How to implement Featured Snippets
-
Hi ,
I want to achieve Featured Snippets for my client (http://www.theoriginalflame.com). Could you anyone help me on this ?
-
I'm glad those resources helped!
There are lots of things you can do. You can frequent forums or Facebook groups to see what your target audience are talking about. Start discussions on Twitter or other social platforms. You could also put some content live and see if it resonates.
I would recommend starting with this Whiteboard Friday on knowing your audience
https://moz.com/blog/know-what-your-audience-wants-before-creating-content-whiteboard-friday
And this one on more data driven audience analysis
https://moz.com/blog/discovering-which-sites-your-target-audience-visits-whiteboard-friday
Let me know how you get on
Cheers!

Thank you Jo.
I have added some question-based keywords in the campaign as suggested in the above blogs. Could you tell me how can one assess who is asking these questions?
-
Hi there!
The basic process involves:
- Researching and gathering questions that have featured snippets
- Assessing who is asking these questions
- Analyse your content and update it to clearly help people asking these questions
- Work on your on-page optimization and overall site authority to get within striking distance of Featured Snippets
I can definitely recommend reading up on the resources we have on this topic.
Dr Pete has written a great guide here:
https://moz.com/blog/featured-snippets-from-start-to-finish
https://moz.com/blog/ranking-zero-seo-for-answers
Ronell has written about how to win snippets here
https://moz.com/blog/featured-snippets-a-deadsimple-tactic-for-making-them-stick
We also have a guide to tracking SERP Features with Moz Pro here:
https://moz.com/help/guides/moz-pro-overview/rankings/serp-features
I hope this helps, if there is anything else I can help you with please do let me know
Cheers!
Jo

Optimization for "Search by Photos" feature
Howdy, fellow mozzers, Does anyone know what affects a given company photos show up in the "Search by Photos" section? I can't find any decent info.. Here is the link to SEL, describing the feature (not even google themselves seem to have an announcement about it). https://searchengineland.com/google-showing-mobile-search-by-photos-option-in-selected-local-verticals-323237 Thanks in advance!

Why do sites w/o structured data beat me for rich snippets?
I can't figure this out. For a number of search terms that I compete for, there are competitors that rank below me, but their pages are featured in a rich snippet. I wanted to see what kind of structured data these sites are providing, thinking maybe there's something I can learn. But when I run these URLs through Google's Structured Data Testing Tool, it tells me these pages contain no structured data! So how is it that Google think's my page is more relevant (I rank higher) and I have structured data, but Google chooses to feature a different page? Does anyone have ideas on how I can snag these rich snippets for myself?

Google News - How to be featured in different countries with same domain
Hello, I am sure I am not the first to go through this but I did not find the answers in the previous Q&As. So, sorry if this question is bit redundant for some folks. We have a site in English with readers in multiple english speaking countries. How to make www.mysite.com accepted in Google news for US, UK, India, Australia and Canada at the same time? It is currently accepted in the US but, as I stated above, we do have a strong audience in other countries. I have read about sub-domains, but wouldn't it be considered duplicated content if I had the exact same article in different sub-domains? We are talking about creating 4 copies on mysite.com just to be added to Google News in those specific countries www.mysite.com/same-article/

Google Not Displaying Rich Snippets
We implemented rich snippets for products some time ago. When viewing our site through a site:xxxx.com on Google, they don't show for every product, despite the fact that they should. I've taken some of the URLs that don't show rich snippets in the SERPs, ran them through Google's testing tool, and they display fine. Not sure what's going wrong here. Any thoughts?

Multiple Author Rich Snippets On A Q&A Forum Page
Hi, I work on a site that has a robust q&a forum. Members post questions and other members answer the questions. The answers can be lengthy, often by experts with Google+ pages and almost always by multiple member/commenters answering a particular question. Much like Moz's forum here. In order to get rich snippets results in search for a single Q&A page, what would happen if each of, for instance, 10 commenters on a page, were tagged as author? After all, the q/a forum pages have many authors, each as author of their own comments. Or, should I pick one comment out of many and call that member/commenter the author or something else? If it matters, the person asking the question in the forum is almost always not the expert providing a ton of detailed content. Also, a question might be 8 words. One answer might be 25 to 500 or more and their might be 5 to 10 different answers. Thanks! Cheers... Darcy

Should I run 302 first before implementing 301?
I just want to ask if it is necessary to run 302 redirections first before redirecting old to new URLs permanently. I heard that we should run temporary redirects first so we can check after and to avoid passing the link juice but I want to hear thoughts from experts. Do i need to test 302s for old pages that are still live or should we redirect old URLs once these pages already removed from the site?

Why Are Rich Snippet Stars Red On Google?
I'm using RDFa rich snippets markup on my site and on Google's Structured Data Testing Tool the 5 stars come up in yellow in my listing. On the web today I checked on indexing progress and the stars are 'red' in the listings - any idea why this might be? Is Google switching them over universally or is it something else?

Experiences with event rich snippets?
We've recently (in the past 6 months) implemented rich snippets into one of our websites, which lists events around the USA. We've run our code through Google's testing tools and all looks good. When we search for terms which we compete for, many of our competitors display the event sub-links in the SERPs but we still do not. Does anyone have any experience with rich snippets with regards to whether site reputation or (we're a new website) others factors will impact if/when google will display our rich snippets in search results? Thanks!
