Does Google monitor which links are actually followed?
-
If a link to my site is posted on another site and many people start following that link and they stay on my site for a while, and I also have GA set up, does Google factor that information back into the Google rankings? In other words, are there ways that Google tries to use clicks and bounce rates and other user behavior to determine page rank and domain rank?
Best,
Christopher -
Nikele, that's a fairly broad statement. I don't think you mean to say that if I use Bing on Firefox that they monitor what I do, provided I don't have a Google toolbar enabled.
They do keep track of many things, but you generally need to be using their search engine, or the Chrome browser, or have their toolbar installed.
They don't always reveal what factors they use in rankings, but have said that they don't use Google Analytics data in ranking.

Hi, very simple. Google monitor everything. Even if you type something in the browser end you don't push enter. So imagine about links..

Thanks for the quick response. I'm not sure I worded my question well. I'm not asking about follow versus no follow or any other attribute that can be determine by crawling the web. I'm asking about user behavior. Does Google monitor user behavior to help determine page and domain rank?
Best,

Christopher - you cover just 2 of the soft and hard values that the big G uses to give the page/domain rank.
Keep in mind that a while back - no-follow links were not crawled by the BOTS - but more recently than not - it seems that all links are crawled and given some value.
This is to ensure that you are not selling large quantities of links and or linking to adult/gambling sites.
But remember - what "gives" rank is a lot more in depth.

Are links still considered reciprocal if the link from one website is rel="nofollow" and the other isnt ?
Im working on a site that has some press coverage due in the next couple of days from quite a big site in the niche. The press outlet has requested that we link back to the content they post about us, they said the link can be rel="nofollow" if we'd prefer. Id really like to get the full benefit of the link back to our website, obviously if i did a straight link back to the 3rd party press site the links would be reciprocal and cancel each other out in terms of "link juice", but i was wandering if we make our link back to the 3rd party rel="nofollow" will we still get the full benefit of their link to us in terms of link juice ? ie. having the link back to them, but nofollow wouldn't been seen as a reciprocal link. ? (Obviously either way there is still benefit of having the link even if it reciprocal as it will send traffic to our site, but just no "link juice") Note - Ive used the phrase"Link Juice" for lack of a better term, any ideas on how else to refer to this ?

Google Indexing - what did I missed??
Hello, all SEOers~ I just renewed my web site about 3 weeks ago, and in order to preserve SEO values as much as possible, I did 301 redirect, XML Sitemap and so on for minimize the possible data losses. But the problem is that about week later from site renewal, my team some how made mistake and removed all 301 redirects. So now my old site URLs are all gone from Google Indexing and my new site is not getting any index from Google. My traffic and rankings are also gone....OMG I checked Google Webmaster Tool, but it didn't say any special message other than Google bot founds increase of 404 error which is obvious. Also I used "fetch as google bot" from webmaster tool to increase chance to index but it seems like not working much. I am re-doing 301 redirect within today, but I am not sure it means anything anymore. Any advise or opinion?? Thanks in advance~!

When I look in OpenSiteExplorer, it says that it hasn't followed any of my internal links... WTF?
When I look at my site in open site explorer, it says it has followed 1 internal link.. I know that opensiteexplorer has updated, because my domain rank has changed since the last time i looked. I figured it just hadn't fully crawled and indexed my links, but considering I have had an account here for over a month, and the site is over 7 months old, I doubt that is the case. My site is www.ontracparts.com can anybody help me here?? Thanks, Tyler

External Linking & Your sites Link juice
Hey guys, quick question. Does a page lose link juice when it gives link juice? If I link to an outside site, do I lose that same amount of link juice or is it just applied to there site and not removed from mine? I understand that linking to a competitor can in turn help him and hurt me (if he then is seen as more relevant than me to google) but does it have a direct relation to hurting/removing my page link juice? Hope this all makes sense. Thanks
