Domain authority decreased but rankings increased
-
Hello!
I'm a bit confused. It seems the industry as a whole that my company operates in has taken a bash from the update a few days ago as all of the competitiors have taken a hit to their domain authority. What is confusing is that my websites rankings have increased as well.
There has been a change to the robots.txt file in an effort to stop being crawled by SEMRush which is messing with my site stats but that is the only change.
Thanks in advance,
Ben

This has effected us just the same. We have not discovered anything in regards to SEMRush with our site, but our linking C blocks dropped. We're having a hard time understanding what happened with this as well. Even through the updates, our ranking on Google has stayed the same.
Searching for more information about this. Anyone that can help, we'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi Andy,
All have dropped roughly the same amount in terms of Domain Authority.
We have been working on Links recently so hopefully this will part of the reason for a pick up in rankings.
Someone keeps using SEMRush to spider the site which is then translating into huge amounts of referals data which in turn messes with bounce rate and stats of the site. I'm trying to find the best way of blocking SEMRush off completely.

Hi
You mention your competitors DA has dropped but is your drop the same as theirs or less. You could have dropped but if your drop is less severe than your competitors, you will have benefited.
DA is a Moz score and not a Google score. It could be that your competitors could have been hit by one of the recent updates, so that's why you have increased. It could be your content is better than your competitors. However my ranking change daily so I have stopped monitoring my actual individual rankings and just revenue from Organic.
Have you recently got some good fresh links that are relevant that Google are taking into account to help your rankings.
I don't think stopping SEMRush will impact your results - out of interest what stats was affected as I am about to sign up.

Thanks Monica!

Moz updated their API as well, so I think a lot of companies saw a change in DA over the past week. Check out the Mozscape info. The last two updates have affected rankings over the past few weeks. Keep an out for messages in GWT and your search impressions. Hang tight while things settle down in the algo world.

Is page speed important to improve SEO ranking?
I saw on a SEO Agency's site (https://burstdgtl.com/search-engine-optimization/) that page speed apparently affects Google ranking. Is this true? And if it is, how do I improve it, do I need an agency?

Google Is Ranking the Wrong Page
Howdy Folks- I have a case where Google is ranking the wrong page for a couple of different keywords. The home page is: http://healthtn.com Most notably, we're trying to optimize the home page for "Tennessee Health Insurance" but the below page is what continually ranks for it, and does so very poorly. We used to be page two with the home page, now we are page four and it ranks the following page. http://healthtn.com/tennessee/health-insurance/student I have started directing our Internal Linking to reflect the correct anchor text but succeeded in losing ranking for the term, but am still ranking the wrong page. Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated!

Will pushing a visitor to a conversion page hosted on a 3rd-party domain hurt the landing page ranking
Had an interesting question from a client. The client has a page that is optimized for a specific term. The goal of the page is to push users to sign-up for a trial. The trial registration (conversion) page is hosted by a third-party. Will pushing users to the conversion page cannibalize the SEO authority of the landing page. My reflexive answer is to say no, but now am not so sure.

Can a country level domain perform well in international SEO if all the targeted keywords are related to that country domain?
Hi fellow Mozers, I am doing international SEO on Google US, UK, UAE and Saudi Arabia. All my targeted keywords have my country name in it, for example, export companies in France, best import companies in France and so on. Finally, my website has a country level domain i.e. www.xyz.co.fr _Hence, my questions are: _ 1. Is it good have a country level domain in this case or should I go TLDs? 2. Should my Google Plus page be a local business page or company page from SEO perspective? I have more than 10000 users who have +1 my website. _Thanks in advance. _

Get the startpage rank high for one word
Hi, This has maybe been asked many times. I wonder for example how our website www.hardtours.se can receive higher ranking for the word "hardstyle". Our competitor has "hardstyle" in the webadress and it feels useless to compete with them since it feels that having the name in the www adress is to hard to compete with. Or am i wrong?

Will a new domain name help rankings
If I purchase a domain name that links to my site with the new domain name being keyword specific....will that help boost rankings in Google? Reason I ask is that a particular website always ranks higher than ours because of their domain name (keyword specific). They are currently not even "open" and they still manage to rank high. I checked for links with the seomoz tools but did not see any high links etc.. Thanks!
