Negative seo problem
-
Hello,
Someone attacked our website with negative SEO and our website fell drastically.
If i use bing webmaster tools link explorer i see dozens and dozens spam links but if open a link i don't find this link in that website. Is it possible that someone added the links and then remove thouse links when we got hit?
Or is it possible to hide the links that they don't show up on webpage but they are still there?
How can i use Google disavow links tool if there is no links in thouse websites but Bing link explorer shows spam domains pointing to our website.
BR,
T

Are you absolutely sure that those links are what caused your rankings to drop? When did the drop happen? There was a big Panda update around May 20 that caused a lot of sites to increase or decrease in rankings and that is all about on-page content as opposed to links.
Google is generally very good at simply discounting the links that come with negative SEO. One of my own sites was hacked recently and had thousands of links pointing to it with anchors like "ugg boots" and "michael kors". Those links showed up in ahrefs and majestic but not in Webmaster Tools. The links did not affect my rankings. I am pretty sure that the reason why they didn't appear in GWT is because Google was able to recognize it as an attack and just discount them. Still, just to be sure I collected the links from ahrefs and majestic and disavowed them.
I have still yet to see a credible case of negative SEO working on a site unless that site already had a really unnatural link profile to start with.

What message did you get that says this is what happened?
View the source code of the linked page(s) in question. Most likely you will see it listed there. Use the disavow tool to get rid of them, and also try reporting the page in question to Google as spam-related. Chances are you are not the only url affected if they are hiding links in code, and you could potentially get that linking domian penalized if it's participating in bad practices such as "link hiding".
"bing webmaster tools link explorer"
Meh. Use the MOZ open site explorer or majestic seo link checker to get another overview. One thing you don't want to do is jump to conclusions, and get all panicked over something like this. Get organized, list out the linking domains in question, and take action. Could be possible that one of the directories you signed up for listed you in other places you were not aware of. Happens all the time. Sign up for a questionable link directory or citation, and soon enough, lots of mystery inbound links appear.

can you post an example of the links that webmaster tools is showing?
Have you checked in the source code of the website? It might be in white text or something. If you have a well built, well optimised website with a range of good links, negative SEO doesn't normally work. Google is very good at knowing when to not count a link and I'd just concentrate on building more good links because this will negate any effect that negative SEO would have on your website.

SEO Migration Options
Hi Guys, We have a www.sitename.com.au domain name and looking to move into the US market, and other markets in the future such as UK, Canada, etc. We are reviewing our options. Currently the .com.au is ccTLD to Australia so won't perform well in US. It seems the best option at this stage is to get a generic domain Generic top-level domains (gTLDs) like a .com. Then create different sub-folders for each country for example: .com our main country .com/us/ target us .com/uk/ Then in Google Search Console don't set country targeting for entire domain but use Hreflang Tags to specify the targeting for each page? -- This seems like a complex strategy to execute so i just want to check if this would be a optional option? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Cheers.

Help Dealing with Sustained Negative SEO Attack
Hello, I am hoping that someone is able to help with a problem that is destroying both my business and my health. We are an ecommerce site who have been trading since 2004 and who have always had strong rankings in Google. Unfortunately, over the past couple of months, these have significantly decreased (I would estimate around 40% drop in organic traffic). We have not had a manual penalty and still have decent rankings for a lot of competitive keywords, so we think it is more likely to be an algorithmic penalty. The most likely culprit is due to a huge scale negative SEO attack that has been going on for around 18 months. Last September, we suffered a major drop in rankings as a result of the 302 hijack scheme, but after submitting a disavow file (of around 500 domains) on 12th November, we recovered on 26th November (although we now don't know whether this was due to disavow file or the Phantom III update on 19th November). After suffering another major drop at the end of June, we submitted a disavow file of 1100 domains (this the scale of the problem!). This tempoarily halted the slide, however it is getting worse again. I have attached a file from Majestic which shows the increase in the backlinks (however we are not building these). We are at a loss and desperately need help. We have contacting all the sites to try and get links removed but they are happening faster than we can contact them. We have also done a full technical audit and added around 50,000 words of unique, handwritten content, as well as continuing to work through all technical fixes and improvements. At the moment, the only thing we can think of doing is submitting a weekly disavow for all the new spammy domains that come up. The questions I have are: Is there anything we can do to stop the attack? Is this increase in backlinks likely to be the culprit for the drops (both the big drops and the subsequent weekly 10% drop)? If so, would weekly disavows solve the problem? Is this likely to take months (years?) to recover from or can it be done quicker? Can you give me any ray of light to help me sleep at night? 😞 Really appreciate any and all help. I wouldn't wish ths on anyone. Thanks,Simon

Domain Forwarding for SEO
Hey guys, I recently created a new website for a client who was ranking #1 for the term "jupiter obgyn" but they have now dropped down to #4. This happened because their old home page was at www. instead of just jupiterobgyn.com. When you type in the www. version, it does take you to the root domain but it's not carrying the old PA! The www. version of the page had a 22 PA and the new root domain hosted page is a 1. How can I fix it so that "link juice" carries over? Is this something i need to do in 1and1 (their web host) or within Wordpress? Thanks!!!

Advanced SEO question.
Hi, I manage and do the SEO for this site: www.aerlawgroup.com. If you Google "Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney", you can see I rank well (1st page). I have managed to achieve similar rankings for interior pages within the site: www.aerlawgroup.com/domestic-violence.html (Google: "Los Angeles Domestic Violence Attorney".) Here is my question. No matter how hard I try, I cannot get to the first page on Google for the search term: "Los Angeles DUI Lawyer", for the following interior page: www.aerlawgroup.com/dui.html. Is there anyway that I can pass the authority/ranking (not sure what to call it) that I have for www.aerlawgroup.com to www.aerlawgroup.com/dui.html so that internal page ranks higher for "Los Angeles DUI Lawyer"? I apologize if my question doesn't make sense. In a nutshell, I'm trying to understand if there is anyway to use the ranking I have for www.aerlawgroup.com to help me rank higher for Los Angeles DUI lawyer for the dui interior page. If not, are there any other suggestions anyone has to achieve a higher ranking? Thanks!

Mobile SEO
Hey, In the following article, Google recommended using a 301 redirect but doesn't specify why. http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/making-websites-mobile-friendly.html I assume this is to pass over link equity to the relevant mobile/desktop variation. Can anyone confirm this? Also is there any other reason? Again assuming this would keep the correct URLs in the correct index? Anything else anyone can chip in would be great. Thanks

Is IP trust a factor in SEO
Hi If my website is on an IP address that has a bad reputation with AOL for email, would Google use that as a factor in where they place us in SERPs? If so, what should I do? Matt

Hiring an SEO company
I usually do SEO myself but now its time to move on to getting on with running the business. I have found a fantastic PPC company who ONLY focus on PPC and am looking for same but for SEO. Must be based in UK and have a great portfolio of mid/large tier companies with some real life stats to back them up. Pricing must be clear and transaparent. Results must be measurable. How would you find such a company? Ironically searching on Google doesn't seem to produce the right results 😞 Alastair
