Can't Hyperlink After the WP 4.0 Update?

Anyone else who runs a WP site have problems hyperlinking after the 4.0 update? I read I could deactivate all my plugins, and go through them one-by-one, but before I go to that step, I want to know if there's either an easier way to regain this functionality or if there is a specific plugin that's known to cause the problem.

Most of my problems have been pretty well documented. When I run into something a little more obscure, it helps that I brew beer with a pretty awesome WP dev. The guy's either going to speak at the next Austin or Portland WordCamp, I'm not sure which atm. I would bug him, but the lucky chump is ramping up on a great new job.
The good news is it appears the site is hosted with Blue Host. Give them a call and they can more than likely roll it back without a fuss. The WP 4.0 update doesn't appear to have anything to do with security. So you definitely have a little breathing room to figure this one out.
I noticed that it looks like your right sidebar is missing, from your screen grab posted in WP Support. It would interest you to know that 4.0 made some pretty significant changes to the editor.
Without knowing what's banging around in /mu-plugins, I would probably look at NextGen Gallery first.

Thanks for the help. I was not aware of "Must-use plugins," but I will read up on them. Thankfully, I can add links in the text editor, so it's not the end of the world. However, it's kind of annoying.
Have you ever had much luck in the WP support forum? I submitted my post there, but is always so bogged down, I've never gotten back anything helpful.
I'm thinking about just trying to use the backup from before we upgraded and staying with WP 3.9.2, until I have time to figure this out. Would there be any issue with that, do you think?

P.S. I tried the adding a new user, but that didn't change anything. Good idea, though. I'll file it away for next time!

Hey Ruben,
One thing you may or not be aware of, your site appears to use Must-use plugins. You won't see them in the dashboard and they're always on. Mucking with them in production isn't entirely advisable. So if you weren't aware of /mu-plugins, I may have saved you some frustration.
This issue could really be caused by anything. You might get more mileage from the WordPress Support Forum.
I would advise cloning the install in a test environment, blocked by meta robots, robots.txt and a login for good measure. Make sure you only access the test environment in a dark room, whilst under a blanket. From there you can swap out themes, go into debug - turn off plugins - to your heart's content.
One thing you can do in production is make a new user and see if that changes anything. Right now, you have the same two users I've seen before.
I know it's a pain in the butt, but is TinyMCE allowing you to anchor text in Text mode?
Edit: Nope. I haven't had any issues after 4.0 updates. : /

Google Translate with "no-follow" just for users' use, no ranking
Hello, I tried to search but here is a little unique situation. I would like to translate my website in 2-3 different languages not for ranking purpose, but only for some minority users within Italy to understand the content in their native language. Using "no-follow" with a Google Translate link would damage SEO? if not I would like to use it. Here are few points: Give users the ability to switch the content to their language with a link Tell Google not to follow the translated pages, because I don't want them to be used for ranking or searches I would start simply with Google Translate to see if people actually are interested, then later translate by human but still don't want google to follow I could also start with human translation instead of Google Translate if really needed, I know it is a no no. Can Image File Names be Masked?
If we "mask" file names for our website but they are left their original name on the server, will Google notice this? Client wants to mask them in order to name them with keywords but not change on the actual server.

How can i embed my video into a table using SEO embed setting?
We use Wistia.com to embed our videos. They have different options for embed settings and we prefer to use the SEO embed setting, however, when we use that setting we aren't able to insert the video in a table side by side with another image or text. When we try, the video jumps out of the table and the table gets (for lack of a better work) out of wack. When we embed the video with the iframe embed setting, the video can be placed in a table with no issues, but then we don't get the SEO credit. We have our site in wordpress. I'm not sure if that has something to do with the tables getting messed up. Unable to set preferred domain, can I verify a site that's already redirected?
I'm in the process of trying to set a preferred domain in webmaster tools -- to set our www version as preferred vs. the non www. version. IT is already redirecting non-www to www, but I get this message when trying to change settings "Part of the process of setting a preferred domain is to verify that you own http://mnn.com/. Please verify http://mnn.com/." While we own the domain, I am not sure how we can have Google access a file at [http://mnn.com/some_file when we are forwarding all requests for non-www to our www site.

Note: The apache rewrite predates me and I'm not sure how / why we have two domains set up, but I'm trying to fix the preferred domain now.Am I able to verify the non version once the redirect is in place.Any ideas??? Help???Thanks!Lisa0 -
I know frames aren't good, but are they bad?
About 3/4 of my website includes frames from the Amazon aStore, but the pages also have at least 500 words of content on them each. I understand that spiders aren't too good with frames but will search engines punish my site for having them or just disregard them? Thanks in advance.

Flat vs. Silo Site Architecture, What's Better
I'm in the midst of converting a fairly large website (500+ pages) into WordPress as a content management system. I know that there are two schools of thought regarding site architecture: Those who believe that everything should be categorized, I.E.- website.com/shoes/reebok/running People who believe that the less clicks it takes from the homepage the better. As it stands, our current site has a completely flat architecture, with landing pages being added randomly to the root, I.E.- website.com/affordable-shoes-in-louisville-ky I'm beginning to think that there is a gray area with this. I spoke to someone who says that you should never have a page more than 2 categories/subfolders deep. But if we plan on adding a lot of content doesn't it make sense to set the site up into many categories so we can set a good foundation for adding massive amounts of content. Also, will 301 redirecting to the new structure cause us to lose rankings for certain terms? Any help here is appreciated.

Do you have an SEO 'plugin' recommendation for SharePoint 2007?
I'm not a programmer and our 200+ person company isn't going to change their CMS just because I asked them nicely. Do you know of any SEO plugin I can use on SharePoint 2007? I just don't want to have to keep going into each of 110 websites time after time.
