Is Schema markup inappropriate for ?
-
Is Schema(.org) markup meant specifically to be used on text? Or can you use it in a similar way that you can use Open Graph Protocol?
For example, for awhile I've been using something like this on my site:
Because it's in the head section, it appears on every page. In review, this seems to be an incorrect use? Should I only be using Schema to mark specific text? If not, what are the consequences of using Schema like this?
-
Ok, now I got the questions... sry. I didn't know the answers but I start to google and... I'll be back
-
I know what it is and how to use it, that's not the question.
When you use JSON-LD, specifically in something like the head section, you're using it without context. When this code appears on every page, it's labeling a person that may or may not be mentioned.
From the Google Developer Page on 'Specify your social profiles,'
"The social profiles in your markup must correspond to the ones that users can see on the same page."
It sounds like using this method within the head, especially with phone numbers, email, address, URL, etc., can be marked as either A) hidden text, or B) as something that would cause the rest of your markup to be ignored.
In this case... why would you ever use JSON-LD? It would never directly point to the object that's marked up like the HTML version does.
Maybe that helps clarify the question,
"In review, this seems to be an incorrect use? Should I only be using Schema to mark specific text? If not, what are the consequences of using Schema like this?"
When, exactly, is it appropriate and inappropriate to use Schema? I'm looking for an expansion in details that the Google Developer page doesn't mention. Maybe someone has been using and studying it for awhile?

Thats the Json-LD Mark-Up for a person, wich you can use with google like the microdate. It doesn’t matter if you place it in the or the section, Google will have no problem reading the code. It could look like that:
- <script< span="">type="application/ld+json"></script<>
- {
- "@context":"http://schema.org",
- "@type":"Person",
- "address":{
- "@type":"PostalAddress",
- "addressLocality":"Seattle",
- "addressRegion":"WA",
- "postalCode":"98052",
- "streetAddress":"20341 Whitworth Institute 405 N. Whitworth"
- },
- "colleague":[
- "http://www.xyz.edu/students/alicejones.html",
- "http://www.xyz.edu/students/bobsmith.html"
- ],
- "email":"mailto:jane-doe@xyz.edu",
- "image":"janedoe.jpg",
- "jobTitle":"Professor",
- "name":"Jane Doe",
- "telephone":"(425) 123-4567",
- "url":"http://www.janedoe.com"
- }

FAQ Schema Markup
I was wondering which blog posts would qualify for an FAQ Schema markup. For instance, we have a blog post which is more like a Q&A interview with our customer where our product gets mentioned several times. Would we get dinged for including our product name in the markup? First of all does that kind of blog posts even qualify for the markup? Example of the blog post: https://www.revulytics.com/blog/qa-techsmith-snagit-strategy-lead-daniel-foster

Size of image for article Schema
Hi, I implemented schema markup for an article and all tested fine and I can see it being fired in preview mode of Google Tag Manager. But when I run the URL which has it applied through Google Structured Testing tool it is not appearing. I have now read that the image needs to be a certain size. For AMP articles this appears to be 12oo pixels wide http://www.thesempost.com/google-changes-image-size-requirements-amp-articles/ But what about non-AMP articles? Does it need to be that big too?

Will my site get devalued if I add the same company schema to all the pages of my website?
If I add the exact same schema markup to every page on my website - is it considered duplicate content? Our CMS is telling me that if I want schema mark-up on our site that it has to be the same on every page on the website. This limitation is frustrating but I am trying to figure out the best way to work within their boundaries. Your help is appreciated.

Will Google Data Highlighter support other schemas?
At the moment I see that the Data Highlighter supports a few schemas such as Events, Products, Articles, Restaurants etc. My client has a training division and runs regular training courses so we want to highlight those using the tool as "Training Courses," but this is not an option. Does anyone know why the tool doesn't support more categories and if there are plans to expand what it supports? I realise it would be better to use actual HTML markup onto the client site but their website is administered by their corporate parent in another country and they are not prepared to add in a Wordpress plugin to allow this. But the UK division, that we work for, wants to use it. We have restricted access to the Wordpress site so we don't have the access rights to add in plugins ourselves otherwise it would be no problem to do this.

Schema Markup Errors - Priority or Not?
Greetings All... I've been digging through the search console on a few of my sites and I've been noticing quite a few structured data errors. Most of the errors are related to: hcard, hentry and hatom. Most of them are missing author & entry-title, while the other one is missing: fn. I recently saw an article on SEL about Google's focus on spammy mark-up. The sites I use are built and managed by vendors, so I would have to impress upon them the impact of these errors and have them prioritize, then fix them. My question is whether or not this should be prioritized? Should I have them correct these errors sooner than later or can I take a phased approach? I haven't noticed any loss in traffic or anything like that, I'm more focused on what negative impact a "phased approach" could have. Any thoughts?

I cannot find a way to implement to the 2 Link method as shown in this post: http://searchengineland.com/the-definitive-guide-to-google-authorship-markup-123218
Did Google stop offering the 2 link method of verification for Authorship? See this post below: http://searchengineland.com/the-definitive-guide-to-google-authorship-markup-123218 And see this: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/using-passive-link-building-to-build-links-with-no-budget In both articles the authors talk about how to set up Authorship snippets for posts on blogs where they have no bio page and no email verification just by linking directly from the content to their Google+ profile and then by linking the from the the Google+ profile page (in the Contributor to section) to the blog home page. But this does not work no matter how many ways I trie it. Did Google stop offering this method?

Schema Tags Configuration - Ecommerce Category Pages
I'm semi confident that some schema tags are implemented correctly on our ecommerce category pages.. but I would just like to double check. An example url http://www.freshcargo.co.uk/shoes I have just fixed some errors using the Google rich snippets tool... but the thing I'm not sure about is why the prices are being displayed as seperate items Eg: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freshcargo.co.uk%2Fshoes&view= Thanks in advance

Hotels Schema.org
I am looking at potentially using some Schema mark up on hotel listing pages. This is for an OTA where lots of hotels from all over the world are available for selection (think hotels.com, booking.com, agoda.com etc) For the itemscope itemtype on say the hotel name should I be defining it as http://schema.org/hotel or http://schema.org/localbusiness For example against the hotel name I would have: Grand Plaza Hanoi I assume its the former, but I was just after some 2nd opinions. Thanks, Ben
