed the bot's page speed if you follow instructions in this you can optimize your site for speed and see some pretty dramatic changes.

I think YouTube is very slow unfortunately even though it is an extremely powerful platform video is bandwidth hungry and without looking at your URL I could not tell you if I believed that your video embeds were slowing down the site however I doubt it. Sorry for the long post but this I think is relevant to your question regarding Site speed and video hosting.
as far is changing the ownership of your YouTube account I do believe that your views follow your videos to a new account.
I do not believe there is a way to move your videos to a different account without losing the shown views however if they are doing this well anyway you can move it to a video host like Wistia and simply let your customers know on YouTube that your new videos are at the link below the video you once had hosted on YouTube.
In Wistia you can show the amount of view's you may even want to talk to the company and explain your situation they may simply give you the credit for their views on YouTube on their service.
I do not know if you want to get traffic to your website or not but I would look at Wistia.com for the reasons described here
http://wistia.com/learning/advanced-seo-with-distilled
on top of that if you are doing things that teach people how to do things related to your business a good example would be whiteboard Friday and that is spoken about right here

definitely check out your sites weaknesses and strengths using the tools below.
You may also want to buy screaming frog SEO spider this will allow you to check for multiple problems but before you spend money on that in less you need it for something else definitely use these free tools below specially Google pageSpeed
http://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

http://www.feedthebot.com/tools/
you might just need to add a content delivery network or have your site audited use real user measurement to determine how slow your site really is Neustar , CopperEgg NewRelic & Pingdom are excellent for this purpose.
As far as speed up your existing infrastructure if you are happy where you are I would look at edge cast, Max CDN, cloud proxy and cloud flare though I do not think very highly of the last offer cloud flare.
I do not want to say it is not possible, but it sounds to me like you have an issue with their coding or with your hosting company.
Are you on a shared server? If so look at faster servers. If you want managed I like firehost.com their fast and they are safe There also around USD400 a month if you want to spend less than USD50 and get very fast hosting
check out speedy rails or Linode
https://www.speedyrails.com/ starting at USD15 a month for a VPS with SSD's and edge cast CDN that is a pretty sweet deal. There also throwing in DynECT DNS and all of this out of Peer1 data centers.
https://www.linode.com/ now has amazing SSD's
If you do not want to spend much money at all no worries you can get into a very fast host for under five dollars today
now if you do not care about managed hosting you can get excellent speed and service from both of these companies for prices starting literally under five dollars per a SSD VPS
here are a couple others of all types of prices that I know are good.
If you want managed hosting and a VPS will do these are in the $50 up range
http://www.servint.net/ssd-vps-about.php
https://www.linode.com/managed note this company was provided above as well they have both non-managed and unmanaged
http://www.liquidweb.com/StormServers/ssd.html
http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/servers/
if you want what I think is the best then take a look at fire host
I hope this answer was what you were looking for. I Tried to touch on everything with out knowing if you are talking about moving off of YouTube or not hopefully this is helpful to you.

I don’t think there is any way you can shift the video to a different account without losing the videos and shares on that video. I am not really an expert but doing this does not make any sense to me!
As far as embedded code is concern, if you are using the one that is available on Youtube, the website should not slow down as the video is not hosted on your website. My advice would be to check some other JS in the header or on the page and see if you can optimize them as this usually cause a delay in page load time.
Hope this helps!
Again, I never played with videos much so my comment can’t be considered as expert opinion.

Question about Topics and subjects of sentences
Hello, This might be a bit of technical question but how is google linking entities together ? I understand that when writing a piece of content I need to cover multiple topics (which are also entities as far as I understand). Then, in order for google to link multiple entities together my guess is that my sentence needs to be written in subject, predicate, object format ? where my topic / entity comes out as the subject of the sentence. For example if I write that: "Tuscany is a famous for it's rolling hills?, here the subject is Tuscany which is what I want as it one of the topics I want to cover. But let's say that instead I write:" Rolling hills is something you find everywhere in Tuscany". Here Tuscany doesn't help because it isn't a subject and is just dropped there, correct ? Concerning the attributs of my entities (the object), does google have a list of what is right of wrong. For example if I say that Washington is the capital of italy ? can I be penalised for that ? I guess this is called entity disambiguation ? If the capital of italy would also be called Washington I believe that I would be ok but see that it isn't, can it hurt ? Thank you,

Google Search Console Site Property Questions
I have a few questions regarding Google Search Console. Google Search Console tells you to add all versions of your website https, http, www, and non-www. 1.) Do I than add ALL the information for ALL versions? Sitemaps, preferred site, etc.? 2.) If yes, when I add sitemaps to each version, do I add the sitemap url of the site version I'm on or my preferred version? - For instance when adding a sitemap to a non-www version of the site, do I use the non-www version of the sitemap? Or since I prefer a https://www.domain.com/sitemap.xml do I use it there? 3.) When adding my preferred site (www or non-www) do I use my preferred site on all site versions? (https, http, www, and non-www) Thanks in advance. Answers vary throughout Google!

