What value does a short term link have?
-
Hi everyone,
If a high DA site (93) (such as a reputable newspaper site) adds a link to your site, but for a short 2 week period (running over the course of a product promotion period), does this have any real positive SEO advantage? (I have a DA OF 53)
From a brand building perspective, it has obvious benefits, but I can't work out how much it will contribute to our SEO,
Can anyone help answer this for me?
Thanks
Pat

It is my personal experience with link building that links now take a couple of months before they help you with rankings. Back in the days we used to see instant movement, now it seems that Google wants to see the link is sticking before assigning credit to it. Probably done to deter spammers and give website owners a chance to remove the spam links and also to deter or frustrate link builders in general.
Hopefully the link brings you some traffic or brand awareness, don't expect it to really help in your rankings though.

If I'm not mistaken, it will only have SEO value for the two weeks it's there. Google isn't going to remember you had that link and pass on value indefinitely.

Link Exchange
Is link exchange always bad? What if I want to add a link for other related products on my site which I do not offer, and the other site does the same for me? Will it be better to rather an article for each other product and link to somebody, than have one page with a list of other products to other sites. For example. We do training. Lets say we offer computer training. We search companies that does health and safety training offer to put their course on our site with a link to them, if they do the same.

Back link from site with DA of 72 to a website domain. Clicking on the link redirects to our website not the attended one.
Hi,
Link Building | | JIMBO16
I've ran a back link check and discovered a good back link to a site which then gets redirected back to my company's website. I have a feeling that an old SEO agency has purchased a small website which has a decent link back from a relevant organisation with a high Domain authority and then redirects the domain to our website to get the link juice. What are your thought on this? Is this really bad practise and possibly damaging? Thanks, Jim0 -
How valid are these types of links?
Hi Mozzers, I am wondering how valid are those links <a href="http: www.domainlinking.com="" wp-content="" themes="" websitename="" directory-click-thru.php?id="51956&thru=www.domainlinked.com"">ANCHOR . Not sure what are those? are these for tracking purposes?</a href="http:> This link acts as a click though and displays the domain linked but I am not sure if these links passes as much juice as a link following this format <a href="http: www.domainlinked.com"="">ANCHOR ? Are these should be worth pursuing or am I wasting my time with those?</a href="http:> Thanks for letting me know!

Link Pharming
My company has been using an SEO company for a while and have built up our pagerank to a 6. However, we have noticed that they're involved in link pharming - they're buildng extra websites and linking to our site on them. We are not happy with this as we know it will only be a matter of time before Penguin hits us. The contract with the SEO company is coming up for renewal soon and we're thinking of cancelling it. However, we are not sure if the company will delete all our backlinks, which will probably decrease our PageRank too. Has anyone here ever had a similar experience? What did the SEO company do when you cancelled the contract? Does anyone here work for an SEO company and what do you do when someone cancels your service?

Article Links
I write and publish artcles. Typically I publish them on a few top article sites like EZineArticles. The articles then get picked up by other sites, often numbering in the hundreds. All of the articles are published with a link back to our website using a keyword. Are there any SEO risks in this type of link proliferation?
