Is link exchanging ok in 2015
-
hi
i wanted to check if link exchanging is ok and not considered as black-hat seo technique in 2015 if its used as part of a link building strategy, and what percentage of links can be used a from link exchanges.
-
I think that some link exchanging is ok provided that it makes sense for my customers and that it's not done to a crazy scale. But, I wouldn't recommend doing it via a "links" page. I think that in some cases if you can work the link into a blog post and your partner does the same, then this is ok. But, if you're having trouble finding a way to naturally mention this website, then perhaps it's only a link that would be there for SEO purposes and not one you should pursue.
I have reviewed a large number of backlink profiles and it is pretty obvious when someone is doing link exchange just to boost their PR and conversely where there are reciprocal links there that just make sense. If I'm a real estate agent and I recommend a particular house inspector and if that house inspector recommends me, there is no problem with that. But, if I am recommending 100 house inspectors who are also recommending me then there's a problem. Or, if I am recommending payday loans providers and casinos, then something seems wrong with that.

hi thanks for replying
so our linkout was to be no-follow from our domain to others. the link back was to be do follow.
-
If all links are no follow, you have no issue.
-
hi thanks for your responses.
the link exchanges were to be for same sector related websites. We were going to offer no-follow links back to these websites.
the benefit was aimed at a couple things.
1 as they are travel related, people might find us in their links
2. the link juice will pass to us if they are do-follow -
I agree with Alick300. From how you have phrased your question it sounds like you are doing it purely for link building which Google doesn't like... at all.

Hi,
No link exchange is not OK .
Thanks

Are you doing a link exchange to boost Pagerank? - Bad idea
Are you doing a link exchange because the traffic is likely to convert - Good idea
Are you doing a link exchange to boost your rankings - Bad idea
Are you doing a link exchange because it provides a relevant resource useful to your audience - Good idea
Most people that do link exchanges are using an outdated seo mentality from 10 years ago. They can't accept that things have changed and will continue to change. Links are still valuable (just look at how much referral traffic comes through relevant links) but Google is no longer a simple formula that is easy to trick. You need to be careful and make smarter business decisions. Not every link is a smart link but there still are many good opportunities.

How do I find links that link to several competitor sites?
I want to find linking pages that link to several of my competitors. Those are likely to be lists of tools I can also add my website to. My application is a dashboard tool/kanban board. So if I find a page linking both to say kanbannery.com and kanbanflow.com it will be likely to be a collection of links to kanban tools, ad my application can be relatively easy added. Magestic SEO has a "clique hunter" - is there anything similar in MOZ suite of tools?

Should I get these links removed?
Hi, I am trying to clean up the seo of my website. Recently stopped using a professional which might have been using grey hat tactics. I am researching, researching , researching but having trouble pulling the trigger on what I am finding. I have a couple old link exchanges going on. They are quite old. Some of them are on the footer of a website, and therefore bring in a lot of links (ie every time a new page is created). I am wondering if I should ask to get these links removed.. My link profile is pretty bad(at least according to me), nothing extremely bad, but lots of leftover of links coming from petitions, forums etc.. that I can't get removed. I have recently gotten some mention on good website but they have a way around linking directly to any website so I dont get much help from that.. If you guys need my website I can share if need be. thanks!

Do No follow links from social media platforms transfer authority or value when they link to third party websites?
With social media playing a bigger role in SEO (since the Panda, Penguin updates etc) and how search engines rank sites now, does anybody know why Twitter for instance has 'no follow' when I check my client's websites under 'inbound links' on Open Site Explorer?

3-Way Link Exchange Method - Does it Work?
Hello People, I have been searching for a service to help us with our link building and have been talking to a company that uses the 3-Way link exchange method and my question is: Does it work well? Below I pasted an email from this company explaining their method. Thanks in advance to everyone! =============================== Our success rate is about 80%. For one way links, we use 3 way link exchange method for making links. Suppose your site is A. My website is B. My friends website is C and friend's client's site is D. I will add a link on B linking to D and my friend will add a link on C linking to A. This is the procedure we use for making links. We check the quality of the website before putting link on it. The site will be completely relevant, no spam links will present there and the page will be minimum of PR1. ================================

What link would be better?
Okay, I found a niche blog that has a google PR6. They have a ton of dollow blogroll links, as well as a ton of internal links on homepage. Would I be better off getting the blogroll link? Getting a link in an existing post with a lower PR? Getting an advertiorial written with a link in it? I just don't know. It has a domain authority of 33 currently. It's not a cheap link for blogroll. The in-post, or advertorial isn't too bad, but not cheap either. Thanks in advance.
