Which speed test to use?
-
Hi so I have a very easy question I think.
I am too new to seo stuff to know better, but which speed test site is the best?
I have a construction website. My issue is I am getting mixed results.
Pingdom is showing
<dl>
<dt>Load time</dt>
<dd>1.18s</dd>
</dl>
<dl>
<dt>Requests</dt>
<dd>22</dd>
</dl>
<dl class="last">
<dt>Perf. grade</dt>
<dd>94/100</dd>
<dd>Gt metrix is showing 98/87 with a 2.13 load time.</dd>
<dd>And it varies from when I do it.</dd>
<dd>So which do I go off of?</dd>
<dd>With pingdom, I feel pretty good.</dd>
<dd>With gtmetrix I feel like maybe I could improve.</dd>
<dd>I ask because I have been looking into a cdn, but because its like learning a foreign language to me, I do not want to go there unless I have too.</dd>
<dd>Thank you for any advice on which speed test to view as most accurate</dd>
<dd>Chris</dd>

Ok thank you. I am using a cache plugin, yet I would like to add more stuff. For an example when I add social buttons, its another request and adds time.
Thanks for the help. Now if I have speed of I can work on more content
Thank you for everyone nice help

Nice site - I use pingdom.com but webpagetest.org looks excellent.

Those load speeds are absolutely fine and wont be hampering any SEO efforts at all. One of my sites takes around 7 seconds to load and ranks 1st to 4th for very highly competitive phrases
It is more about the user experience, content and making sure you are attracting the right people.
If your site is built in Wordpress, look at a cache plugin to speed load times up if you want to get a little more from it.
Don't sweat about those times though

I did see that yslow on gtmetrix. It says I get an F for no cdn. But not sure if it will even save me much?

Hi -
http://www.webpagetest.org/ is a great resource. I also use YSlow (plugin for web browser). YSlow is great at telling you what's causing the high page load times. Hope this helps.

Is it recommended to use SEO plugin for falamakmachine site?
Hello good time Is it recommended to use SEO plugin for dedicated sites? Or do you think we should change the dedicated CMS to WordPress based on the convenient user interface that WordPress has. http://www.falamakmachine.com/productListDetail.aspx?catID=1

URL Domain Used in Meta Description
Today I was asked if using a domain url in your meta description can have a negative impact on your website. This description includes a list of the homepage url, but directs visitors to a different internal page of the website. My concern fell with directing visitors to a different page of the site, but promoting the homepage in the description/snippet. With Penguin 2.1 release on the 4th, I'm very cautious of my links/urls. What are your thoughts behind this? What are the possible, if any negative impacts this could have on a site? This URL does have a brand name as so the Title.

Does Google use 302's to pass value to the target page?
Hi, I've received the below advice, is this correct? Throughout the site, the 302 (moved temporarily) status code is used for redirects, which Google will use to pass value to the target page. Is this correct? I was under the impression a 301 was used to pass value to the target page? Could someone explain the difference between a 301 and a 302, I'm not 100% sure. Thanks, Nathan

Should you use Plural version of a keyword or singular
H If kw research shows that singular version of a keyword has higher search volume than plural version should you still use plural version in main on-page areas to try and catch both instances or focus on the singular ? cheers dan

Should stop words be used in titles? I'm aiming for natural title structure.
I have fully optimized on-page SEO for the following keyword (not really the one I use, but it can serve as an example): -personal driver in los angeles Even though "in" is a stop word, I prefer to have a natural (non-robotic) structure for the title - I do this by including "in". I believe that "personal driver los angeles" is too spammy and too robotic. Is this a good or a bad thing?

Duplicate Content when Using "visibility classes" in responsive design layouts? - a SEO-Problem?
I have text in the right column of my responsive layout which will show up below the the principal content on small devices. To do this I use visibility classes for DIVs. So I have a DIV with with a unique style text that is visible only on large screen sizes. I copied the same text into another div which shows only up only on small devices while the other div will be hidden in this moment. Technically I have the same text twice on my page. So this might be duplicate content detected as SPAM? I'm concerned because hidden text on page via expand-collapsable textblocks will be read by bots and in my case they will detect it twice?Does anybody have experiences on this issue?bestHolger

Recreate missing pages or just use 301 redirect?
Hi, on the Competitive Comparison section of the "link analysis" page the top 5 sites are linking to pages on my site that no longer exist. I'm wondering if it is worthwhile to recreate these pages that no longer exist or if I should just use a 301 redirect to some page on my site that has related info. Thanks for your suggestions.

Why does SEOmoz use /blog/content-title vs /category/content-title? Any difference?
Assume a brand new blog being designed and all other things equal. What are the pros & cons between using the url structure /blog/content-title vs. /category/content-title? Note:
