Using images from one domain on another?
-
I run a travel photography business where I sell fine art prints. I've been toying with the idea of creating a few new websites about some of the places I've traveled to. This is for a few reasons. First, because I love talking about my travels. But second, because I feel like it might be a good way to bring in more print sales from those places. The question I have, if I were to use the images from my main photography sales domain on a different domain, how does this affect SEO? These images filenames for the photographs are already optimized well for searching.
Thanks!

Awesome advice here from Dirk!

It will not affect the normal search - most sites use stockphoto's, and you see the same pictures appearing on hundreds of sites.
For image search, these new sites will compete with the existing site. If you're current site looks like iStockphoto or similar, these new sites will probably outrank the existing one as the textual context of the images will be much richer than the standard tags you find on a typical stock photo site. This is not necessarily a bad thing, if you manage to get your potential customers to the main site to buy the images. You could also consider to integrate the new content as a blog on the main domain. It's better to reinforce an existing domain with new interesting content, rather than to start different new smaller domains and this way you won't have any traffic cannibalisation.
Hope this helps,
Dirk

Hello Mickey,
Well, you can tell Google that the original source of the pictures is the one you use at your sales domain using a link or something like that towards your preferred domain, in order to avoid duplicated content and a Google ban in one of the sites...
I don't see any SEO problem here.

301 Old Domain Name with relevant domain name
We have a number of historical domain names that we are thinking of 301 redirecting to industry relevant domains.
Technical SEO | | barry.oneil
Currently the domains we wish to redirect are not active and have been down since march 2018.
As far as we know there is no bad reputation on these domains, but we think there are still links out there in the wild on possibly relevant blog posts. Would there be any negative affect on the target domain? Thanks0 -
Domain forwarding or redirects for SEO?
Hi all! A client of mine owns several top level domains which are not in use, let's call them example.nu, example.de, example.net and so on. The current website is example.com.
Technical SEO | | JHultqvist
When checking the technical status of the unused domains I realized that all but one are forwarded (via DNS) to example.com and only one has a 301 redirect. Should I redirect all of them by means of 301 or let them stay forwarded? Very few of the domains have any other sites linking to them. Any thoughts would be really appreciated! Jesper0 -

Will This Domain Change Hurt
I have a potential client that is looking to change their domain for branding reasons, but does not want to lose their solid SERP position. I'm not concerned about links continuing to pass juice as he was (though I am concerned about the link profile). What I am concerned about is domain age (moving from a 4 year old domain to one that has just been parked for 4 years but not used, or one that is currently just a redirect to his site), and the fact that his current URL is an EMD. He is using his state (only really does work there), plus two solid keywords in the domain, and wants to switch to brand name with one of the two solid keywords he was using. My initial thought is "if it's not broke, don't fix it." How worried should I be about rankings if we change this domain. Thanks for the help, and fire back any questions. Sorry I'm a little vague.

Domain redirect seo
Hello, my domain www.pacomarca.com and when i start the new campaing i get this pronblem: We have detected that the domain www.pacomarca.com and the domain pacomarca.com both respond to web requests and do not redirect. Having two "twin" domains that both resolve forces them to battle for SERP positions, making your SEO efforts less effective. We suggest redirecting one, then entering the other here. my domain is in networksolutions.com. how can i resolve it? many thanks Gonzalo

Keyword in Domain or not?
My on page optimization grade is an "A" with the following factors; Factor Overview <dl class="scoreboard clearfix"> <dt>Critical Factors</dt> <dd>4 / 4</dd> <dt>High Importance Factors</dt> <dd>7 / 7</dd> <dt>Moderate Importance Factors</dt> <dd>8 / 9</dd> <dt>Low Importance Factors</dt> <dd>11 / 11</dd> <dt>Optional Factors</dt> <dd>5 / 5</dd> </dl> The main thing I appear to be missing is keywords in my URL. How truly important is that in today's SEO world and how much time or ranking would be lost if I do not have control to change the external links to my website if I decided to migrate to a keyword relevant url?

How to attach at text to image that other websites use from my website
I often have other websites link to my website. They will do this with an image that they pull off of my website. (actually my website continues to serve the image). These inbound links are great, but they don't have alt text. Is there a way for me to attach alt text to the images, or is this something the other website needs to code themselves?

Two domains One hosting account
I have two separate domains set up on one hosting account through godaddy. Will this affect the SEO negatively? They are completely different sites with their own unique domains but on my local files the second domain is set up as a subfolder for the original hosted domain. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
