Open Site Explorer only showing 10 internal links, and 270 external links
-
Hi, I run the website www.abackpackerstale.com ,and for some reasons opensite explorer is only showing 10 internal links, and a 200 and something external links.
How can I fix this as I am sure it is hurting my DA authority, and overall site score.
Thanks!
Stephen

Hi Stephen!
My name is Erin, and I'm on the Moz Help Team. Thanks for reaching out! Pixelbypixel is totally right, OSE isn't the end all be all of SEO.
I looked into your site, and I'm guessing that the reason we're only pulling 10 internal links into the index is because your site has javascript. OSE has always had a heck of a time crawling past javascript, which would explain why you aren't seeing more links. I agree with Pixelbypixel in that it's good to compare with Majestic and Ahrefs. Each index will give you a different perspective on how your site it doing.
I hope this helps, and happy Tuesday!
Erin

Did you remember to change your filter from "this page" to "Pages on this root domain" ?
-
Hey! Thanks for the super fast response.
I am looking at the Internal Equity- Passing Links
| Internal Equity-Passing Links: Number of equity-passing links that come from pages on the same root domain as this URL. Equity-passing links are those that search engines generally consider to pass ranking value. These include followed links, 301 redirects, rel=canonical, and URL rewrites that send a 301 response code. | 10 |

Hiya,
If you are worried you can always run "fetch as Google" this should let you know if Google has any problems. Running a Moz pro report is also a great way to detect any problems or errors on your site.
I see a lot more than 10 internal links. Have you got your filters set up to exclude a lot maybe?
-
Right on. Thanks for the answer. However, I should have been more clear. For the internal links some of them have been set in place for years. Would there be something wrong in my code that is stopping this from showing up in Open Site explorer.

Hi Stephen,
First off don't worry about it hurting your site, its simply software that gives a rough indicator of quality. It is not the be all and end all of SEO. I recommend when looking at back links you also compare with other similar software like Majestic SEO & Ahrefs.
OSE sometimes takes a little while to get around to crawling all links and as I mentioned its only a guide to success not a guarantee. So don't panic and continue with your SEO strategy as well as checking other sources so you can get the best idea of how you are doing.
Hope that helps & good luck.

Moz was unable to crawl your site on Jun 22, 2020\. We were unable to access your site due to a page timeout on your robots.txt, which prevented us from crawling the rest of your site.
Site: www.kpmg.us Getting robots.txt timeout fail since 02/29/20. We've checked our server logs and see no errors. Went through all the steps of the "Troubleshooter". Updated robots.txt to allow rogerbot full access: User-agent: rogerbot

What does "Number of Linking Root Domains" in Open Site Explorer actually mean?
I've read through the forum, but I'm confused as to what "Number of Linking Root Domains" means in the Linking Domains report. For example, if the root domain is Moz.com and the number is 135,000 does that mean there are 135,000 links from Moz pointing back to my site or does it mean there are 135,000 sites linking back to Moz? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Guys and Girls, I'm having a weird issue in one of my sites , thing is the site had DA 11 in July and however when check on September Site is having 26 without me doing any type of link building and there are no new posts for this month as well. When checked using open site explorer there are no backlinks indexed in their Mozcape index as well. Site: http://www.beijingtravelchannel.com/ Can you give me any plausible reasons for this to happen, so that i can check them out. Thanks in Advance.0 -
Moz Pro: Linking RDs to Page much lower than Google Search Console
I'm trying to use the Analyze Keyword tool in Moz Pro, and in the SERP Analysis table, my page has a PA of one, and zero root domains linking to it. If I look at the page in Google Search console, it says I have 229 root domains linking to the page from well known domains like github.com, meetup.com, stackoverflow.com, etc. This particular keyword has been tracked in Moz for the last 6 months, but I just noticed that it was extremely low. I am relatively new to Moz, so forgive me if I sound confused, but can someone explain to me how the numbers can be so low?

Why does OSE show different link equity for homepage with and without trailing slash?
Hi all, I am working with a developer who believes OSE (Open Site Explorer) is flawed. His reasoning is that OSE shows completely different link equity and domain authority for these two URLs [company name is purposely withheld]: http://www.mydomain.com/us/ and http://www.mydomain.com/us NOTE: http://www.mydomain.com/us has been properly 301-redirecting to http://www.mydomain.com/us/ for years. The developer's argument is that the URL that is being 301-redirected shouldn't have any link equity at all, therefore OSE is flawed. Here is the response I would like to give him. Please feel free to poke holes, provide feedback or flat out correct me if I am wrong: Dear inquisitive developer, Any URL that is being linked to by another site that has link equity will get link equity passed to it. This is true even if the URL is a page that doesn't exist. What it can't do (if it doesn't exist) is then pass that link equity on to another page. Moz's OSE is showing separate link equity for the two versions of this URL because other sites have linked to both versions. The fact that one 301-redirects to the other is good and ensures that link equity from one is passing to the preferred URL. The 301-redirect does not, however, remove link equity from the first URL, but rather passes the existing link equity from one to the other. Consequently, Moz's OSE is not flawed, but rather is displaying the link equity of one URL that is benefiting the other via a 301-redirect. Sincerely, Dana

Internal links - OpenSiteExplorer vs Webmaster tools
Hi guys, I run Opensiteexplorer on the website www.fazland.com (in italian...). (https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/comparisons?site=www.fazland.com) It only shows ca 240 internal links where I know there are plenty more also shown in Google Webmaster Tools. I cannot figure out why it can crawl so few links - Google shows 79.000 links found and internal links are pretty well established. Any suggestions from your experience on this difference? Cheers, Rob

Any help would be much appreaciated. Thanks Will
