Copy of domain to serve different continent

Danny is right. You can't geolocate a site to a continent. Goelocation assumes you're targeting a country or language.
I wouldn't bother with a site.asia domain either if all you're worried about is latency. Instead, what I would do is work on geolocating your site. For instance, Amazon offers geolocation in their Route 53 product (country or latency). So you could host your site in the US and a copy in one of their Asian datacenters. This way, your visitors (and robots) will always go to site.com, but be served the fastest instance of your site. This avoids the duplicate content problem entirely. There are some other services and hosting out there that could probably help you do this as well.

No, Not you wouldn't list all countries.
First, Google has its country specific versions, such as Google.co.uk for the UK and Google.ca for Canada. Each of these deliver search results that are more appropriate for users from the relevant country. That doesn't mean that you will only rank on one, but ranking internationally is much more difficult. There is no google.asia so you cant rank well for the whole of Asia unless you are an international super company. You can only rank well for individual countries in asia.
Users in the UK can rank on google.com (us) if the content is internationally recognised, but this is easier said than done.
Your site (siteground.com)
Notice, it offers google alternatives for language and country. It does not rank for en_ASIA or en_EUROPE.
in the same way you would have .co.uk and .es even though they are in the same continent , you would need to create language and country targeted sites in order to use an alternative rel tag for Google to understand it is not duplicate content.
-
So what, list all countries in Asia as rel alternate tags + english language? that sounds terrible.
-
As i said, if you want to avoid duplicate content you can only do so for countries + languages, not continents.

I want to serve the same content to different continent. Serving asian customers from USA data center is just slow and it takes a lot of time for them to load the site. On the other hand, we have an asian datacenter so I want to handle the entire continent from that datacenter. At this point, we cannot use the same domain (.com). So I wanted to clone the main site and redirect all asian traffic to it. Just wondering how to do this...
-
At the moment, you cannot use any tags to geo target continents, only countries. There is no way around this, unless you are serving the website to a particular country or in a different language. This will result in one website being dropped from the index and not being served at all. There isn't any need to serve the .asia site from a different data centre either.
To avoid the duplicate content, you have to serve one of the following
- Same content in a different language
- Same content in a different country
- Different content
You can justify the duplicate content to google using webmaster tools & language/country tags.

Domain Authority
Hi Our website Domain Authority isn't as high and was wondering why it's not increasing. Compared to 1 or 2 competitors we're not scoring as high as them. Are rankings are good for all chosen keywords. Just trying to get a better handle where our site is falling short on.

Ranking Above sub-domains
So I work for a company that has a very successful affiliate that operates under a third level domain name such as "region.company.com". Their SEO practices are very good and they rank highly in keyword searches. However "company.com" does not even though it is not a subdomain. Even after optimizing the company.com's pages etc, the regional sub domain ranks much higher for keywords and the main company fails to rank at all. Is Google discounting the main company's page? Is it a matter of trust or time? or is it something else? How can I get Google to prioritize the main company website rather than a lower level domain affiliate?

Sub-domain or not???
Hi, We're setting up a forum for our users (our target audience responds extremely well to forums). I was wondering if it should be set up on a sub-domain or not. I'm leaning towards sub-domain, but our devs say this will impact how they approach it so I'd like to give them an answer asap so we can proceed with planning it! Thanks, Amelia

Renaming your domain from an existing live domain and SEO implications - Please Help *shudder*
Please see the details below. Site A: http://south-african-holiday.mobi is an existing site that is our best site. It is Joomla 3.1 and runs all our ecommerce. Site B: http//www.southerncircle.com/ is our original and has the best DA but is out of date and pretty clunky. joomla 1.5 and all bookings (tour site) are redirected to Site A for processing. Instead of redesigning the Site A I'd like to change the domain name of http://south-african-holiday.mobi -> http://southerncircle.com So far my reading and research (Thanks MOZ for awesome forum!) has provided me with: 1. Do the SEO groundwork. i.e. remove dead links from both sites. Delete useless content and generally tidy up both sites. 2. Map all pages from site a: http://southerncircle.com -> http://south-africa-holiday/ so that the existing pages that have good ranking will have a home on the new site. 3. When ready do a small sample 301 redirect from: http://southerncircle.com to http://south-africa-holiday.mobi. 4. arghhhh now I'm stuck ..... If I redirect to this site then I lose my http://southerncircle.com domain which is what I want to keep....I just want the .mobi site to move to the southerncircle.com site.... I don't consider myself totally thick but this is really confuseing the *$%# out of me PLEASE could you give me some insight here. I'm sure it has been done before without completely losing the sites seo ranking and sending my site into SEO oblivion. If there are any JOOMLA gurus that have done this I'd love to hear from you as well. Many thanks in advance.

Moving categories to new domain
Hello Mozzers , I'm trying to find best possible solution for this situation. So there is a website (e-commerce) and since it's grew up too much we are looking to move several categories on different domain. The reason for this is that we introduce completely different product group (example: we have products that are related to watches and everything related to watch industry but now we introduce leather products: wallets, bags etc). Do you think it is worth it to move new categories to new domain in order to better target this product group? In case of positive answer which is the best way to do it - 301 redirect or leave the products on this site and build a new site with slightly different product description and names? Regards, Nenad

Which domain should I use?
I own a couple domains that are specific to a product and would like to know which one folks on here recommend. Primary Google Search Term Example: "Tax Bond" Example Domain 1: www.taxbonds.net Example Domain 2: www.tax-bond.net I've done research on here before and have come to the conclusion that hyphenated domains aren't bad (no more than 2 hyphens though). So, do I go for the EXACT search term with the hyphen or do I go for the pluralized search term without the hyphen, even though most people will not add the "s" in the Google search? Thanks, Alex

Redirect on exact match domain to Brand domain question :)
Hi, If I have a website with the domain crazysocks.co.uk and a title tag 'black socks' would I see any benefit redirecting blacksocks.co.uk to crazysocks.co.uk, to give my keyword 'black socks' a boost in the SE's from the EMD. I see it loads where an EMD is indexed for its term but when you click the result it redirects to a branded domain. I personally cant see this being true but wanted to double check.

Renaming primary domain advice
Hi, We have a site www.anteater.com.au. It's a pest control company here in Sydney Australia. Now I've just renamed it to www.anteaterpestcontrolsydney.com.au yesterday for SEO purposes. I'm doing 301 redirects. My question is, is it worth it to do this? Will we have any advantage in the long run with just this URL change? Or would it be better to just leave it as is as www.anteater.com.au Any comments would be appreciated. Cheers.
