GA Internal Site Search Correct Query Parameter?
-
Hi Guys,
Recently added GA internal site search to a sub-folder: http://tinyurl.com/jhm9cyl
Just want to confirm would the query parameter be:
/search/
Or different because it's a sub-folder?
Cheers.

Hi Jay,
If I check the page you gave as an example using the Tag Assistant it states "No tags found"

Hi Dirks,
Thanks for that. The site/page is tagged with GA.

True. GA works if your links are http://www.example.com/?q=term or http://www.example.com/?s=search. Of course you can change q or s, but way as they work you can't. But you can "hack" this:
https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1012264All you need is to include on search page (and only on search pages) this code if you using analytics.js:
ga('send', 'pageview', '/search_results.php?q=keyword');
and that's all. -
Hi,
In the example you mentioned the query parameter would be q - as your syntax is domain.com/search?q=keyword - check here for more info: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1012264?hl=en#Params
(I imagine you gave the link as example as the site isn't tagged for Google Analytics)

Page Speed or Site Speed which one does Google considered a ranking signal
I've read many threads online which proves that website speed is a ranking factor. There's a friend whose website scores 44 (slow metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Despite that his website is slow, he outranks me on Google search results. It confuses me that I optimized my website for speed, but my competitor's slow site outperforms me. On Six9ja.com, I did amazing work by getting my target score which is 100 (fast metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Coming to my Google search console tool, they have shown that some of my pages have average scores, while some have slow scores. Google search console tool proves me wrong that none of my pages are fast. Then where did the fast metrics went? Could it be because I added three Adsense Javascript code to all my blog posts? If so, that means that Adsense code is slowing website speed performance despite having an async tag. I tested my blog post speed and I understand that my page speed reduced by 48 due to the 3 Adsense javascript codes added to it. I got 62 (Average metric score). Now, my site speed is=100, then my page speed=62 Does this mean that Google considers page speed rather than site speed as a ranking factor? Looking for a good GA plugin for Wordpress blog
We're looking to install a plugin for our Wordpress blog, to be able to receive analytical data right in our wordpress dashboard. Can anyone suggest a good one that is working well for them? We are looking for one that is either free, or fairly inexpensive. Google Analytics Dashboard for WordPress appears to be a front-runner for us, has anyone had any experience with this plugin? Thanks so much! Amiee

How to track click on phone number on mobile device in GA as a goal?
Hi, I work with a lot of physicians and one of the things I'd like to do is add a goal in GA so we can try to track how many visitors are clicking the phone # to call the office from smartphones. Would doing this be as straight-forward as adding a the standard javascript click text that I'd add for an external link? And Is there a way to make a goal only "count" if the user-agent is a smartphone? Because if I attach the JS to the phone #, it's going to be in all of the HTML regardless of which device is used. Unless of course, I mess with the CSS to only make the javascript code appear on certain stylesheets. Thank you!

What is the difference between "Organic Traffic" and the "Non-Paid Search Traffic" default segment in Google Analytics?
These two filtering options ("organic traffic" in the left sidebar and "non-paid search traffic" in the advanced segments) give me slightly different numbers. Any idea why this would be the case?

Ga event tracking and GAC code placement
Just relaunched website and since then specific event tracking has zeroed. I copied event tracking directly from old site so it should work. Overall analytics are fine. Only variable I can think of is where google analytics code is placed. Does GAC code need to be on HTML header or at end of body specifically for event tracking to work? Example: Steripen.com/freedom/... When user clicks "REI" icon, this tracks an event that a user clicked on one of our"retailer links." Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Site speed not being reported accurately?
We're constantly on the lookout for site speed, and Google's Webmaster tools are saying that we're really really slow (on the order of 5-15 seconds per page). But the site NEVER feels that slow, and lots of other tools say we're in the 3-5 second range. Further, we've implemented literally 100% of Google's suggestions, and all we have are ad units that now render using Googles Async ad loader, further reducing time to interactivity. Could Google be dinging us in search results for this? Here's an example page that they said loaded in 200+ seconds (!?!) http://hark.com/clips/kwkdqqtzsg-terran-nuclear-launch-detected Thanks!
