Anyway to get old back links back?

My site ranked in the top 3 for my keyword for many years until someone hacked into my blog in December 2012, which is a subdomain. Google saw I had malicious malware on my domain and removed my site from being indexed (I think that is the word). Basically, I was no longer in the search engines.
My domain and products have been featured on blogs and other places for many years (2 celebrity sites for gift guides), but not many are coming up (actual links with anchor text, not spammy links). I even have one on a friend's site and one in a directory. When I went to Google and put link:www.site.com , I got 1 link. I have seen a few, so I know they exist.
Now, I am on page 3 and have not moved from this place since getting it back up in December 2012. For all of 2013, I thought I would have to wait it out, but now, I fear that waiting it out hurt me. Is there anyway to get Google to look further back and retrieve old links? Should I submit the high ranking ones? I am just wondering if I lost all my hard work in the past. Please advise.

Even if you do a link: search in Google for a major brand it will still omit the majority of the results. I've seen a brand with 1,000's on linking domains bring back 8 listings in Google using link:www... so if you know the links are there it's not something you need to worry about.
There are many more ranking factors than just links so you may need to do a full audit on your site:
Refresh content, improve structure, review meta data, review internal/external linking, trim any bad links coming into your site, resolve duplicate/thin content, check for broken links and redirect, improve site speed, enhance your brand with social sites.....there's a long list of things you could be doing and it might be just the sites around you are doing all of this better.

I have started to venture out, but nothing seems to be working. I cannot seem to move. I am not 100% sure that the reason that I lost my ranking because of the links, but I do 90% believe that it is because of that. The main pages of the sites I was featured in are not coming up unless I manually search for it. If it is not the links, I am at a complete loss what it could be. I will check into Majestic. Thank you.

OSE and WMT don't offer the complete list of links. Majestic and Ahrefs offer a more comprehensive list.
You can't get Google to manually reindex pages from other sites and if they are pages with high authority then it is more than likely that they will be indexed already. If you can see that the links are still there then I would say don't worry about them.
If you have been "waiting it out" since 2012 then that could be the reason won't be ranking too well. Google rewards fresh and current sites that are regularly gaining fresh links and producing new content. So the best thing to do would be to stop worrying about links you might've lost and concentrate on improving your sites and aquiring new, quality links.

I think if you have used OSE and Webmaster tools you should be able to find the majority of the links you have,However i do think that Google intentionally doesn't include information on every link you have in its webmaster tools,
If you are sure the links are still in place on the external pages its tough as they are not your sites,
Are these pages providing your links all indexed by google themselves ? you could maybe check the cache pages in the search results,
Are you sure this loss of links is the only reason for your loss of ranking ?

I have used OSE and Webmaster Tools and they show a few more than what Google shows when I do the site option, but still, they are nowhere's near what it should be.
So, is there no way to manually get Google to re=index up some of these pages that have a high authority and, in turn, give me some credit back?

Using link:www.. isn't a fully comprehensive way to search for your links. Using proper tools as mentioned above as well as Webmaster Tools and Ahrefs will give you a much more accurate and comprehensive reports of the links that exist to your site.

Have you tried using any tools to see what links you still have besides the Google Link:www.yoursite.com method ?
Are http://moz.com/researchtools/ose or try http://www.majesticseo.com/ still picking up your links you had, unless they have been physically removed ?

GWT Lists URLs with links to my site, but those URLs don't have links to my site
There are a number of URLs that show up for my website in Webmaster Tools as having links to my site when in fact they don't. I know this to be a fact because I actually wrote some of the sites that Google is saying are linking to my site and I know there isn't any links on the specific pages to that site. For example, the site in question is: https://www.liftproducts.com/ As an example, Google is saying that about 100 URLs from https://www.lift-tables.net/ are linking to it when, I'm fairly confident that there is only 1 link to it found here: https://www.lift-tables.net/info.php?countrytabs=3 Yet Google says links exist on this (and many more) page: https://www.lift-tables.net/liftproducts/max-lift/lpt4w-030-48.php I thought at first it might have been due to linking to a image file directly instead of locally hosting it, but after checking the source, that's not the case. I am also seeing this type of non-linking being reported on sites I have no clue what they are. For example, some Spanish site about tandem bicycles is being listed as linking to liftproducts.com: http://206-225-85-34.dedicated.abac.net/tandem/inc Yet I can find no evidence of an actual link existing. Am I missing something here? Any insight of why this is happening and how I can clean up my link signature would be appreciated.

Why Links from Top Level Domains doesn't Pass Link Equity?
Hello, I have a doubt about Equity-Passing links report of OpensiteExplorer.org According to Sam Weber http://moz.com/community/users/432678 links which pass value from one page to another including followed 301 and Meta refresh links are under Equity-Passing links. I am surprising after looking at the links report generated by opensiteexplorer.org. Most of the article and directory links which have low DA and PA are under Equity-Passing links. Whereas websites like EzineArticle or Articlebase which have good DA and PA are not found in either Equity-passing links or under only nofollow category. Please suggest me if the report of Opensiteexplorer is not good enough or the links from the site like Ezine Article doesn’t pass the link equity. Thanks.

We were penalized for a specific key phrase due to incoming links. How long to come back?
We were penalized for a specific key phrase, I had included a link using that phrase to the targeted page in a header on another site. This resulted in hundreds of identical lincoming links using that key phrase to the page, so I'm guessing that's what did it. I've since rectified the problem but about how long do you think it will take for the penalty to be dropped? We were knocked down about 10 places.

How do I get the most links out of one QUALITY article/post??
Basically we are a small business (2 employees) we don't have the time or resources to be writing hundreds of original quality articles each week (nor do we have the time to write endless guest blogs each week) how do we gain links from one article? Link Building: Asking for links versus building links
I am currently delving into link building for SEO having started out from a social media marketing side. From that angle, it was always my belief building high quality links came from engaging targeted bloggers and sites in my market and related verticals for product reviews and/or providing expert advise and opinion for posts they are creating. As I am learning more the "technical" side of SEO, I've read a lot of posters on here talk about asking from links from websites. While I get the concept from a strategic stand point, are links really asking for or is better to continue to pursue the long term investment of pitching to get coverage from well known bloggers and sites?

Using parked domain page to get 50k+ of low quality links, good idea?
Hi all, I'm managing the seo for a hosting company. We have a lot of parked domains with a parked domain page. This will now be updated to promote our products. When this page is updated it will give 50k+ of low quality links to specific pages almost overnight. We curently don't have a very good seo ranking for our keywords, so there is little risk on the downside in the short term. Do you have any suggestions as to how I should go about this? Some alternatives off the top of my head: 1. get the page up an focus all the link equity on relevant pages with keywords in anchor text 2. add noindex / nofollowto all pages or only part of them to avoid puishment 3. add noindex / to the majority of the pages and "release" a percentage every week or so to avoid a "link bomb" Thanks for any and all input!
