Reset my MOZ Account?
-
I recently redesigned my 2 websites. Both are large 80+ page sites with unique text on every page, no keyword stuffing and generally using all the proper SEO techniques ( I hired a professional w/ 10 years experience). My pages rank for the targeted terms, but MOZ reports say "Not in the Top 50". I had friends run "Clean Searches" from the west coast and we were ranking. Prior to the redesign, I used MOZ and the reports were very accurate. Should I reset my MOZ account or what?

When connecting Google Analytics you would need to use the email address that manages the profile for the specific domain. It helps to not be logged into Google when connecting so you can be prompted to log in with the correct credentials.
Let me know if that helps!

one last question for now. When I set up the new accounts it did not give me any other option than to pick my google analytics for my heritageprintingcharlotte.com site when I was doing the heritageprinting.com account. Is there a way to override that to allow me to select my google analytics for heritageprinting.com?
-
Anytime!
-
thanks. will do.
-
No problem Joseph,
They are not in the top 50 for www.heritageprinting.com which is the URL you are tracking in your campaign.
The URL needs to be heritageprinting.com without the "www" which involves creating a new campaign.
-
Thanks for your help. So how is it that some of the keyword phrases on heritageprinting.com are actually ranking if this is the case?
-
backdrops dc #1 and #2 shows up not in top 50 in your rankings
character cutouts #1 shows up not in top 50
-
Hi Joseph
Your campaigns are set to track only the www-version of the sites and your site is resolving as the root domain so what you will need to do is archive both of your campaigns and re-create them and type the URL without the www so we you can match how the site resolves on Google.
A url with www is a sub-domain and one without is a root domain.
Hope this helps

Two weeks ago I deleted and reentered all of the key phrases for our heritage charlotte account because of the inaccuracies I was seeing after the new heritageprintingcharlotte.com launched in February. Most all of our phrases where ranking in the top 10 with moz before the new site went up and after the new site went up it became very inaccurate. Now only one of 85 phrases is showing a ranking even though most are in the top 20. Some of the many examples are:
Magazine Printing Charlotte #4 and #5
commercial printers charlotte #4
direct mail printers charlotte #8
I could continue endlessly. Check for yourself. Most every phrase is ranking but is not showing up that way on your tool. Not very helpful now.
this same thing is happening on our DC campaign for heritageprinting.com as well.
Very frustrating. How do we get this to work again so we can get accurate information.
Your help would be appreciated.

Hi Joseph
Going back to my first reply, how does those sites resolve on search engines when you are checking the keywords?
Can you give me an example of a keyword that is ranking for your site but not showing in top 50 in moz?
-
Good morning. Since we launched the new versions of our websites heritageprinting.com and heritageprintingcharlotte.com in January and February respectively, the keyword phrase rankings went from being extremely accurate of our position with google to be extremely inaccurate of most of our rankings with google. How do we correct this so that our subscription to moz for this tool becomes valuable again. It is very frustrating to have to go manually into each phrase to see how we are ranking. very time consuming. please help.
-
Hi Joseph
You can archive/delete campaigns at anytime at analytics.moz.com/manage-campaigns which is where you can add new websites up to the account limit of 5 for the trial/standard subscriptions.
-
David,
Thanks for your timely reply.
"this is likely the culprit which will require a "reset" by creating a new campaign." Does this mean I need to cancel my subscription and create a new account or simply "reset" my current account? Please advise on reset instructions if the latter is probable.
-
Hey Joseph!
When checking your keywords online is your site resolving as a sub-domain or root-domain? If your campaign is set to track just www.domain.com but on Google your site appears as domain.com this is likely the culprit which will require a "reset" by creating a new campaign.
Check your settings and see if "Tracking this subdomain" is noted for the site which means we are only looking for results for that specific URL.
Hope this helps!

