Does Google spider read registered trademarks (the 'R' or 'TM') or do these marks impede anything if they are featured in meta tags or text?

Agreed. if you do not use the proper formatting when adding the text, you could wind up with strange characters showing up when Google/Search engines index those descriptions. We have used them many times in the past, without any issues.

We have a registered trademark. I've not seen any problems with either. The only potential problem I could see would be in using the raw character instead of the HTML entity () and you're not using UTF8 on your site it's possible that it could appear garbled in some contexts.

Use of subfolders for my casino directory

Been trying to find an answer to this for some time, so I hope someone can lend me a hand.. I've started building out my casino website Nerdybet, which will list regulated gaming vendors within each US state. A part of the idea is to create a high level web directory of legal betting sites. Now, say I want to list all legal casinos within a specific US state. What's the most search engine friendly way to build out the hierarchy? To clarify, this will be the main casino directory page: https://www.nerdybet.com/gambling-sites-directory Based on that, I can now pick either: a) Nerdybet.com/gambling-sites-directory/stateX
b)Nerdybet.com/stateX Which method would you say is best? And why so? Thank you.

Do Blog Tags affect SEO at all anymore?

We're trying to standardize the use of tags on our site amongst writers/editors, and I'm trying to come up a list of tags they can choose from to tag posts with - and telling them to use no more than 10 (absolute maximum) per post. We are also in the process of migrating to a new CMS, and have 8 defined categories that will all have their own landing page within our "News" section. TLDR: Do blog tags have any impact on SEO anymore? Are they solely meant to help users find articles related on popular topics, or does creating a tag for a popular topic help to improve organic visibility? Full Question: With the tag standardization, I want to make sure we're creating the most useful and effective tags; and the UX/SEO sides of my brain are conflicted. To my understanding, creating a tag about a high volume topic in an industry helps establish the website's relevance to Google/other search engines about that topic and improves overall relevance; but the tag feed page (ex: http://freshome.com/tag/home-protection/) isn't really meant for organic search visibility. So my other question is, is it worth it to noindex the tag pages in the robots.txt? Will that affect any benefit to increased relevance for Google (if there is any)? I'm interested to hear others' thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Which speed test to use?

Hi so I have a very easy question I think. I am too new to seo stuff to know better, but which speed test site is the best? I have a construction website. My issue is I am getting mixed results. Pingdom is showing <dl> <dt>Load time</dt> <dd>1.18s</dd> </dl> <dl> <dt>Requests</dt> <dd>22</dd> </dl> <dl class="last"> <dt>Perf. grade</dt> <dd>94/100</dd> <dd>Gt metrix is showing 98/87 with a 2.13 load time.</dd> <dd>And it varies from when I do it.</dd> <dd>So which do I go off of?</dd> <dd>With pingdom, I feel pretty good.</dd> <dd>With gtmetrix I feel like maybe I could improve.</dd> <dd>I ask because I have been looking into a cdn, but because its like learning a foreign language to me, I do not want to go there unless I have too.</dd> <dd>Thank you for any advice on which speed test to view as most accurate</dd> <dd>Chris</dd> </dl>

Title Tag duplication.

Hi Guys/Gals, We do a lot of work in a very competitive space (personal injury) and are having an internal debate on the best way to implement title tags for new sites. We understand that keywords, title tags, etc., don't possess the power they once did, but we have yet to see conclusive proof of this in our space. The vast majority of competitors still rank very well for keyword focused content, title tags, etc., while having average link profiles and little content. We write a lot of content for our clients and want to know if someone can offer their opinion on the question that follows this example: "Top 5 Injuries Caused by T-Bone Collisions | Indiana Accident Lawyer" Would it seem repetitive or manipulative to construct title tags as shown, always placing "Indiana Accident Attorney" or "Indianapolis Accident Lawyer," or similar of at the end of each title tag? Should i avoid using H2 to optimize my home page

Hi, my site is www.in2town.co.uk and i am looking at ranking for lifestyle magazine but i am a bit worried. The titles of the articles on the home page are h2, and i am just wondering if i should change this to h3 as it may get confusing for google. Can anyone let me know if i should keep the article titles as h2 or if i am right that they need to be changed to h3 or something else any help would be great

On page SEO Strategy / What pages to use?

What is the best page to use for targeting your hard to rank keywords? Using Robots Meta Tag on Review Form Pages

I have gone over this so many times and I just can't seem to get it straight and hope someone can help me out with a couple of questions: Right now, on my dynamically created pages created by filters (located on the category pages) I am using rel""canonical" to point them to their respective category page. Should I also use the robots meta tag as well? Similarly, each product I have on my site has a review form on it and thus is getting indexed by Google. I have placed the same canonical tag on them as well pointing them to the page with the review form on it. In the past I used robots.txt to block google from the review pages but this didn't really do much. Should I be using the robots meta tag on these pages as well? If I used the robots meta tag should I noindex,nofollow? Thanks in advance, Jake

To enter keyword meta tags or to not enter keyword meta tags?

I've been doing SEO for awhile, but new to SEOMoz. I'm surprised that SEOMoz does not recommend keyword meta tags. I didn't enter them for the longest time because I know Google doesn't care about them. However, I did read that other search engines DO use them. And therefore that is why you should have them. I teach my customers about SEO, and I know it would be much easier for them not to enter or worry about the keyword meta tags. However, I would love to hear opinions here. And to Bing/Yahoo put any weight into them or is it only really small search engines? Thanks! Hilary
