My Search Rankings Are In FreeFall Since Last One Month. Should I Be Worried?
-
My site www.midigital.co until the 10th of December, 2015 was ranking more or less in the top 10 for 92 Keywords most of them 1 word and 2 word, built upon over 10 years of SEO and optimization (all ethical).
Since that time however it's like Google's decided that we didn't belong there and all the rankings are in free fall. The only change was that we updated our Wordpress Version. Nothing else was changed. Links were same as always.
My organic traffic figures have fallen 99%, many KWs have been buried beyond 51+ and because of that client's queries we got have virtually disappeared. PPC helps but it's not Organic.
Should I be Worried or is it just more Google Dance?

Thanks Peter. Duplicate content was never an issue before this month. We're really stumped because most of the duplicate content even is years old. The content from last year is all new.
But as you mentioned it could be that Google Finally Woke up. The same content btw was responsible for our 92 very highly trafficked KWs. I'll have our SEO team look at it.
Sigh! hope it's just temporary. Thank you so much for taking time out for me. Really appreciate it.

Hi Chris,
Thank you so much for the detailed answer. Our KWs Radiation has been built around Digital Agency and Digital Marketing Services. So all in all KWs like Digital Media, Digital Media Agency, Digital Agency, Digital Agency USA, etc etc have been used as our core KWs, and then building up with KWs for services such as Web Design, Creative, etc. However It's been some time since we visited our Content Strategy, about time we gave the site the value it deserve.
For Thin Content, as mentioned the site is old. In those times, we didn't always have access to long form content and we never really do update the older content. I doubt anyone has value for a mobile article written in 2007 (one of them is) and we don't remove it because it's just part of our growth.
Content Spam: We were hit last year with a Spam Bot - one of those crazy BOTS that hacks websites and then creates massive links to the site. That's where those LV sunglasses variations came in but we since cleaned up the site and most of those link profiles have been disavowed in Webmaster. Unfortunately, we couldn't get rid of the incoming links entirely.
Thanks for your time, btw. Really appreciate it.

Hi Umair,
There are a few changes I'd suggest here if this was one of our clients. There is no real clarity around the most recent Google updates but there has been talk of onsite elements taking more of a focus either now or in the near future.
Either way, here are my suggestions from a quick glance of the site:
Keyword Focus - The page title for the home page is keyword-stuffed but the page itself doesn't seem to have a focus. The other pages lack a focus as well. Through the page titles, headings and content there doesn't appear to be any particular focus term(s)
Thin Content - Most landing pages seem to have ~100 - 400 words. We consistently see the best results from 1500+ words per landing page, though even boosting them to closer to 1000 words should see an improvement. Just make sure the content is legitimately valuable to the user, not just a sales pitch about your company.
**Site Speed **- GTmetrix gives a page speed score of E. Site speed is quite important these days
Excessive URLs - Some of the URLs are quite excessive. This appears to be done to fit keywords in but this can be done in a cleaner, more succinct way. For example, rather than _www.midigital.co/about-mi-digital-agency-marketing-services/, _either about-us or digital-agency would be perfectly acceptable and still on point.
Footer Links - The use of sitewide footer links on a few sites isn't ideal. The worst example having well over 30,000 links from the one domain
Blog or Comment Spam - Most of your anchor text profile is made up of variations of "louis vuitton sunglasses" terms. While I haven't dug down to confirm this, it does at least raise a red flag for me and search engines.
I hope that helps!

Yes - you should be worried.
Only known change was RankBrain on 26 Oct 2015:
https://moz.com/google-algorithm-changeSo you must check for Panda (probably). In Moz there are many articles how to escape it.
Now let's see your site structure:
http://www.midigital.co/?s=
http://www.midigital.co/partners-affiliates/?s=
http://www.midigital.co/digital-marketing-and-media-innovations-agency/www.meezanbank.com/ribaseazaadi/?s=
http://www.midigital.co/digital-marketing-and-media-innovations-agency/page/2/?s
http://www.midigital.co/digital-marketing-and-media-innovations-agency/page/3/?s
and this happen 981 times... RU index also search results?http://www.midigital.co/tag/anderson/
http://www.midigital.co/tag/consulting/
http://www.midigital.co/tag/data/
total - 1402 URLs with tags... RU index also tags?http://www.midigital.co/mi-digital-thinking-and-ideas-digital-happenings/page/8/
http://www.midigital.co/mi-digital-thinking-and-ideas-digital-happenings/page/7/
http://www.midigital.co/mi-digital-thinking-and-ideas-digital-happenings/page/5/
total - 214 URLs... RU index also pages? Also your host sabotage you:
http://midigital.co/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/HIp2-1030x704.jpg
http://www.midigital.co/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/HIp2-1030x704.jpg
total 346 images sitting on non-www version. But if you access HTML document - 301 redirect to www. RU your 301 redirect works? You also have 32 404 pages. Few domains that didn't work anymore -> http://www.pascrackit.com/ http://blog.mediastation.co.uk/ but you still keep links to them. Few minor problems -> mailto:mailto:careers@mediaidee.com + http://www.midigital.co/digital-marketing-and-media-innovations-agency/page/15/www.meezanbank.com/ribaseazaadi/ http://www.midigital.co/digital-marketing-and-media-innovations-agency/page/15/www.meezanbank.com/ribaseazaadi/?s=
As you can see you have colossal duplicated content. And you're with huge probability hit by Panda.

