Is adwords data in organic ranking relevant?
-
we have noticed that without our adwords, our bounce rate is about half (outstanding rate) as compared to when we enable adwords (relatively bad). This of course amplifies across the board for other engagement metrics. So basically it looks like our website is not deemed too relevant and engaging when we bring in PC as compared to organic views.
Does anyone have information if the search engines use this data without correcting out the PC visitors brought through adwords? this would mean to us that without having adwords we have a much better chance of ranking organically. very curious about what your experiences are as experts!
Thank you in advance!
Cheers,
Nima

Martijn is completely correct. Organic & Paid in no way assist in the other's performance.
The piece of information you are lacking in this is what keywords are people coming to your site for. Your brand, of course. but there are other nuances to organic that keeps your time on site up than from PPC. You might not want to be using your home page for your PPC Brand traffic either. It might be too broad for the fast clickers who tend to click on ads. Making sure that you're sending them to a landing page on your site that answers pertinent questions most users are looking for will liekly help with your time on site.
Also, make sure that your PPC account isn't broad matching to your brand name. You will want to make sure you're using a modified broad match on your brand and keeping your PPC account in good shape or else it will pull in irrelevent traffic and not perform as well as it should.

Hi Nima,
First of all Adwords metrics doesn't effect Organic metrics/results or ranking, in your case that is bounce rate.
Such question asked several times and each time Google says no Adwords doesn't affect organic result.
Where are you seeing combined bounce rate (Adwords +Organic) in analytics dashboard? As far as I know both data shows separately in GA.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
-
Yes, they'll probably track the user data for both separate things: organic v.s. paid but they don't use the data from one side to strong arm the other side as they're two separate systems for ranking.
-
so analytics keeps the adwords traffic data seperate in the background?
and they track the ips of the traffic data coming from paid ads and keep treat that data differently?
-
Hello,
Here is one of my favorite pie charts! It shoes that CTR & Bounce Rate Is used to measure results, but I'm not sure if AdWords CTR & Bounce Rate is included in that.
Thanks,
- Mike

Hi Nima,
The data from Adwords is not used in any way to determine any of the results on organic search.

Dislodged own ranking with poorer quality page?
Hi, So last week we where ranking within the top two pages for google for a results page at something like rank 21 - https://www.whichledlight.com/t/g9-led-bulbs We have been tracking this page and earned a few decent domain authority links here. Today when the new rankings came in it looks like a blog page we wrote a while back has jumped several pages to number 13 in the rankings - ok so not the end of the world BUT our results page seems to have disappeared from the rankings. You can see from the screen shot in the attached link at some point Moz / Google has noted that both the pages are relevent in some capaicty. Has Google decided that because both pages are from the site and both are showing ranking signals for the same traffic that one should go? It also seems weird that this blog one would come from nowhere to rank so highly in the course of a week. Perhaps they have changed their algorithm? This is a bit of a concern for us as it is unclear whats happened - especially after we where so close to getting to page one for a valued search term. SBZRaIq

Lost rankings in the last week
In the last week, my website's rankings dropped for a number of keywords. This is the first time I have seen a net drop (and it's significant) in my SEOMoz rankings report (been climbing consistently since January), and I haven't changed my strategy at all. Can anyone shed some light on this? I noticed that my two major competitors have both lost domain rank as well.

Rankings traffic percentages
Hi All, It seems that some keywords that are receiving a fairly high amount of monthly traffic such as 6000 hits are passing very little traffic to my website. for a few keywords recieving this amount of traffic my site ranks on page one. is there a breakdown of what percentage of traffic you should roughly get to your website depending on the rank for a certain keyword. example; position 1 send approximately % traffic to your site position 2 send approximately % traffic to your site etc thank you

My homepage doesn't rank anymore. It's been replaced by irrelevant subpages which rank around 100-200 instead of top 5.
Hey guys, I think I got some kind of penalty for my homepage. I was in top5 for my keywords. Then a few days ago, my homepage stopped ranking for anything except searching for my domain name in Google. sitename.com/widget-reviews/ previously ranked #3 for "widget reviews"

but now....
sitename.com/widget-training-for-pet-cats/ is ranking #84 for widget reviews instead. Similarly across all my other keywords, irrelevant, wrong pages are ranking. Did I get some kind of penalty?0 -
Pages On Subfolder Not Ranking
A subdirectory/folder on our website doesn't seem to rank for any keywords where the same type of pages on the same competition level keywords rank perfectly fine. For awhile the pages weren't getting indexed but were crawled regularly. Can't seem to figure the problem out.
