Is there a tool for finding shared interests?
-
Do you know know if a tool exists that shows shared common interests?
For example, people interested in Soccer are also interested in Cricket, beer and Scarlett Johansson.
The data might could come from social media or search queries.
Anyone seen a tool that does anything like this?

That's really helpful - thanks Keri

Marty Weintraub from Aimclear has talked about doing this via Facebook. You might look at Aimclear's site or ping him on Twitter to get a bit more info.

Google Analytics has the option to capture demographic and interests information about website users. It is not as granular as what you are describing, but might give you a direction in which to start looking.

Thanks guys - appreciate the responses
The reason for my asking is to help clients looking for related content topics that will be of interest to their clients.
For example, a company selling business insurance may find that their clients are not so interested in reading content about business insurance but they may be interested in marketing, gold, travel or Scarlett Johansson.
I'm sure there will be lots of common searches among any group, but I was wondering if there was a tool that looked for these interesting and less common correlations.

Sharing interest data is very hard to gather since people with different interests are searching for the same thing when they need it. I did research for client of our and we have used survey monkey pro version, which came out with pretty interesting results. They offer free option as well and you can customize it to your needs. It could not be best, but I am sure its worth a try.

I have never come across anything like this. The next best thing for me is sharing freshly created content to Linkedin groups, Google+ page & Groups and occasionally FB groups. As long as the groups are relevant to the content we share, it starts the ball rolling with traffic and shares etc. I guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve in targeting these users.

Is there a tool that will find a string from the source code from a list of URLs?
I need a tool that will run through a long list of URLs (from multiple domains), look for a specific string in the source code and then produce a CSV showing in which URLs the the string was found. This is for legitimate research, not for any nefarious purposes Any ideas of such a tool already exists?

Free Tool that allows you to compare traffic for multiple websites
I'm banging my head on this one. In the past I was able to use Compete.com, Quancast, Google Trends, and Alexa, but now all these sites either required you to have Pro membership (pay) or they discontinue it like Google Trends for website. I need to do this comparison for one of my client... their traffic versus 4 of their competitors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Have a blessed Day, Benny

Privacy Policy requirements for Demos and Interests in Google Analytics
I have a client who is activating the Demographics and Interests in Google Analytics, and I need to provide an appropriate privacy policy, per Google's TOS. Can anybody suggest what to state in the privacy policy? Google says: "If you’ve implemented Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting, you must also disclose in your privacy policy: How you use data from Google's Interest-based advertising or 3rd-party audience data (such as age, gender, and interests) with Google Analytics." So, I guess it's advisable to state that the site gathers "3rd-party audience data." Is it enough to say that the info is being used to better understand and communicate with the website visitor?

E-commerce SEO when products are shared between sites
We have a couple of e-commerce sites that sell the same product. One focuses more on a niche category of the products, while the others contains a wide variety of products. Will we be hit with a penalty from google if the product descriptions are the same? If so, how much of a difference in content does there need to be? There are only so many ways to describe the product and it is usually done in a couple sentences. The rest of the product description contains bullet points of the products and is the same for each product. We are also looking for a SEO company to work with and wondered if there are companies out there that specialize in e-commerce seo that can work with a small ($500 month) budget. I've looked through the recommended companies directory here, but it seems most have minimum retainers around $1000 a month. Also, what should I look for in an SEO company?

Can I use Google Analytics to find out actual times of visits during the day??
Hi, I'm a newbie at all this - I hope someone can help me. We're thinking of running time-specific offers to try and convert as many of our customer site visits as possible e.g. 15% discount if you call between, say, 2 and 5pm. It would be really helpful to me to find out what times of day people are visiting our site. I can't seem to find a way to do this on Google Analytics. Can anyone help? Thanks so much Sue
