Self linking - loss of link juice?
-
There are 10 links on page that point to this page where they exist (link to the page itself). Does it influence on ranking? And what's happening to link juice? How does it spread? Is there any loss of it?

Note: This question was asked a second time at http://moz.com/community/q/self-linking-2.
-
I don't see any reason why those would be harmful, since they're not actually links - they're references to JavaScript itself. That means that it's not going to affect rankings or anything of the sort. But it also seems unnecessary to use JS for a menu in that way. Users aren't going to notice or care, but I think it's an odd choice from a UI perspective.

For example, on this page http://www.templatemonster.com/ there are such blocks of "Sign In", "Help & Support" (on the top from the right side) and so on, and they are made with the help of JavaScript. They contain such links as <a <="" span="">href="</a>#"...
For instance:
<a <span="" class="html-attribute-name">href</a><a <span="" class="html-attribute-name">="</a>#" id="your-account-link">Hello, class**="icon-arrow-small-down">**<a <span="" class="html-attribute-name">href</a><a <span="" class="html-attribute-name">="</a>#" class="sign-out-btn" id="signout-link">class="sign-out">Sign Out
<a <span="" class="html-attribute-name">href</a><a <span="" class="html-attribute-name">="</a>#" class="sign-in" id="signin-link">Sign Inclass****="icon-arrow-small-down">
<a <span="" class="html-attribute-name">href</a><a <span="" class="html-attribute-name">="</a>#">Help & Supportclass****="icon-arrow-small-down">

Bryan is right. More details will be needed to determine what you're asking, but there is plenty of research on site here about the onpage variety of links (#). For example: http://moz.com/ugc/the-true-potential-of-anchor-links- These are both useful to search engines and users.
-
Could you show us an example of what you're talking about? Depending on what kind of link, it may be innocuous (like example.com/# for referencing a different section of a page) or pointless and harmful (like if the page example.com/X has an in-text link to example.com/X).

Will short linking to my site affect SERPs attribution of inbound link?
Some brand partners are using their short links to link back to our site (like bit.ly but they have their own). They have a high domain authority and trust so we want that link back to be read by Google. When I downloaded all inbound links from Moz, this brand's site was not listed, making me worried that the inbound link isn't being seen or considered! Haven't been able to find any info on this...

Reciprocal links
Are they worth anything, if they are from relevant sites? I'm I better off avoiding linking back wherever possible?

Multiple Links from High Ranking Site Vs. Links from Multiple Domains - What's More Important?
I understand it is important to get links from many quality domains. Currently, I do have links from top domains (PR, Trust) and it I can get more from (high rank) pages on these same domains. Would it be better to focus on expanding my reach (find additional domains to link from) or to continue to build links from the current domains I have a connection with? What is weighted more? I realize doing both is important, but trying to figure out how to best use my time. Thanks! David

No inbound links ?
Hello I just got SeoMoz, started the whole thing and compared myself to my competitor. I'm writing for mayor national newspapers in latin america, been featured a few major sites, and got a whole lot of links directing to muy site. I recently moved domains about a month ago from rxmagaizne.mx to rxmagazine.co. Is this the reason i'm not seeing any links ? ibIPY.png

What would you do about dead inbound links?
Hey guys, I recently asked a question similar to this, but wanted to spark up a bit of a discussion around it to see what everyone's feelings were on it. The web is always changing - as we're all too aware - so links you may have obtained (by however means) let's say 2 years ago may not be 'active' now. By that I mean you may have had a link from "example_-website.com" in 2010 and now "example-_website.com" is no longer an active website - but still shows a parked domain. The thing is... this parked domain is still cropping up in OSE, suggesting that Google may still believe there's a link there - and may not have re-crawled that site to prove otherwise. The issue I've had with this is an SEO company built links to the sites I'm working on now (one of the sites has been penalised as a result of their link building). These links aren't 'active' anymore and when viewed on OSE, they just head straight to a parked domain with no visible (or in-source) link to my site. What are everyone's feelings on this? What would you all do? I'm in two minds whether to re-write a section of the website.... but I'm swaying towards creating better content and NOT re-directing the old URLs to it (just contact the decent links and ask for a change of link). Looking forward to seeing your responses and speaking to you all! Nick

Do VigLink links get indexed, and then pass SEO juice to the merchant?
You can find the service at viglink.com, they do dynamic linking to anchor text for participating publishers on a cost-per-click basis. Less interested here in the conversion quality and more interested in the broad SEO value. Any ideas?

Link values
I have an interesting question, it's more to see other peoples opinions than looking for an exact answer, as I know noone can give that. If you had a good link on harvard.edu.. how many very low quality links on low DA domains that are full of junk, would you need to match the harvard link... if all other factors were equal. I'm gonna go for 500.. I've had great results with a few high DA/trust links. I'm not looking for anyone to give me a definative answer, just curious as to the views of other SEOs 😄

SEOs and web developers frequently leave links to their site in the footer of their clients' sites. Does this negatively impact the site with the links?
Does this provide any SEO value to the receiving site? Has anyone experienced problems doing this?