Indexing is live what about rankings ?
I noticed that when I request indexing in the webmaster tool my new content is live within minutes. Does it take longer to update the ranking or is the ranking updated as soon as the new page has been indexed. Thank you,

Wrong Pages Ranking
Good Afternoon We had an issue a while ago with the incorrect pages ranking in Google for some of our key terms. For example the page ranking for the term in Hotels in Spain was an individual information page for one particular hotel in Spain rather than the top level page which is optimised for "Hotels in Spain" The individual property page was ranking around 36-40 so we tightened up all the internal linking structure to ensure the term "Hotels in Spain" was pointing to the correct page and de-optimised the individual property page for the term. After a few weeks, everything seemed to be working and we were ranking top of second page for correct page however, ranking report today has reversed our good fortune and the incorrect page is ranking in a low position Any further suggestions or advise would be very much appreciated. Ideally, I don't want to remove the page that is ranking as it's still relevant for a search for that particular hotel

On-site Search - Revisited (again, *zZz*)
Howdy Moz fans! Okay so there's a mountain of information out there on the webernet about internal search results... but i'm finding some contradiction and a lot of pre-2014 stuff. Id like to hear some 2016 opinion and specifically around a couple of thoughts of my own, as well as some i've deduced from other sources. For clarity, I work on a large retail site with over 4 million products (product pages), and my predicament is thus - I want Google to be able to find and rank my product pages. Yes, I can link to a number of the best ones by creating well planned links via categorisation, silos, efficient menus etc (done), but can I utilise site search for this purpose? It was my understanding that Google bots don't/can't/won't use a search function... how could it? It's like expeciting it to find your members only area, it can't login! How can it find and index the millions of combinations of search results without typing in "XXXXL underpants" and all the other search combinations? Do I really need to robots.txt my search query parameter? How/why/when would googlebot generate that query parameter? Site Search is B.A.D - I read this everywhere I go, but is it really? I've read - "It eats up all your search quota", "search results have no content and are classed as spam", "results pages have no value" I want to find a positive SEO output to having a search function on my website, not just try and stifle Mr Googlebot. What I am trying to learn here is what the options are, and what are their outcomes? So far I have - _Robots.txt - _Remove the search pages from Google _No Index - _Allow the crawl but don't index the search pages. _No Follow - _I'm not sure this is even a valid idea, but I picked it up somewhere out there. _Just leave it alone - _Some of your search results might get ranked and bring traffic in. It appears that each and every option has it's positive and negative connotations. It'd be great to hear from this here community on their experiences in this practice.

Not ranking in Google - why???
This will be a bit long, so please bare with me. I have a client in the auto parts industry who wants to rank their homepage for 13 different keywords. We are ranked first page for all keywords in Yahoo! Mexico and Bing Mexico, but not ranking first page at all in Google Mexico. My client's competitor, however, is clearly outranking my client in Google. When comparing both pages, my client's, while not 100% optimized, looks better optimized than their competitor's. Looking at all metrics using Moz, SEMRush, ahrefs, etc... my client's site looks MUCH better on all fronts. I know ranking a single homepage for more than 10 keywords is a difficult task. Our competitor is however, ranking for them, so it's not impossible. The keywords are not even that competitive according to Moz's analysis. I decided to create an optimized page for each keyword to try to rank these pages, but still my client wants the homepage to rank (again, if the competitor is ranking, then it's possible to do this) and I am afraid these pages I created could result in keyword cannibalization ultimately affecting the homepage's possibility to rank. My client had a previous SEO agency working for them and basically all they did was create fake blogs and have lots of keyword rich links directed to the site's homepage. I got the complete link profile from several tools and submitted a disavow requests for as many fishy links I could find, but that hasn't shown any results so far. Note: when looking at the competitor link profile, they have basically just a few links and no external links of real value whatsoever. My client is obviously very frustrated, and so am I. In my SEO experience, it shouldn't be such a difficult task to accomplish, however nothing seems to work even though everything seems to point that my client should rank higher. So now I'm running out of ideas regarding what to do with this site. Any insight you could provide would be SO helpful to me and my client. If needed I can provide my client's homepage URL and also their competitors homepage for you to review. i can also give you any extra information you need. Thanks a lot!

Why Is This Page Not Ranking?
Hi Mozzers, I can't rank (the page is nowhere on the Google grid that I can find) and I've not been able to move the needle at all on it. The page is http://www.lumber2.com/Western-Saddle-Pads-s/98.htm for keyword "western saddle pads." I'm inclined to think I'm cannabalizing the category with the products so I removed the word saddle from the majority of the product names on page. However, saddle pad or saddle pads is in the meta title for most if not all of the products. Do you think I'm cannabalizing with the product titles or is there something else going on? Thanks for any help.
