My site's articles seem to never show up in Google.
-
This is in regards to a previous post that was answered for me:
http://moz.com/community/q/my-site-s-name-not-ranking-in-googleI was talking to a friend and he suggested I try to type in an article in google with the exact name followed by my site's domain name without the .com
For example, I have an article entitled:
"MULTITASKING IS BAD FOR YOU, MKAY?"
Obviously it's a title most would not word in that way.
I typed it in and followed it up with my site's domain minus .com.
So "MULTITASKING IS BAD FOR YOU, MKAY? ctrl-alt-success"
But I'm not even getting listed in the search.
There's got to be something I'm missing. I understand backlinks are important for ranking, but when I'm trying to find an exact match along with my site's url minus the .com?
I just have this strong hunch that something is awry.
NOTE: It seems this is only with google. If I use Bing or Yahoo, it comes up just fine.

The only results I've seen is "x-rated" lol
I had an article called "My X-Rated Secret" which was in no way adult oriented.
Other than that, I have really random words like:
x-rated 2
xrated 2
alt 1
ctrl 1

Your other question said that you get zero organic visits from Google. You'd want to look in AWstats and GWT to see if they show any evidence of Google sending you traffic.
-
Hey Travis, (I have an old friend named Travis Bailey btw!)
I did do the Site:ctrl-alt-success.com search and that came up fine, but I was curious why Google wouldn't find it if I did it the other way, but Bing and Yahoo find it just fine.
And you said my GA tag looks a little weird, the only thing I've done differently with GA is I updated to the universal analytics that came out. Hope I didn't screw anything up. lol

Hey Keri,
Thanks for the suggestions. I never really used AWstats before but I do have access to it via my Cpanel. Not entirely sure what to look for, but I'll check it out and see if anything stands out to me.
Webmaster Tools hasn't given me any errors that I've noticed. I've fetched the site and everything seems to be good.
Something I didn't think about - I use Hostgator. But I've been using an older site: kaos-incorporated.com (no longer active, was just using it for a forum) as the primary hostgator domain.
ctrl-alt-success.com is an addon domain. So although my domain is ctrl-alt-success.com, in AWStats the site is listed as "ctrl-alt-success.kaos-incorporated.com".
Could that have any bearing on why Google may have some issues ranking me?
-
Search Operators are your friend. site:ctrl-alt-success.com intext:MULTITASKING IS BAD FOR YOU, MKAY
The Googles have found you just fine. Just remember, site:anything.com. It appears that your GA tag does look a little weird, but it seems to be firing just fine.

When I search "Multitasking is Bad for You, Mkay" in Google, I do get your site, though as the last out of four results (in incognito search).
Have you checked to make sure your Analytics code is properly installed? Do you have access to server logs, such as awstats, where you could look for a "second opinion" to see if GA is misconfigured and you are getting organic traffic from Google?
When you went into Google Webmaster tools to fetch as googlebot (from the answer in the previous question), did you have any messages in GWT? Also, look at the information given to you there about the impressions and clicks you're getting to also help see if Google is actually sending you traffic.
-
Absolutely, sorry I thought I included that.
-
Can you post a link to your site so we can see some articles? It is hard to deduce the issue without seeing part of the problem.

Use of '&' in meta title
Hi, I know that use of '&' would be helpful to save space and also add more keyword variation to the title tag. But just want to make sure if it matters if I use '&' in most of my title tags? And also is it common to use more than & in one title? Would the following title be different in Google's perspective regardless of the title length? I am thinking they are all targeting the keywords 'fruit cake' and 'fruit bread', but the first one is the best. buy fruit cake & bread buy fruit cake & fruit bread buy fruit cake and fruit bread Thanks in advance.

Duplicate content on partner site
I have a trade partner who will be using some of our content on their site. What's the best way to prevent any duplicate content issues? Their plan is to attribute the content to us using rel=author tagging. Would this be sufficient or should I request that they do something else too? Thanks

Can't find Text-Only Cached version in Google search
Hi, I'm trying to view the text-only of a webpage to run a SEO audit, however Google does not give me this option. When i click the two arrows that appear to the right of a search result, the only option I get is Cached. Is there a reason this might be happening? I've tried clearing my cookies, signing out of Google, and anything else I could find on my troll of the internet. I also tried text, only please! however whether this works or not is debatable considering it shows me actual pictures on the site. Any ideas, or maybe another add-on that will work?

Post Title - Use the blog's name or not?
In the tile of my post, shoudl I used my blog's name in it at the end or emit the blog name. EX: title of post with keywords | name of blog OR EX: title of post with keywords The site's name is 3 words long, so I'm worrying that those extra words are diluting the keywords in the post's name that I'm trying to target.
