Which is better, have our location in the title or have a title that is 66 characters?
-
I was told by an SEO company that I need to put our name and location in every page title, however, an seomoz.org campaign gave me warnings for having a page title that is too long. Which is better, have our location in the title or have a title that is 66 characters? We have both a physical and online store, so it would still be nice to direct foot traffic to our physical store.

It's best practice to have your business name in the page title, after the primary keyword (and secondary if using one) . Including the location of your business at the end will also help that particular page rank higher for when a user performs a search with the location in their query.
Google will only display 70 characters of the page title in the search results but the robots will still read on past 70 characters.
As long as the page title does not contain repeated keywords or keyword stuffed then you shouldn't worry about going over the recommended 70 if it's your business name and location at the end of the title tag. It's only my opinion but I wouldn't recommend going over 85.

If your location is part of your targeted keyword,, I would go with the longer keyword that exceed 66 characters. Basically when someone finds your page on a SERp it will display the first 66(ish) characters followed by**...**
Its best to have your title structured:
keyword | Brand Name

Alt and title tags on images
For SEO, are alt and title tags still worth the effort? Or have they gone the way of meta keywords? I can see having alt tags for visually impaired reasons, but at this point is there any SEO reason to use them?

Can I use Same Keyword for Multi pages Title Tags?
Hello All, I am working on client website and currently they are targeting One Keywords for multi pages. As I have search with Allintitle: Search query and Google display around 37 pages of website which carry same keyword in "Title Tags". I have told to client to change the "Title Tags" but they want that keyword for all relevant pages. So I want to know is that harm in Search Engine Ranking? Note: They have not done the link building activities for multi pages with same Keyword, they are using only in "Title Tags" only

Hello. I am thinking of changing our home page title tag to include our two most valuable keywords from two of our sub-pages. Would this help the rankings of those two sub-pages? Thank you!

One Webpage per Topic or splitting up for better reading...?
What is better from a SEO-Point of View: I am building right now a website where the principal topic is Renewable Energies. There will be a menu listing all kinds of Energy-types: Biogas CSP Biomass etc. And now my question: Each Topic has about 800-1000 Words of unique content with sub-topics. I think its certainly good to have for each energy type one separate page. But I think its no a good Idea to split also the subtopics up to further sub-pages like: www.energy.com/renewable-energies-biomass.html www.energy.com/renewable-energies-biomass-eficiency.html www.energy.com/renewable-energies-biomass-market.html www.energy.com/renewable-energies-biomass-industries.html as 1000 Words on one page may look like better higher quality content than making 3-4 pages with just 200 Words... talking about Biomass, but from several points of views. So I think its better to put all about Biomass on one single-page and use a menu just to jump to the subtopics via anchor-tags. Right? 🙂 Thanks Kate and Charles! Meanwhile I found out whats the right term for my question: "Pagination" I read about using the rel="next" and rel="prev" attribute when paginating an article over different pages.

MY DOUBT: Sometimes you see single page paginated by using javaScript that hides text although all is in the page source, for better reading. Does Google like that or might think it could be hidden text with spamming purpose? So I think using old school "named anchors" to divide text into topics (for text about 1000 words) is better than using javaScript that reaveals text via pagination or expand collapse.0 -
Title tag formatting
So I thought I had Title tags cracked... Unique to each page Priority phrases at the start Under 70 characters inc spaces No spamming of keyword phrase Brand at the end But do people believe that this structure is bad? <keyword 1="" phrase="">| <keyword 2="" phrase="">|<brand></brand></keyword></keyword> and that Title tags should now be structure more like full sentences? And does using the same keyword phrase on several pages dilute or cannibalize results? Thanks

Meta description tags & title tags duplicate content?
Although meta description tags have no impact on rankings - can there be a negative effect from having many duplicate meta title + description tags with just 1-2 words switched out?
