Site Wide Footer Links Exception, Any Advice ?
-
I was reading the following Q&A on site wide footer links,
http://moz.com/community/q/site-wide-links-from-another-domain-could-these-cause-a-problem
I feel my situation is slightly different however,we have lots of international sites linking to each other through these links like our sites for different counties and languages so our German, French and Spanish sites,
http://www.cirrusresearch.co.uk/
Our main UK site has always ranked very well and has never really had a problem despite always having had these followed sitewide footer links, Because of this we regularly get high amount of visitors performing English language searches from different counties and i don't think it is a bad thing having more country/language specific sites of ours available in the footer for visitors that may prefer a more localized site,
Our main website has to be at least 10+ years old at least, has a lot of strong links compared to our competitors, but the smaller German and Spanish sites are relatively smaller in size and most only 1-2 years old, my big fear is that these smaller sites would not be able to stand on there own without these footer links from our main site,
After reading the community question caused me to question this ?, should i take a leap of faith and no-follow all of these site wide footer links connecting all of our sites ? we never really had a problem ranking so i don't really see the need but would this be the best thing to do ?
Thank you,
James

Thanks,
As long as we seem to rank well i don't really see it as a problem, i do track visitors using these links also,
Thank you your answer has reassured me,
James

I would keep them followed - they are your websites, and genuine links so why not? Lots of websites do this naturally without a problem.
If any of the sites are duplicates where the only differences are regional you should make sure everything is set up to Google's liking. http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/video-expanding-your-site-to-more.html
You could remove any keywords from the anchor text if you're worried e.g. instead of
Noiselevelmeter.com | Sound Level Meters for the US & Canada just keep the URL as the link:
Noiselevelmeter.com - Sound Level Meters for the US & CanadaOr alternatively link to the other websites from your homepage only.

Hi If there is a link on a page that goes to a URL that is blocked in robots txt - is the link juice lost in the same way as when you add nofollow to a link on a page. Any help would be most appreciated.

Should I have app deep links from by m.example.com site?
Hello Mozzers I had one small question to ask regarding app deep linking. I noticed websites ike http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ & http://www.trulia.com/ only include app deep links within desktop (www) versions of their websites but not include them on their mobile (m.) versions. Is this the best way to implement app deep links? Shouldn't websites include app deep links from both mobile and desktop versions of their website. Any help or tips will be highly appreciated. Thank you mozzers in advance.

PDF on financial site that duplicates ~50% of site content
I have a financial advisor client who has a downloadable PDF on his site that contains about 9 pages of good info. Problem is much of the content can also be found on individual pages of his site. Is it best to noindex/follow the pdf? It would be great to let the few pages of original content be crawlable, but I'm concerned about the duplicate content aspect. Thanks --

Is it possible to Spoof Analytics to give false Unique Visitor Data for Site A to Site B
Hi, We are working as a middle man between our client (website A) and another website (website B) where, website B is going to host a section around websites A products etc. The deal is that Website A (our client) will pay Website B based on the number of unique visitors they send them. As the middle man we are in charge of monitoring the number of Unique visitors sent though and are going to do this by monitoring Website A's analytics account and checking the number of Unique visitors sent. The deal is worth quite a lot of money, and as the middle man we are responsible for making sure that no funny business goes on (IE false visitors etc). So to make sure we have things covered - What I would like to know is 1/. Is it actually possible to fool analytics into reporting falsely high unique visitors from Webpage A to Site B (And if so how could they do it). 2/. What could we do to spot any potential abuse (IE is there an easy way to spot that these are spoofed visitors). Many thanks in advance

Migrating a site
Hello, I have what a I think it's a noob question.. I have a medium size website and need to put it into maintenance for the next 2 months, and afterwards activate a completly new site. My client asked me to do this, cause the same people whoe run the constant flow of information on the site, are the ones who are going to develop the new site, so he wants to just close it out So... what are the steps for doing this with minimum impact on any SEO advances made this past months?.. How do I tell the search engines, Hey, just under maintenance for a while....then... i'm back in the game but this is my new structure. and the old one should go here
