Getting Google Plus Page to Appear
-
I've recently been making changes and updates to my company's verified local Google + page--my question is when and/or how do I configure it to appear in the search results? When I type my business into Google (Exchange Capital Management), it's not even within the results displayed. The page isn't accessible unless someone were to Google "Exchange Capital Management Google Plus." As mentioned, the page has been verified, updated, and has about 8,000+ views. Any advice or feedback is appreciated!
All best,
Lauren McLaughlin

Assuming this is your page -- https://plus.google.com/+ExchangeCapitalManagementIncAnnArbor/about -- about the only thing I could suggest is get some reviews. That would show more engagement than anything else. The Google+ page showed up when I searched for your company's name, but then I'm nowhere near Michigan.

Thanks for your response, Ryan.
I am still a bit confused after seeing similar local firms' Google + pages appear next to the business name--these competitors have similar, if not less engagement on their pages. Guess I'll just continue to step it up! Thanks again.

Hi Lauren. Cyrus wrote a nice post on this last year: http://moz.com/blog/google-plus-tips-seo, specifically, "For this method to work, it requires that your visitors actually engage." (Emphasis his). The rest of the tips break down how to incorporate the work you do there with the work you do on your site.
Next, appearance is partially a branded search question. Sometimes if there's not high enough volumes, Google doesn't incorporate it within the search results. Still, if you begin integrating it more and get user interactions: follows, reviews, comments, etc.you'll be much more likely to get it to show up. Cheers!

Product expansion on website. Best practices for Retargeting Interior Pages with a high concern for brand.
For the past year, I've worked on a website that offered one product (Product 1). The homepage targeted both branded terms and the highest volume keywords for the one product. We've built a lot of strong links to the homepage using the natural variations of the targeted Keywords & the homepage ranks very well for these terms. The brand is now expanding its offerings to two products (Product 1 & 2). Thus necessitating the creation of two product subpages. I'm not concerned about ranking of Product 2's page, only Product 1. From a branding perspective, the homepage URL works wonderfully for the expanded offerings. And from an SEO perspective, offering two products allows me to target a very high volume group of keywords on the homepage that now makes more sense given the offerings. This new group of keywords will make even more sense if brand is able to roll out a 3rd product. The profitability of Product 1 & 2 are about the same. The profitability of potential product 3 is far greater 1+2 combined. Product 3 also has the most natural correlation with the group of KWs I plan to target on the homepage, i.e., I care more about the ranking of the homepage once Product 3 has launched. Product 3 will have its own interior product page as there is plenty of search volume for KWs specific to this product. I'm worried about hurting the rankings of the old product and URL confusion between the homepage & the to-be-created Product 1 page. I don't see myself having a lot of options. Options 301 - It does not make sense to 301 redirect the homepage to the Product 1 interior page. The homepage URL has strong branding and will be used in future marketing. I do not believe that I value the maintaining the rankings of Product 1 enough to push for making the new homepage example.com/home or similar to allow for the 301 redirect. Canonical - The content of the homepage will be changing, thus a rel=canonical to the Product 1 page does not make sense, nor does it make sense from a ranking perspective as I also want the homepage to rank for the new set of KWs I will be targeting The only real option I see is attempting to reach out to strong back links with Product 1 anchor text (or context) & asking them the switch the URL to the Product 1 interior page. Combine this with proper site-wide internal linking to the new Product 1 interior page & an anchor text link on the homepage to the new Product 1 interior page. Am I missing something? Am I dismissing either one of the above options too easily. Am I over-thinking this (yes probably)? Would love another set of eyes on this.

Getting citations from different cities for a travelling band
Hi mozzers! i play in a band that is based in Austin, TX but travels to all cities across texas. I've been told i need to have citations in place to help my organic rankings in the cities across Texas that i perform in. 1. What are the best ways to get citations to rank locally in each city for my band? i have a page set up on my website for each city that we perform in. Do i set up accounts on local business directories in each city that i perform in with a link to that city page on my site? I have performers that i hire in each city and can use their address for the local address on each business listing but my business phone number would be the same for all cities. I don't want this to look black hat to google by filling out business listings for many different cities with the same phone humber but my customers are in fact in all these major cities almost more than in my home town. 2. Since i can only fill out a google places page for my home city, what other ways can i get citations to help my organic rankings in all the cities that i perform in? Thanks in advance for everyone's input! Ron

Can i use the same keyword or similar keyword on title tag of multiple page ?
Greetings support, I would like to know if i can use similar keywords into my index title tag and than the similar keyword into the title tag of another page from the same site. Example:The site selling ''Dubai Apartments'' ''Dubai Vacation Rentals'' ''Dubai Holiday Apartments'' and ''Dubai Accommodation'' and would like to rank the index page for ''Dubai City Apartments'' and ''Dubai Accommodation'' and the category page /apartments/ for ''Dubai Apartments'' Is this ok ? because I do not want to lose the rank for the index page because it's already higher for ''Dubai City Apartments'' and ''Dubai Apartments'' I also have use this title tag on the home page: Dubai City Apartments | Dubai Accommodation | sitename brand and than i have category page such: /apartments/ title Dubai Apartments | Dubai Apartment Rentals | brandname /vacation-rentals/ title Dubai Vacation Rentals | Holiday Rentals Dubai | brandname /holiday-apartments/ Dubai Holiday Apartments | Dubai Vacation Apartments | brandname P.S. My index page is already rank for keyword such: dubai apartments, dubai holiday apartments, dubai vacation rentals and dubai accommodation but i want to know rank the category page. How to feature in Google restaurant reviews?
Hi, When I Google a restaurant name here in the UK - try "fat duck bray" I see the photo of the restaurant on the right hand side, the Zagat review score and then right at the bottom of this section there is "More Reviews" with links to Urbanspoon, com, qype.co.uk, Zagat.com and Blackbookmag.com (often TripAdvisor will appear here too.) To one of the sites I work with these are all the competition so the natural question is how would one appear here? I've never seen anything covering this before so interested if anyone else has read anything on this or has any experience on this. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Is Rel=author appropriate for non-article type pages, a.k.a. business websites
I understand I can use Rel=author with Google+ for article's I write, and I understand I can use the same code for regular websites, which I'm still waiting to see show up in the SERPs, but my question is as follows... Is Rel=author appropriate for regular business websites (since we are business owners, not authors of articles), or is there some other Schema.org tag that should be used which will also show our images in the SERPs? I'd like my business logo to show up in the SERPs for my business page and my personal photo to show up for my blog pages.

One Page desapeared from Google results over the weekend.
Has anyone had this happen? My page (just one page) is gone from the search results. Not only did we lose our position in Google (we were #9) now the entire page is completely gone from Google index. However, It is on the first page of Bing and Yahoo. We did have our server down from Friday to Monday. I went into Google webmaster tools on Monday and saw a big X next to sitemap. It said HTTP Error 404 detected on August 21, 2011. So Google went in on Sunday and came up with the error. But why only one page is missing and all the other pages still show up? I was thinking that page was blacklisted by Google but when I went to Webmaster Tools to listen to "Requesting reconsideration of your site" video all they talk about is the "site" being blacklisted not a particular page. Any one has any ideas?
