      Hello, Moz's

I'm thinking about added scheme markup to show my google reviews. I have a 4.8 rating and 25 reviews.

I'm thinking about added scheme markup to show my google reviews. I have a 4.8 rating and 25 reviews.

My first question is: when people see that and then visit my site, would it be good to have the Google reviews on the home page?

My second questions is: Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to add this to my site? None of my competition has done this, so I'm a little apprehensive?

      Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi BlueCorona, How you doin? I would like to ask you a question, I am wondering if I can integrate my google ratings to my homepage using schema scripts. That being said, my plan is to include the numerical ratings through AggregateRating and hopefully be displayed on Google's SERP when someone searches for my website.

Since you mentioned that we can feature the said overall ratings. What would that link be? Should the link be visible on the Homepage itself? Example: "See all reviews" (This will be the anchor text pointing to our google profile placed somewhere in our homepage). *** OR *** Should the link be included on the schema script only. Let's say it will be included on the RelatedLink or SameAs property.

Looking forward for your insights. Thank you and have a nice day!

What Miriam_ Is saying is 100% correct. Thank you for updating me, Miriam!_

I would recommend utilizing a system of getting your own testimonials/reviews reputation stacker is a great one so is white spark I have provided some URLs below you are paid services that allow you to cultivate your own unique testimonials which you can then use schema on however like it is stated below and Marion said you cannot use schema on reviews that are from websites other and yours. Meaning they had to show up there first.

          • https://reputationstacker.com/ (great tool)
          • https://whitespark.ca/review-handout-generator/
          • https://whitespark.ca/google-review-link-generator/

"The big change here is that when you include third-party syndicated reviews that are not “directly produced by your site,” you should not mark up those reviews with schema. Only “directly produced by your site, not reviews from third-party sites or syndicated reviews” should be marked up, according to these guidelines".

          All the best,

          Tom

If you do decide to add schematic markup to your website for reviews, ensure you are following the guidelines. These were recently updated and you want ep avoid being penalized for featuring third party reviews incorrectly on your website.

Instead of featuring the reviews themselves, you could features your overall google rating. But if you do this, we recommend making sure you include a link to your Google profile to verify that the rating is correct.

Let me know if you have any questions about implementing the schem correctly!

              Hi There!

No, this would not be a recommended practice to markup your third-party reviews with Scheme. Google recently updated their guidelines specifically regarding this. For more on this, see: http://searchengineland.com/google-updates-local-reviews-schema-guidelines-257745

Ok, that looks complicated, but thank you so much!!

I'll try and figure it all out, although I have a company doing it for me, I still like to know what they're doing.

The only reason I can think of why you would not want to is if you're in some sort of industry where it is not relevant but those are hard to think of. As far as putting schema on your reviews I strongly recommend it below are two generators of micro data and one of JSON-LD schema use one you like.

                  • another generator for basic schema https://hallanalysis.com/json-ld-generator/
                  • and if you use WordPress https://wordpress.org/plugins/schema-app-structured-data-for-schemaorg/

** This is a great article on how to get the stars where your or .8 to show up underneath the snippet the Google SERPS**

here is an example of code you could use

What do the symbols in the profile avatars in Google listing reviews mean?

A client of mine noticed that some of their customers that leave GMB listing reviews have special symbols in their profile avatars (please look at the attachment).   Is this a sign of a influencer? Has anybody else noticed this? r6mhX

                    Paying for Reviews Penalty?

Hello,  recently came across a company that has been paying people directly for reviews. I of course do not recommend this and realized the ethical implications and even the lawsuits that can come from this, but does Google have a manual penalty for fake reviews or do they just algorithmically discount ones that raise red flags? I have never really had to worry about this in the past.  I know you can flag fake reviews to them on an individual basis, but does anyone have history of knowing specific situations where a company was manually punished for doing this?  Just curious and I kind of wanted to give them strong documentation to knock it off.  Thanks in advance.

Do people receive notifications when you respond to their Google reviews?

If someone leaves a review of your business on your Google My Business listing, and you respond to that review, will they receive an email notification of your response to their review? We are working with a client who has unanswered reviews from several years ago, and though it's best practice to respond to all reviews, we didn't want to respond to reviews from 2013 if the person (who has likely forgot about their experience with the business in question) is going to get an email notifying them of our late response to their review. Thank you!

How does decimal rounding of reviews to stars work in ios appstore? Starting from which average review score to get full 5 star rating?

How does decimal rounding of reviews  to stars work in ios appstore?
Starting from which average review score to get full 5 star rating? Duolingo has a 5 star rating, but I doubt that they really have an all time  review average larger than 4,75. In the google playstore their average of the android version is 4,6. Does anybody know how apple calculates the star ratings or has an URL reference where this is explained?

Why does Google return 1 star reviews in local listings as the "most helpful"?

I have a client who has recently received two 1 star reviews on Google local (unhappy customer and unhappy customers boyfriend). This is affecting an otherwise flourishing business as these two 1 star reviews are displayed prominently when you search for the brand in Google. They have since received more positive reviews, however Google insists on displaying, what they term, the "most helpful" reviews first. Why are these 1 star reviews deemed "most helpful"? In all honesty, they aren't even really that helpful, with the latter verging on slanderous. We are in the process of reporting this one as it personally attacks a member of staff, however, whilst we tentatively wait weeks for a response, I wondered if anyone has any idea on how G decides which reviews are "most helpful"? When there is no option for other users to rate these reviews as helpful (such as on play store).

Moving my photography business to another state. Is it possible to transfer Google My Business listing WITHOUT losing my Google Reviews?

A friend of mine is transitioning her photography business to another state.  She moved about 5 years ago and consequently lost all of her Google+/Yelp reviews.  Having reviews as a photographer is EXTREMELY important for her business reputation.  She doesn't want this to happen again. Is it possible to change the location of a Google my Business page and keep the existing reviews? Thanks

Is there a better way to wrap schema on a testimonial page? Example website shown

Hi, Hopefully someone can help my dilemma! I am trying to wrap review schema (schema.org/review). However, it's stumping me because of our WordPress theme "Flawless." If any are familiar with this particular theme you'll know that there is the normal visual/text portion of the page-editing portion of WordPress, but there is also a page-building section which is unique to Flawless. In this instance, a Testimonial "Content/Post Type Item" has been used. This was where the page was constructed and wherein the problem lies. If I wrap schema around it like I normally would, the page distorts on the front end and becomes a garbled mess. I've been trying to solve the problem and the closest I've gotten has been to copy the source-code of the Flawless themed Testimonial Content/Post Type Item into the "Text" portion of Wordpress to replicate the Flawless page-builder. I thought "yay! I can wrap schema around this for sure!" but I'm still encountering some problems. If I'm using the structured data markup helper from Google, and copying and pasting the HTML I'd like (with the corresponding schema "header") I get an error on the Structured Data Testing Tool saying "Incomplete schema data." I've tried looking for plugins that would help me, but all that I've seen adds duplicate content to the page. If there's a way to wrap review schema on this page—it would make my day! Thanks for the help!

                    EKomi widget and Schema.org

Hi Everyone, I bet everybody knows eKomi. For their customers they supply widgets (javascript) which you can add to your html and displays the widget to your visitors. Some webshop alter the widget a bit and add extra html to the bottom of the widget: Company Name receives a 7.4 out of 10 out of 1100 reviews This code is dynamic and pulls data from eKomi.com. I was wondering what you guys think of this, is this spam? Will Google see it as spam?
Searching for "Company name" in Google will result in a SERP with both the company and eKomi on #1 and #2 with the same snippets based on the reviews on eKomi.com Let me know 🙂
