Robots txt. in page with 301 redirect

We currently have a a series of help pages that we would like to disallow from our robots txt.
The thing is that these help pages are located in our old website, which now has a 301 redirect to current site.
Which is the proper way to go around?
1- Add the pages we want to disallow to the robots.txt of the new website?
2- Break the redirect momentarily and add the pages to the robots.txt of the old one?

In that case, you'd need to add the robots meta tag at the page level before the tag.

Hey, for some time we will keep the files in the old domain. Should we break the redirect and insert the disallows to the robot.txt of the old site?

So, the problem is that the robots.txt file can't be accessed because of the 301 redirect to the new domain?
Do you plan to keep the help files on the old domain, or will they be removed completely?

Thanks for your reply. I don't want to disallow the URLs these pages are being redirected to. Actually these URLs are in the old version but still can be accessed. So to put it simply, this is my case:
1- This was our current website: www.kilgray.com (With a 301 redirect)
2- This is our new website: www.memoq.com
3- I would like to disallow the following links on the old website that are still visible (haven't been redirected):
http://kilgray.com/memoq/2015-100/help-en/index.html
http://kilgray.com/memoq/2014/help-en/

Do you want to disallow the URLs that these pages are being redirected to? If not, there's no need to add anything to the robots.txt file.
If you do want to disallow the URLs that these pages are being redirected to, use relative URLs in your robots.txt file. For example, let's say olddomain.com/old-help-page/ is being redirected to newdomain.com/new-help-page/. If that's the case, add the following to your robots.txt file.
Disallow: /new-help-page/
There's no need to disallow the specific URLs that are being redirected to something else. Are you trying to get them removed from Google's index or something? If so, Google will update their index eventually based on your 301 redirects.

How effective are 301 redirects in passing page rank?
I have a blog which is ranking well for certain terms, and would like to repurpose it to better explain these terms it is ranking for, including updating the url to the new term the blog will be about. The plan being to 301 redirect the old url to new. In the past, I've done this with other pages, and have actually lost much of the rankings that I had earned on the original URL. What is your take on this? Maybe repurpose blog, but maintain original URL just to be on the safe side? Thanks

301 redirects delay in picking up
Hi I have been involved in the redesign/development of a website which has up until now had a lot of international traffic. On day of migration I uploaded all the 301 redirects to the website (wordpress) using Simple 301 redirect plugin. I tested a number of them and they appeared to be working. I also submitted the new sitemaps to Search Console. Since migration international traffic - particularly from countries such as india, Phillipines, Sri Lanka etc have significantly dropped off whereas the local traffic and some of the international traffic such as USA has remained fairly consistent. Looking at Analytics and entrances recently it appears as though search results are/were showing a number of pages with 404's (one in particular which received significant traffic and for which I had created a 301 redirection) - I have checked this page using the old url and it re-directs correctly for me and today asked a colleague in India to also check - he is getting the redirection fine. Does Google.in take a significantly longer time to pick these up in search results? Or am I missing something?

How do I redirect the Author archive page in Wordpress?
If you do a search for my name on Google, the first result is the author archive page of my Wordpress blog. I would like to redirect the author page to my "about me" page but cannot add a 301 as the author page is created dynamically in Wordpress. Anyone know how I can do this?

301 redirect from Blogger
Hello, I have a client with a Wordpress network of blogs, each blog is owned by a different blogger. Many of them were migrated time ago from Blogger. I have seen that the way used to redirect them is a meta refresh, so no authority is being passed. I cannot find any reliable way of making a 301 from Blogger, There are some plugins, but I'm afraid of using them. Any of you have experience with this situation please? I have even thought about placing a global rel canonical before the meta refresh, but I think that here the problem is the meta refresh itself.... Thank you in advance

We have set up 301 redirects for pages from an old domain, but they aren't working and we are having duplicate content problems - Can you help?
We have several old domains. One is http://www.ccisound.com - Our "real" site is http://www.ccisolutions.com The 301 redirect from the old domain to the new domain works. However, the 301-redirects for interior pages, like: http://www.ccisolund.com/StoreFront/category/cd-duplicators do not work. This URL should redirect to http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/category/cd-duplicators but as you can see it does not. Our IT director supplied me with this code from the HT Access file in hopes that someone can help point us in the right direction and suggest how we might fix the problem: RewriteCond%{HTTP_HOST} ccisound.com$ [NC] RewriteRule^(.*)$ http://www.ccisolutions.com/$1 [R=301,L] Any ideas on why the 301 redirect isn't happening? 301 Redirect with an Exact Domain name Match
My Client had a site that ranked for a pretty competitive two word phrase, but for a variety of reasons had to transfer the site to a different domain name (with none of the previous keywords). We've 301'd everything just fine to the new site, but our traffic for that two word phrase, as well as related long tail traffic, is beginning to drop. Could the drop be related to something that we didn't do well in the transfer? Or is it due to the new domain name now not being an exact match? Sitenote question: Our Google Analytics is still set up for the former domain name and shows data just fine. Is there any reason to switch GA to the new domain? What are the pros/cons? 200 Redirects for SEO instead of 301
We are working with a company on re-platforming our website. On a call yesterday they outlined a strategy to use 200 redirects for our top keywords instead of 301s. I am not familiar with this type of redirect and was wondering if anyone could provide some more insight.
