New Design on New Ranking Charts
-
I logged in today to find the ranking chart on a specific keyword changed dramatically. It used to pop up first thing when you went to analyze a keyword and now it's hidden under a pulldown. Which is fine, I will get used to all the new changes. It only took me a few minutes to find it (ha). Is there a writeup on what was reorganized anywhere? I could not see it on the blog (other than the Keyword Difficulty changes but that doesn't say anything about this) or in the Hub.
The way it was laid out before was extremely compact. It showed the keyword at the top with the current weekly ranking. Then listed the chart below with the competitors. You could easily get it on a snapshot for management.
Now, when you are viewing the chart, you don't know what keyword you are looking at when viewing it on the screen (you have to scroll up - or have a really large monitor) and you have to hover to see what position it's at.
If you look at the two attached images, it used to be more compact. I'm not including where the competitors are listed for privacy reasons but on the old version it made very easily digestible screencaps.
Now, I know, I know, it's all there... Yet every Monday I do a snapshot of the top 10 keywords we look at and send it in an Excel file (with VARIOUS other things) and the big boss looks at it every single week. Since he's the one paying and I'm about to hear a complaint shortly, I thought I would send feedback...
(I'm trying to check boxes... is Moz Pro called Moz Analytics now? When I look at my campaign, it says Moz Pro... doesn't say anything about Moz Analytics. I feel super old right now! Sorry!

Hello! Thanks for the feedback!
The overall goals of the redesign of this page were:
- support configurable date ranges (you can now see our entire keyword history instead of a fixed 12-week / 12-month chart)
- make your keyword ranking data clearer with a couple of new charts (the old chart was confusing if you had multiple pages rankings for a KW, and didn't work with configurable date ranges). We have added the Search Visibility to chart to show the overall impact of all of your rankings pages on your keyword performance. We also added the Highest Ranking Position chart as a simplified version of your Keyword Performance.
- provide some room and scale for some new things we have coming soon (SERP Features, more KW metrics)
- move to the latest version of KW difficulty
- move the page onto our new, faster, more reliable KW rankings platform (this is more of an internal Moz goal, but I thought I would include it on this list. Plus you will see the benefits through faster pages and more reliable / timely rankings data)
I hear what you are saying - let me address your concerns in turn:
- extra whitespace on the page - I agree this looks a little strange right now, and sorry it stopped all the data you care about fitting on the screen (though if you use Chrome, the page scales really well with Ctrl +/-, I sometimes use that to fit more in a screenshot). We have left a little extra space for some new things we have coming up, so that is why it feels a little weird now. Sorry about this in the meantime!
- a writeup on the changes - no there is not, but this is a great idea, and I am going to turn this response into a post and publish it - thank you for prompting that
- Moz Analytics vs Moz Pro - Moz Pro is the name of the overall subscription product, we heard some customers were confused by the internal tool names so we are trying to simplify things a little by stopping using some names
Hope this helps! I am on jon@moz.com if you wanted to chat over email - happy to help in any way I can!

Could you also pass along that when you type in a keyword to analyze, it no longer lets you hit 'enter' to go directly to the page. It keeps the keyword list up and forces you to scroll to find the keyword (AND they are not in alphabetical order!), and then forces you to hit the search button to load it.
Hitting enter was, obviously, much easier.
And while I'm thinking about it, I'm sweating when the Retiring Keywords Ranking file will disappear in July. Is there ANY way to keep that file? Or is there an easy way to strip off all the other keywords?
Currently I take the list and export it to my own excel file where we can see the history going back a few years. It takes me 5 minutes to do that. And then another 10m to change each keyword to red and green for my boss. We could obviously use the online system but we are comparing rankings from over a year ago and excel is easier to manage, it also delivers itself directly to my boss's computer and he likes to print stuff out.
The New Ranking file (for me) is a 3,000+ row document where the Old Ranking file was just the simple list of the 250+ keywords we are tracking.
Help me figure out what to do please? I've been ignoring the fact the Retiring Ranking File is going away shortly.

Hi there! Thanks for the feedback. I'll be sure to pass this along to the product team to let them know you prefer a more compact UI for the Analyze a Keyword page. It's true, as you said, that your keyword and rank are both present on the page, but not as close to the chart as before.

Can Moz add an alert to email us when a competitor's site gets a new backlink?
This would be a very useful feature, and other sites are doing this, including Ahrefs.

Will the Pro tool be updated to reflect the new meta description length?
Hi, I'm wondering if and when the tool will be updated for the above purpose - I'm currently testing it out with a view to purchase a subscription and have onboarded a couple of clients, but the reports are coming back with meta description length errors, but as I'm sure you know the "legal" length of these was recently increased to I believe 320 characters. Any insight here would be awesome - thanks so much!

Global Keyword Rank Research? What is the best method to do this?
I am looking for a tool that will show my how my competitors rank for keywords across regions. Can MOZ help with this? I know right now I can add their website and export a list of terms they rank for, but it would really help me to see how that number fluctuates and changes across the globe. Any solutions?

What is the best way to display historical ranking data?
I have utilized MOZ for years but have always struggled with a nice graph that illustrates historical ranking data for all tracked keywords. Can someone help me find the best solution for this in MOZ?

Is it possible to view keyword rankings over the past 13 months?
The keyword rankings bar graph is a great visual representation to provide clients, but most clients like to see the past 13 months (vs. 12 months) so they can compare the current month to last year. It'd be great if the latest [monthly] keyword rankings showed all the way back to the same month last year (Ex. If I was looking at the keyword rankings for December 2015, all the way back to December 2014 would be graphed out.)

Idea for the new on-page tool in Pro
Hello, I just ran about something, which looks like a minor change (at least to me, but i totaly get, that what looks like a minor change to the outsider might in fact be a big deal from the developers view) but could easily enhance productivity with the new onpage-tool. In the overview of tracked on-page reports, I think it would be a great idea, to show the number of unsolved suggestions next to the score. Additionally, I'd love to flag some unsolved suggestions on a single page as "ignored". Why should I ignore a suggestion? For example I'm working for a customer, who is using a pretty old e-Commerce System. Therefore there is no possibilty to easiely add canonical tags. Also on some pages, it is not feasible to get below the 100 links per page threshold. On Pages, that list all products of a certain brand, I naturally get the "avoid spamming" suggestion regarding the brand-name Some Pages adress Keywords with german Letters like ÄÜÖß, which cannot be found in the page URL (while Google does get that "über" and "ueber" are the same thing). So there are cases where I can't - or simply don't want - to solve the suggestion. Now it happens almost every week to me, that I see keyword ranking, lets say, at 7 with a score of something like 87. The usual instinct is to click the report to look for the last tweaks. Often then I realise, I checked this report few weeks ago and can't or won't do anything regarding the remaining suggestions. If it would have something like "3 unresolved suggestions (+ 2 ignored)" standing next to each score in the reports overview, it would be my personal usability dream come true - since the number of open suggestions is more important to me then the score. To make it even more aweseome, add a simple filter: "Only show Reports with not-ignored unresolved suggestions". Whoohooo, that would make you one happy customer! Maybe that is something, many people would enjoy to see in an update. Cheers, Christian P.S. sorry for my bad englisch - hopefully you got the idea. unbenannt-3.jpg.html

What tool will check my keyword rank alongside search volume for that keyword?
Hello Moz Community, I'm wondering if there is a tool (or a function with Moz Pro) that will check my keyword rank alongside search volume for that keyword. I'm able to see my keyword rankings in Moz Pro, but can't see search volume for those keywords. I'd love to prioritize which lower-ranking keywords should be improved based on their search volume. Any ideas? Thanks! Robert
