Creating a Blog of Rodent Removal Companies?

I am helping a small company. Lets say rodent removal is their service.
But local SEO for rodent removal is very very competitive in my town and across America.
Would a website/blog dedicated to highlighting rodent removers across America be good for my company? We have had nice success with wordpress.com blogs.
Supposing I gave 6 other rodent removal companies a free guest post (always 300 words or more) or whatever to post on my blog.
Of course, none of these companies would be in my market.
Would that help my local SEO? I am thinking long term here?

Would it help your client? Probably not, but I think you might have a cool idea!
I have always been a big fan of creating community pages. If you can create a site for any group of people in which they can come to rely on you and your content, as well as feel like they can contribute, than it is a win/win for everyone. Make it more than just guest blogs though. Think about how you can generate interest through White Papers, webinars presented by leaders in the industry, even a YouTube channel in which your members can discuss the latest trends in rodent destruction. Think about it as if you are creating an SEOmoz for rodent eradicators. I think that there is something there. You can focus on helping them run their business more efficiently, marketing their business, etc. You will also be able to monetize it relatively easily with the inclusion of banner ads and content generated by companies that target exterminators.
There are similar websites (see Pestworld.org), but I have not seen a community site yet. Doesn’t mean it isn’t out there, I just did a cursory search.

Question about spammy links to 404 Pages we never created ...
FYI I'm a beginner within the company, so this might be a basic question, but ...I was going through open site explorer and checking www.partnermd.com for opportunities to reclaim links and I found a bunch of 404 pages that we never created that had nothing to do with the business. Out of curiousity, I plugged in one of the weird links like this one:http://www.partnermd.com/images/2015-best-space-heater-best-wers.html into open site explorer and found several bad spammy links pointing to it. When I clicked on one of them I got a notice that the site might have been hacked.I did some research and it looks like Google doesn't penalize you for spammy links to 404 pages, but how do we prevent this from occurring in the first place if possible?

Remove sitemap, effect ranking?
We are considering to remove our sitemap because it doesn't display the right structure. Will it affect current rankings if we remove the sitemap en continuing without a sitemap? Thanks

Recommended Web Hosting Companies
Some of you might have seen that I recently discovered that another was mirroring my website(petmedicalcenter.com). Found out that this domain (justinchina.co.uk) was previously hosted on Host Monster and when we upgraded to a dedicated IP this last year we got that same IP address. Unfortunately, the justinchina.co.uk domain from GoDaddy is still pointing to our server/IP. Thus the mirrored site. This has been a huge headache and a loss in rankings has made this even more frustrating. Small blog needs paid SEO help
I looked at Moz's recommended companies but they are all for huge blogs and websites. I cannot afford those fees. My blog is small but growing and was hit by a Google Panda tweak back in July. My organic traffic disappeared overnight and although I've been working hard to improve my blog, I still get no organic traffic after being on the first page. I would like to pay someone to look at my site and give me help but I cannot pay what these huge companies are asking for. Any advice?

Blog article URL - with or without date?
Quick question to all you folks: does including the date in a blog article's permalink affect rankings? For example, here's an article with the month and year, as well as the blog title: http://www.ayzanyc.com/blog/2012/12/difference-between-hot-chocolate-hot-cocoa/ Is it better to omit the date and just put the blog title? Also, if is better to avoid using the date, is it worth it to change the link structure of our previous articles (given that the URL will now be different), or should we just focus on future articles? Can I remove 301 redirects after some time?
Hello, We have an very large number of 301 redirects on our site and would like to find a way to remove some of them. Is there a time frame after which Google does not need a 301 any more? For example if A is 301 redirected to B, does Google know after a while not to serve A any more, and replaces any requests for A with B? How about any links that go to A? Or: Is the only option to have all links that pointed to A point to B and then the 301 can be removed after some time? Thank you for you you help!