Canonical questions
Hi, We are working on a site that sells lots of variations of a certain type of product. (Car accessories) So lets say there are 5 products but each product will need a page for each car model so we will potentially have a lot of variations/pages. As there are a lot of car models, these pages will have pretty much the same content, apart from the heading and model details. So the structure will be something like this; Product 1 (landing page) Audi (model selection page)
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | davidmaxwell
---Audi A1 (Model detail page)
---Audi A2 (Model detail page)
---Audi A3 (Model detail page) BMW (model selection page)
---BMW 1 Series (Model detail page)
---BMW 3 Series (Model detail page) Product 2 (landing page) Audi (model selection page)
---Audi A1 (Model detail page)
---Audi A2 (Model detail page)
---Audi A3 (Model detail page) BMW (model selection page)
etc
etc The structure is like this as we will be targeting each landing page for AdWords campaigns. As all of these pages could look very similar to search engines, will simply setting up each with a canonical be enough? Is there anything else we should do to ensure Google doesn't penalise for duplicate page content? Any thoughts or suggestions most welcome.

Flip-Flopping domains - 301 redirect question
We have a client who has had the following domain setup for some time: longdomain.com 301 -> shortdomain.com Now, they would like to go back to the original longdomain.com, and will have the following setup: shortdomain.com 301 -> longdomain.com Obviously, I'm concerned about redirect loops cached in the browser. I plan to have the 301's from longdomain.com changed over to 302's for two weeks ahead of the change, so that hopefully when the change happens, browsers and search engines are more ready to respond. I also plan to establish rel=canonical on the longdomain.com pages after the switch. Is there anything else you'd recommend to help with the changeover? Should we plan for an intermediary period were both domains are serving the content, so that the redirects can be purged, before being re-established the other direction? Thanks in advance.

Launching V2 of my site - what questions to ask the SEO Agency
Hi I am in the process of launching a new version of my site and I know I need to get my current SEO Agency to check and test certain aspects of the site so that I don't lose any rankings. The problem is I am unsure of everything to ask them and I was wondering if someone could help me out. I don't want to have missed something basic and therefore want to give them a checklist to confirm they are happy before go live. Any help appreciated

Domain and Sitemap Question
Hi - I am hoping you can help me with this issue we are currently trying to solve. We are hosting our mobile site's content on a different domain than what the URL of the site is, though owned by same company. In Google Webmasters tool we have the mobile sitemap under "sitemaps.xyz.com", however the URL of the site is "m.xyz.com". We have submitted 60MM pages in the mobile sitemap, but only 1MM pages have been indexed. Do you think this set up causes confusion with the bots? Does this affect the crawlability of the site? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

2013 Panda Update Question
Hi everyone, I'm new here 🙂 So far I've had wonderful success seo wise and none of the updates (Penguin nor Panda) affected any sites, until this one. For example, one site has 7 keywords I'm optimizing for. Out of those 7, all but 2 (and variations of the 2 - one word vs long-tail) completely tanked. These keywords were all on page 2/3. One of the two survivors never budged from page 2 (it's a brand keyword so I was sooo happy to finally get it to page 2) Now when I check rankings, the other terms show up in the 200-400 spots, but NOT for the URL I was optimizing for (category page) but instead for random products in the category. The only thing I've done differently with the 2 keywords that are still doing well, was focus - we did more link-building for those, but not an extreme amount. Never over-optimize. My question is, how did 2 survive and 5 are still floating up and down. Last night I saw one go up 122 spots, now today down 14. I'm really struggling with this. Thank you

Merging several domains into one, a redirection question
Hi, We have a client who recently acquired a bunch of domains in all kinds of niches, each domain has a WordPress site on it, with content and backlinks. Clients wants to "merge" all these domains into categories in his "main website", moving content and "moving" backlinks as well. The syntax we came up with is the following: (sample domains of course)
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | MandLoys
potatomixers.com will be updated with .htaccess 301 redirect:
Redirect 301 /fastpotatomixer.htm http://www.mainwebsite.com/home-appliances/fastpotatomixer 1.) I'm not sure about the domain's root though. Where would I redirect potatomixers.com, to mainwebsite.com/home-appliances? Won't that be a problem that the new one is a "larger" category that has other posts as well, not only potatomixers? 2.) If this gets into the .htaccess (with several other lines for the other content as well of course), won't the first line "override" all the other ones? Redirect 301 / http://www.mainwebsite.com/home-appliances/
Redirect 301 /fastpotatomixer.htm http://www.mainwebsite.com/home-appliances/fastpotatomixer
Redirect 301 /easypotatomixer.htm http://www.mainwebsite.com/home-appliances/easypotatomixer etc. Thanks!0
