Image alt tag

Just started using SEO Moz. I entered an alt tag for a featured image on a wordpress website, however, When I conduct a page grade, SEO Moz still indicates that there is not an image alt tag.  Any suggestions?

For the key words to be recognized, I have to input the image in the text editor section as opposed to using the Set Featured Image in wordpress.

Just to add if you're lazy you can also use screaming frog which will pick up any missing alt tags.

Have you checked the source code to see it the alt tag is actually there?

ie in firefox/chrome > right click > view page source

Looking for something like:

If it is there then perhaps you need to wait for Moz to re crawl the site, if not and it's definitely on the image alt in wordpress media then you may need to look at your theme. Establish if the theme utilises the alt element and if not then you may need to add it yourself (via a child theme preferably)
