Blog keywords for wordpress/duplicate keywords an issue?
-
Would you treat the blogs that businesses do the same as their subdomains/landing pages and putting different focus keywords in their blogs/wordpress and meta tags? So you put something different for each of the blog based on content/location/etc and nothing duplicates? Would that affect the rankings that much in regards to blog seo keyword similarities/duplicate descriptions?
-
The keywords meta tag doesn't really do anything, so there's no need to even use it. The description tag isn't used as a ranking factor anymore, so you should use that space to craft a message that will entice users to click through from the search result. You may still want to use the target keyword of the post in the description, to reinforce to users that the post is about what they're looking for.
If you're using an SEO WordPress plugin that has you enter a specific keyword for the page so it can tell you how well the page is optimized for that term, the best way to figure out what keywords to target for each blog post is to do some research around what that post is about. You can also do it the other way - do some keyword research to find topics that users might be interested in that you'd like to create some blog posts about.

I understand that and I appreciate your response but I was meaning about what my photography clients should put in the seo portions. Their meta tags/descriptions. Their focus keywords. Not exactly what they put in for content for the blog itself but what they put for it behind the scenes.

Having a lot of blog posts with duplicate content isn't going to provide much SEO value - it's also not going to be that interesting for people to read. Why should they read a bunch of blog posts that are all the same? As long as the website is sending clear location signals and your Google My Business page, etc. are all claimed and consistent, there won't be any additional value from putting the same location over and over on each blog post or internal page.
Instead, take some time to think about what makes each portrait or post unique. One thing I've had great success with when it comes to photographer clients is taking some time to write about what makes each photo shoot unique, whether that's the location, theme, props, the person whose picture is being taken, etc. "Stephen really loves lacrosse, so he wanted to make sure his senior portraits included his lacrosse stick. We took his gear out to Woodland Park and had a blast shooting these action portraits!" is a way more interesting thing to read than "Senior portraits Seattle WA senior pictures Seattle Edmond Bellevue."
Blog posts are an opportunity to target some great long-tail SEO keywords, but they're also an opportunity for your client to show what makes their brand unique and connect with potential customers.

I was implying about the seo of each blog. Like for photographers. I have a lot of photographers as clients... and they blog tons of blogs with portraits. Should they be putting in the same location over and over and same duplicate content since there really isn't a huge change between blog post content?

If I get you correctly, yeah I would avoid one-on-one duplicate targeting / page title / meta decriptions for the blog and the other "normal" landing pages.
On the blog you can go for more broader topics, which are surrounding your main keywords - usually you want to rank for you best phrases/keywords not with the blog, but with your "normal" landingpages.

Will the articles or blog-posts will get more visibility and do better in ranking by publishing them in different formats like videos?
Hi all, I just wonder how much the different formats of an actual content will bring more ranking improvement or visibility for an article or blog-post or landing page. If a topic has been created in video and slides, will that helps landing page at Google technically? Thanks

How to autofollow anyone who tweets/retweets my blog?
I'm not sure if here is the right place for this Q but since followerwonk is one of the SEOmoz tools, I thought I'd try. I want to autofollow anyone who tweets or retweets specific URLs (my blog posts on a large blog). Does anyone know how to do this? They often don't @mention me in the tweets, I just see them all on topsy. I get 50-100 a day and at the moment have been manually going through and following all those people. It's been a useful exercise so far to see what types of people are tweeting my stuff, but now it has got super tedious!

How to coordinate blog, facebook and twitter.
I have a small law firm with a website including a blog, as well as accounts with Twitter and FB. I usually write a blog on the website then reference and link to that blog from twitter and FB. I also do short blogs that are basically links to other interesting articles about my field, and link to those as well. Is this helpful or correct from he perspective of SEO for the website? Is there a particular way to do this? I have much to learn so any comments are welcome. Many thanks.

How to track the performance of my guest blog posts?
I am doing some guest blog posting.and I want to measure how successful my effort was: when deciding the value of the links from the article Does google take into account how many times the article is read? Because some people do not bother taking further actions (like/share/clicks) even they like it. how do you guys check the amount of reader of those articles? I can't track this article views through analytics obviousely. On the other hand let say the article create valuable info to the readers (many people read it) but no likes/shares/bookmarks would this still be a successful article marketing?

How long until Social Spam achieves the same notoriety/problem as Link Spam used to be
What are people's thoughts on whether or not social spam will become a major problem soon, just like forum profile/blog comment spam, etc, and what do you think the search engines will do about companies that are blatantly gaming the social signals game I.E. since social proof seems to be google's answer to combating anchor text manipulation and content farms, what do you think will be google's answer to combating the rampant social spam that will surely overtake us.

Best place to have blog reside
So... I have a fairly new wordpress blog at myblog.com, but the ultimate goal is to drive traffic and increase rankings for mysite.com. With the rise of twitter/facebook influences do you think best to migrate the blog to a directory within www.mysite.com aka www.mysite.com/blog and then 301 direct all the existing pages to the new pages created or is it better to keep the 2 domains seperate and then just have links in the navigation of both sites to each other? My initial thoughts are to incorporate it within www.mysite.com/blog but not 100% sure? Quick follow up question.. Is there an easy code snipit to add to the .htaccss file to 301 direct myblog.com to mysite.com/blog? Thanks for any help and thought on this! John

Working with 3rd PArty Social Media partners / paid blogs
Hi there! We are an ecommerce company based in the UK and are an online butcher. We are looking to further our contribution and authority in a social sphere, in particular develop relations with bloggers and social sites who are realised to have authority in our sphere (food / meat). At present we are active in the usual (Twitter, Facebook etc) and have over 1000 likes and followers. We also have a cool blog which can be found at <cite>www.donaldrussell.com/weblog/index.html</cite> We are looking at our content and would like to share this with other bloggers in return for backlinks and visits from these blogs, and in turn improve our pagerank and SEO ratings. I have been offered the chance to work with EBuzzing, who claim to get your content published and referred to but you have to pay these "bloggers" for the privelage. Is this a good way of furthering our social strategy in the short term, or is this the wrong way to go and do search engines devalue these links? My preference is to organically grow our presence through becoming a valuable contributor and have alsways strongly advocated this, however Ebuzzing or other simillar services sound too good to be true! Are they? Hope you can help me, and look forward to your thoughts. Many thanks Gary
