Possible penalty question - need expert help
-
hallo everyone,
I am posting this question to the MOZ community, because I could not find any useful information or proper advice so far, even after consulting a few local SEO experts.
I noticed from the end of september a steady and consistent decrease in visits (please see attached pdf) for my website https://bastabollette.it
I lost so far almost 40%.
Please consider that I have not changed my habits in blog posting lately, both in quantity and quality. I have not made any subtantial change on the website lately.
I did a general audit of the site asking to an expert but apart from some generic suggestions (like: "work on increasing PR, add more quality backliks, use more no-follow links, fix broken links" - things I am currently going to fix anyway) I don't really understand the reason of the drop.
Please also note the strange drop of 11/22/15 (see search console screenshot).
Can you please help me?
thank you.

Acquisition > All Traffic > Source/Medium. Select Bing/Organic
-
Thank you Marie for your honest and complete answer.
One question: how can I check bing traffic in google analytics? I looked for it on google but (how funny) could not find the answer.
-
It's not uncommon to see weird blips like that in Google Search Analytics. I wouldn't get too worried about that unless the rankings stayed down and were legitimately down.
Do you see any manual action in Google Search Console --> Search Traffic --> Manual Actions? If not, then it's not a penalty.
This sounds like a question that would need quite a bit of investigation to answer, but here is where I would start:
In Google Analytics - Audience - Acquisition - All traffic and then click on Google/Organic as well as the other options. Is the drop across the board? Or just in Google traffic? If it's Google traffic only and other sources like bing traffic or direct visits are stable, then I'd be worried that you're being considered low quality by an algorithm change in Google. It could be Panda or the Quality (Phantom) update, but it would be hard to say without digging in deeply.
If the changes are across the board, then I'd be looking at things like a seasonal change. (It's not uncommon for sites to see a gradual decline going into the winter.) Or, perhaps a site issue such as a technical problem or a hosting problem or malware, etc.
It could also be that a competitor is outranking you. A drop from #1-#2 on some keywords can have a drastic effect.
From what you've written, it seems like a penalty is unlikely. But, unfortunately I don't have the answer for you.

Help w/ Google Event tracking w/ new Universal analytics.js
I want to implement Google event tracking after my visitors complete an estimate form. The form provides them an approximate range of costs based on their widget and widget amount. I have the php coding done, but I don't know JS and I need to send an event upon completion of the estimate form. However, all of Google's examples are button click events. How do I send the event upon completing a form if there is no separate landing page? If I have my Google analytics code on the page as well, would simply adding the following the completed estimate code work?

Has anyone had any success when requesting help from Bing?
For the past month I have been struggling to resolve a problem with an increasing number of 404 crawl errors in Bing. (Only Bing reports these error, not Google and not Moz.) I did receive email from them requesting a server log (which I have now sent 5 times.) Their response, please send a server log. The last email I sent (6/21) explained there should be server log attached, if they did not get it, not why not? Do they have a restriction on file size? What other compression types do they accept? It has been very frustrating to deal with them and all of their responses are between 9 PM and midnight. Almost a week later, no reply. Any suggestions how I can get out of this seemingly endless loop and get a helpful response during normal business hours (PDT)?

Setting up Webmaster Tools correctly - naked domain DNS error and sub-domains question
I'm trying to get our domain (verdantly.com) set up correctly in Google Webmaster Tools. Currently, I have three "sites" setup: blog.verdantly.com (wordpress.com blog redirected to this subdomain) www.verdantly.com verdantly.com The subdomain blog and www show up without errors. However, the naked domain shows a DNS error. I've checked the DNS settings at the registrar and don't see any issues. So here are my questions: 1. Am I correct in setting up the naked domain AND the subdomains separately in Webmaster tools? 2. How do I track down / resolve the source of the DNS errors at the naked domain? Thanks!

Expert Google Analytics: store with multiple languages and multiple sub-domians
I hope there's some hardcore Analytics shark out there, with a quick reply 🙂 I am setting up a store with multiple languages for a client and need to be able to track multiple sub-domains as a multiple languages in analytics. Example: dk.somedomain.com -> Danish language
Reporting & Analytics | | ReneReinholdt
www.somedomain.com -> English language
no.somedomain.com -> Norweigen language
.. and so on Now what the client would like is to have one single entity with multiple profiles in analytics, like this: somedomain.com
-> www.somedomain.com
-> dk.somedomain.com
-> no.somedomain.com
ex.. So if the client want's to see stats for the English language then he just vlivks the www profile and in case of danish he clicks the dk profile and so on.
problem here is I can't find an analytics help that addresses this specific issue. I have found this but that doesn't seem to cover it:. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. 🙂0 -
Google Product Feed help
Hello, We are working with a particular service that uses our Google product feed to pull information. We wanted to add product info such as dimensions and hex colors for each product to better service the third party we are using, but we not sure if this is something Google supports in their feed. Would it cause any problems if we added that info in? Thanks for any help! Also, my knowledge regarding a Google product feed is lacking so if the question is confusing or I didn't give enough info on our situation just let me know and I'll do what I can to better explain.

Do I need to turn off custom results or empty my cache before using the SEOMOZ Pro Rank checker?
I'm getting unusual swings in SERPS ranks from one day to another (I had several keywords ranked in top ten go to the the third or fourth page in a week). I knwo that there's always variation because of localized and custom search, but this seems to be something more.
