Should archives get a no-follow? Should i optimize content on archive pages for seo purposes such as adding meta descriptions.
Thank you

Thanks Anthony, that's what I was thinking as well!

I would definitely recommend implementing NoIndex, Follow on Archive pages. On a blog, you want your Actual Posts and potentially even your post categories to rank. There is little chance page 3 for category/author has any value to the search engines so you should simply tell them to crawl the page but not index it.

Hi Donald. Are you talking about the pages that group the older blog posts or just older blog posts themselves? If the latter keeping the links in them as standard is fine. If you're having crawl issues with your site you may consider funneling link strength down specific sections of your site. A little clarification might help with a better answer. Cheers!

No-index or 301 - custom wordpress archives
Hi, We are using custom wordpresss posts to showcase different services we provide, these are then grouped within custom archives. These custom archive pages are our main keyword landing pages and traffic generators (although ranking is fairly average). It's come to my attention that these custom posts have also been listed in the wordpress standard categories, with an identical title, excerpts and near identical urls as the custom archives. This appears to have been the case for quite a while. We are concerned that this is may causing duplicate content issues and unsure how to proceed. We have been advised to simply no-index the redundant 'standard' categories but as they have been indexed for some time we are cautious of causing any upset with search engines (although the categories are indexed they are not ranking for any major keywords) Are we best 301ing the redundant category to the custom archives or using a canonical tags or simply no-indexing the categories like other archive pages? Any advice is aprreciated Many thanks BC

How to add meta descriptions in WordPress
Hello, I have a WordPress website in which the front page is built entirely with text widgets. How would I add key words and meta descriptions. Yoast does not give an option for this and it seems WordPress does not support meta descriptions. Anyone have ideas? The website is championfitprogram.com

Are lots of wordpress tags hurting my SEO?
When I started my blog 4 years ago and didn't know what I was doing, I set it up to be organized using tags (no categories). I have around 20 tags and around 250 articles. Each blog article typically has 2-4 tags associated with it. There is a lot of topic overlap and putting each post in only one category wouldn't work. I have been no indexing, do follow my tag pages because they are just a list of post titles, but I'm wondering if the whole situation is hurting my SEO. On my homepage I have a sidebar menu/list of all the tags so I have link juice going to no indexed (but dofollow) pages. Reducing the number of tags would be bad for user experience because people who were looking for info on a specific topic wouldn't be as easily able to find what they want. Ideas?

Advantages of Wordpress Pages versus Posts
I have a number of SEO focused articles that I would like to post to our site to help with content and rankings. I am wondering the advantages of posting the content as a page versus a post within Wordpress. Or even vice versa.
