Two Analytics Code
-
Hi Moz Community!
I've been working with a client’s website and found it has 2 analytics code with same ID. I need to understand which one is correct before removing anyone of them, below are the both scripts.
First one
Second one
Any help would be appreciated!

I understand, but my point is, while replacing the outdated analytics code, with same UA Id, is this going to affect eCommerce tracking?
-
Hi,
For e-commerce tracking two options are available - you could use the "normal" e-commerce tracking or the enhanced e-commerce tracking. Enhanced e-commerce is the newest & most advanced way of tracking.
Both would require some additional coding - you can find how to implement them on the links above - or check these articles (Understanding enhanced e-commerce tracking & Implementing enhanced e-commerce tracking).
Hope this helps,
Dirk

Thanks Dirk,
The code I am talking about is for E-commerce website, By changing the code, dose it effect on eCommerce tracking or Google tag manager?
-
Hi,
Both codes are outdated (the first one seems to miss a part) - it's better to use the universal tracking code which looks like this:
This script should be put just before closing the head tag.
You can check the implementation with the Analytics Chrome plugin to see if everything is ok: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-analytics-by-google/fnbdnhhicmebfgdgglcdacdapkcihcoh
Rgds,
Dirk

Google Analytics, new property or views?
Hi All We have an existing Google analytics account which was customised relatively heavily a few years back, with custom variables, e-commerce tracking and the a large number of filters. We have determined that the custom variables and e-commerce tracking, at least for now, are no longer required and actually complicating our lives. We want to simplify the account and add a fresh set of goals and events. Our initial train of thought was to create an entire new property with the usual views, raw, test, main etc. We are proposing to retain both properties (6 months) so we can still do some comparative stuff. We're now wondering if we should retain the existing property and just create new views, the downside being that whilst we can compare data with previous periods it's meaningless to some degree as the filters etc are different. The plus of more views is that we're not firing the tag twice retaining two properties. Views and opinions welcome. Thanks

Pairing webmaster tools with analytics - user access
If you pair webmaster tools with an analytics account does this auto allow access for any of the authorised analytics users or do they have to be granted access individually from within GWT ? cheers dan

Intranet analytics
Anyone got any suggestions for good intranet analytics? We can't use Google Analytics because the ga.js JavaScript will only work if the intranet can be accessed using a domain name that is fully qualified, but ours is http://intranet. Also, we don't want user data sent to a remote server via the ga.js script. Our intranet is built on SharePoint if that helps. Thanks

Analytics Showed Steady Growth Until Now?
Last 10 weeks have seen steady growth in visitors and pages viewed, yet this week it has dropped a bit from last week (virtually stagnant). Is our user base simply hitting a plateau, or is there another reason?

Can you re sit the Google analytics IQ test?
Damn I just failed the Google analytics IQ test with a score of 65% 😞 You need 80% to pass... My natural instinct is to resit but after 30 mins of googling around Ive got no answer to the following question: "Can you resit the Google Analytics IQ test for free or do you have to pay again". Any insights welcome...

Do Google Analytics filters affect link building?
We recently made a few link wheels for specific product pages. We've been having great results with all of the wheels except for one. The one we are having issues with is the only link that we were using a Google Analytics filter on; it looks like this http://domain.com/page.htm?zSource=Specific Keyword%tracking My question is does Google ignore links that are obviously utilizing their analyitcs custom filters? We're doing some more testing to try to find out if it truly is the link or if the wheel is a bad one. There are so many things that could go wrong but with so many of our link wheels working well, I wonder if the filters are what is causing such results.
