WordPress and Rich Snippets plugin creating 501 error
-
Good Morning MOZguru's,
Right, so I've been trying to install the Google schema.org rich snippet plugin through Wordpress for a website, and after I activate it, the website does not load ( appears a blank page) or loads very very slooooowww. Also through the MOZBar, Http status section, after the plug in it's activated it shows a 501 error.
I had this issues with another website I was working on, hosted by Godaddy, and fixed it by installing plugins through the control panel on go daddy and not through WordPress. However this website is not hosted on the same platform.
Does anyone know what should I do in order for the plugin to work and not affect the website?
Many thanks,
Moncia

Hi,
the most common 500 Server Error with Wordpress happens when the php memory limit is to low.
I would suggest to increase it to a minimum of 64 oder 128MB.Some Infos here:

Hi Leonie,
The website is Man Van London and the plug in name is All in One Schema.org Rich Snippets. I have looked in the settings and there is nothing there in regards to my issue.
I have activated the plug in again, and same thing the website becomes blank, and this appears onto MOZBar.
Status Code URL |
HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error
|
Once I deactivated, everything comes back to normal.
Thanks, hope it helps.

Hi, can you provide the plug-in name and the website that's involved? Maybe i can help you further with that information.
Did you already checked the support page of the plug-in?
Grtz, leonie

Is Wordpress Website Backup Service Worth the Investment?
I was horrified to learn that my hosting company, InMotion Hosting does not offer redundant backups, that it is on the customer to set up backups to ensure they don't lose their data. I plan to back up to Google Drive 3 x a week for 12 backups and also create 3 backups on our server (Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday). So if something goes wrong and we catch it within a week we can generate the backup directly from our server. There are website backup services such as BlogVault. Do they offer any meaningful advantages to taking the contents of the entire server (16 gigs) and backing it up? They do offer Malware removal. Does this have value? Is back up on an external service like Google Cloud while simultaneously backing up on the server a safe way to proceed? If not, what is the simplest and most effective manner to backup? I prefer to avoid adding any plugins to WordPress as our site already has too many (about 30). Thanks!!

Where to Place Quality Content in Order to Create Links?
Assuming we have retained a an award winning journalist to write articles/blog posts about our business. Assuming the content is useful and engaging. Where would be the best place to publish it to create high quality backlinks? 1. Our website blog
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Kingalan1
2. Social media sites like our LinkedIn or Facebook pages.
3. Sending completed articles to websites that might potentially have an interest in publishing them.
4. Publishing the articles on our website and then promoting them with Adwords and Facebook to demographics that would find them interesting and link to them.
5. Combination of publishing an article on our website and posting a related article on social media and linking it back to the original article on our website.
6. Place a custom written article of extremely high quality on affiliate website run by the HOTH or a competitor. But before publishing check the affiliate website on AHREFS and Link Research Tools to ensure that the metrics are not at all spammy (decent domain rating). Which of the above options (or combination of) would most likely result in backlinks of good quality? Assume the quality of the writing is excellent. If pitching the content to other websites (#3) would work, how would we identify these websites? Thanks,

Rich snippets not appearing in SERP
We implemented rich snippets for People listings about 2 months ago, and they haven't shown up in SERPs yet. I followed all of the advice listed here, and everything seems to be working and being crawled correctly. I'm not sure what else to try at this point. Here is an example page that should be showing snippets: http://www.travelleaders.com/travel_agent/Agent-Details.aspx?id=6982 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

An idea how to go about fixing this without changing the site around? https://www.zenory.co.nz/sitemap I have seen competitors sitemaps look similar to mine. Cheers

Changing from Wordpress to html
I am desperately hoping that someone can help with this enquiry. I set up a site www.drug-rehab.ltd.uk about two years ago, on wordpress. I was enjoying top four positions for my local search. Until, in my ignorant stupidity, I changed the site to html as the page load was about 15 seconds a page on wordpress. At the time I didn't redirect the pages - I assumed that they would be deleted and Google would update the changes quite quickly. I then employed an seo agency to try and fix the problem, and have been using these guys for about 6 months and there isn't any change in the seo, despite them creating the re-directs from the orphaned pages 6 months ago. This are low competitive keywords. I can find the indexed pages by URL on Google. i.e. http://www.drug-rehab.ltd.uk/drug-rehab-buckinghamshire.html But I can't find the keyword phrase 'Drug Rehab Bedfordshire' etc anywhere. I wrote to Google for page reconsideration and they told me that it doesn't have any spam penalties against it, and there is nothing to consider. Does anyone please have any ideas how I might be able to revive this site? Many thanks Chris

Questions about turning my wordpress site into an ecommerce site. Experience needed.
I have a wordpress site that is about a product that is now getting some great traffic. Right now It has affiliate stuff on it. I want to sell my own product so I will be turning this wordpress site into an ecommerce site. I want to redesign it so I am not looking for simple plugins to just add a cart. The part I am really confused about is what to do with my posts and categories? How does that work when turning this site into an ecommerce site? Lets say the site is "hats for adults" My post pages are things like "funny hats for adults", "hats for adult men" etc etc. Would I turn these posts pages into like category pages that have a category of products. Or should I create real categories and have my developer turn those into the ecommerce category pages and then redirect my posts to those categories? Maybe I don't even know what I am talking about. Is this even making sense? This is a small site (5posts and 1 category) and most of the traffic will come from the homepage keywords anyways.

Rich Snippits - Product Data showing in serps
Google "halloween costumes", see the yandy listing that shows product data and pricing under their listing? How did they do this? I realize its a rich snippit of some kind but i don't see in the code how or where this is. I've yet to see anyone but Amazon influence the SERPS yet with rich snippits. Pretty interesting