Change email address just for communication with Moz
I want to keep my email address as it is now for all of my profiles, however to manage my MOZ account I prefer that my assistant get the emails. If I change my email address on the Moz account will that trigger a change anywhere else? Thanks, Cindy Cindy@PTScoaching.com

Analytic goals in Moz
We should have the ability to see any and all conversions goals, as defined in analytics, in Moz. After all, the whole point of marketing, SEO, PPC, Social, etc. is to drive sales or leads that create sales right? So, why should we have a dashboard tool that doesn't show us the 1 thing that ultimately matters the most? I understand that Moz simply wasn't designed to do this, but I think that should change. After all, we are in this to make money I hope. My 2 Cents. Micha

On Page Optimization and Page Grader in Moz Needs Some Fixes
Okay, so I've brought this up a couple times to your team and have always been met with resistance and confusion, but I really feel like the fundamental design of your on page grader (the auto one) needs some changes in order to be really useful. Let's start with the basics. An on page grader is supposed to be a tool where you can enter your keyword or keywords and have it scan the URL to see how well the keyword has been implemented on the page. It checks for heading use, anchor text, alt tags, frequency of use, etc. We all should get this if we are here. Now, your manual page grader does just that and does a great job of it. I find it very useful for checking newly created pages, landing pages, competitor pages and the like. However, your auto version found in the Search > On-Page Optimizations is the culprit here. So, according to several staff at Moz, this tool scans your site every week when the rest of your site scan is done. It then takes the rankings of pages for ranked and tracked keywords and assigns a grade for that page. Here's the major problem.... in almost all of my accounts, it very rarely gets the association with keyword and URL correct. Thus, it returns a low page grade even though the grade of the URL would be an A or B for the correct keyword. What seems to be happening is I'm tracking multiple keywords, sometime close variations. This grade tool in a lot of cases is grading a page more than once for several keywords it's ranking for. All the variants it gets a low grade for because the exact keywords isn't in the title, headings, etc. The second thing that seems to be happening is some pages are not being graded using the primary keyword, but instead a variation. In this case it only shows low grades for the page. On one occurrence of trying to discuss this issue with you, I got scoffed at for saying the tool was "guessing at which keyword to use for the grade". Your staff was very adamant in saying "it's not a guess!" My counter point was, call it what you want, it's in accurate to the intended keyword to be optimized for. Now, when one first gets to this tool, all of the above doesn't seem like that big of a deal because there's an "add & manage page grade" section. This section allows you to add and manage page grades. So, one would think that you could go to this tool, add an page grades for keywords that the tool didn't automatically associate and delete ones that it added with an incorrect association and that would be the end of it. However, that's NOT quite the end of it. At your own admission, the tool doesn't function like that. Each week when a new scan is completed, these pages grades essentially reset. So any page grade that you deleted will simply show right back up again. Now, before I go any further, let me explain why this is such an issue for me. First, on page optimization is something my company does and sells as a service and we are pretty good at it. Not saying we're the best, but we're better than most. That said, one of my reasons for choosing Moz was because according to the verbiage on the pages, one can create branded reports to include on page optimization. However, when the tool doesn't get the right keyword to landing page AND there's no way to manually override it, then basically all of my reports make it look like my pages grades suck, when in face they don't. Now, if in my campaigns I only added the exact keyword for each page and didn't do any variations of, then this tools becomes much more accurate. However, I want to track multiple variations. Bottom line is this: I need a page grading and reporting tool I can count on and actually use. Thus far, you solution is riddled with problems and every time I bring it up, you fight me on it saying it's working as it's supposed to. What I'm saying here is "as it's supposed to" is fundamentally wrong. I'd like to discuss this with someone at this point, and preferably someone a bit higher up than a first tier support person because frankly, I'm not getting anywhere. Overall I love your service, but it's things like this that have me questioning wether or not Moz is right. I'm giving you opportunity after opportunity to prove to me that it is. Help me work this out so we can continue that trend. Thanks, Micha

Custom Anchor text link on Moz profile section
Hi, Does anyone know if you can modify your anchor text and URL after you reach 200 Moz points on your profile section (On the web section under image)? I am close to getting my 200 pts (btw...enjoyed the entire journey) and am trying to choose my anchor text. Here is some interesting analysis too. I have a Spanish site since we are an Argentinean firm. 1. Would a spanish word as anchor text have any value since Moz.com is an English site? I am think about semantics here and how Google likes only content relevant links. My thought is that it does today but it may not be true in the future if Google is going to do away with linkbuilding and just do semantics and co-citation. Thanks Carla
