Over Optimization and how to fix it
-
Hey Y'all,
I had a question about over-optimization. So if I'm targeting "Social Security Lawyer Allen, TX" on the home page, then "SSDI Lawyer Allen, TX," on another page, could that be hurting my efforts on Google?
Should I remove all of the efforts targeted toward Allen, TX on the other page, or should I maybe target like a different city?

There is a new Doorway pages algorithm coming that could potentially catch this kind of optimization out. Unfortunately, until it is released it is difficult to say how severe it will be.
You can read more here:

Could I try to target a different city for the landing page in question? Do you forsee that causing any issues?
Thanks!

There are no issues with targeting two different keywords to two different pages on your site. However in this case it seems to me that they are so closely related even synonymous, that targeting two different pages with what essentially is the same search intent but with a different keyprhase that you might have better luck only optimizing one page. That way any link equity is being directed towards one page rather than split between two. All on-page content would be completely unique rather than closely related to the other page, internal links would all be directed to one landing page etc....
From a user perspective I would think that when using either search they are looking for the same thing which is a Lawyer in Allen Texas who specializes in Social Security Disability. IMO I would optimize one page to meet both searches and then 301 redirect the other page to it.

Hi,
No IMO Its absolutely fine you can target different keywords on different pages .That is not called Over Optimization. Please feel free to ask if you have any follow up question.
Thanks

Optimizing a URL/menu structure
Hi Mozzers, I'm working on Content Strategy at my job, and I'm close to making some recommendations on short/long-term direction. While I'm there, I want to tackle the URL/menu structure (correct term?), which is a bit of a mess as pages have been created without any consideration for it over time. For ease, let's just say we have 3 main subdirectories of the site (Section A-C), and let's also say that section A also has 3 important subdirectories. From a UX perspective at least, we want a page to look like: example.com/sectionA/subsectionAA/page1 but currently it's example.com/page1 We have dozens and dozens of these examples. To complicate matters a little further, Sections B and C have been earmarked to be consolidated into a new section (D), as they're currently confusing and overlapping, and create roadblocks in user journeys. So a page that is, say: example.com/sectionB/page2 may well want to be: example.com/sectionD/subsectionDA/page2 I'm comfortable enough with technically doing this, as I'm experienced enough in Drupal and have an agency on hand too, BUT - I don't know if there are any SEO pitfalls I need to be wary of when I'm doing this, beyond resubmitting sitemaps, and the trickle-down effects of redirects. Any advice, wise forum? thanks!

Is there some reputed company/person which can fix the SEO issues for me?
One of my websites http://forum32.com/ was ruling the roost shortly after it launched. We cover BTS (behind the scenes) etc of the TV shows that my production company makes. But then it all went downhill. I do understand that my readership fluctuates with the number of shows I am doing and therefore covering but for a show like "Qubool Hai" which has been running for the past 3 years and we do almost two posts about it - we rank nowhere. Could posting about this "too much" be a problem? Anyway I have been breaking my head over this for the past six months and spent a lot of time trying to set this right but: 1. I am running out of time as I am about to start directing another show. 2. I am not even sure if what I am doing is right! Can any person/company Which is well trusted help me out of this situation? On Page Optimization, F on all keywords?
On our website we have all F's even though we have the targeted keyword in the title, url, meta desc, h1, body and some of the img alt's. They still show zero uses of the keyword. Are we missing something here or is this some kind of bug or glitch? Any help or advice is appreciated, Thanks. Keyword optimization of main keyword across site.
My site is optimized for keyword "payment gateway" but it seems for each keyword only one page should be optimized as per good SEO. So if I've a page about Paypal then how should I spread the keywords? Here the main will be Paypal and site keyword will be payment gateway. It means site should have more Paypal than payment gateway. But can payment gateway be in 3rd or 4th position in density? Similarly how should I create other pages? How search engines determine the site authority based on keyword? ( let us ignore the external backlinks, context of them and anchor texts).

Optimizing for another keyword than the menu name
Hi I would like to hear if someone could help me decide whether or not it is important regarding SEO that the menu name is the same as the keyword we want to rank for. The site is a static site and one of our most important keywords. To give an example. Our menu name is "cars" and we want to rank for "cheap rental cars".

Can you optimize for 2 keywords per URL?
Or should you just stick to 1 page, 1 keyword all the time? If you do 2, are there any things you should watch out for? Thanks
