Does my website builder/host have an effect on my SEO?
-
My SEO ranking has been suffering over the last year despite all my efforts. Do you think my website builder/host could negatively effect my SEO? I'm using something called jigsy. They seem really good in the sense that they are very responsive to requests for help, but I have found them to be limiting at times.
I cant:
-edit H1 and H2 tags on individual pages...the same ones are plastered throughout the site as part of a "theme"
-Do any link cannonicalization, which Moz Pro is marking me with 282 critical issues for.
-and I've had numerous times I've had to search out HTML code to paste into my page because they're missing something....I may have just answered my question myself, but I'm wondering how much of a problem all of this might be for my SEO? I was looking at switching to something like squarespace recently but it looks like Jigsy has thought of that and doesn't have any way for me to transfer my site to another service..... ugh!

...and I've just learned that maybe its a sizeable problem for me to not have access to the Yoast plugin? I've known of it, but kind of figured I could figure things out myself....but now that I think of it, I think it would really help with my blogging keywords problem.
-
anybody have more insight into this one? Really trying to figure out if it would be worth the potential butt load of work to switch platforms. I know these things could be a problem...but are they a significant problem? or on par with something like giving images meta descriptions?
-
Do you think it's enough of a problem that I should switch platforms? I really don't know how I would transfer my website. I think I might have to recode a bunch of stuff.

hi, @joebordermtf if you are using a builder and you can't edit your H1 and H2 I'm pretty sure that it will hurt your SEO rank.
That means that you will have problems to make some on page optimization. Probably your site structure will not be too much flexible. In the other hands can you edit your sitemap or implement some scheme to your website?

I've got several competitors that I know have done a fraction of the SEO work I have and they are ranking above me. Desperately trying to figure out what might be causing this. One other thing I've narrowed down is that my blog is too broad; making google think my site is about a broad range of topics rather than just counseling. Working on fixing that right now.

Problem with Yoast not seeing any of this website's text/content
Hi, My client has a new WordPress site http://www.londonavsolutions.co.uk/ and they have installed the Yoast Premium SEO plug-in. They are having issues with getting the lights to go green and the main problem is that on most pages Yoast does not see any words/content – although there are plenty of words on the pages. Other tools can see the words, however Yoast is struggling to find any and gives the following message:- Bad SEO score. The text contains 0 words. This is far below the recommended minimum of 300 words. Add more content that is relevant for the topic. Readability - You have far too little content. Please add some content to enable a good analysis. They have contacted the website developer who says that there is nothing wrong, but they are frustrated that they cannot use the Yoast tools themselves because of this issue, plus Yoast are offering no support with the issue. I hope that one of you guys has seen this problem before, or can spot a problem with the way the site has been built and can perhaps shed some light on the problem. I didn't build the site myself so won't be offended if you spot problems with it. Thanks in advance, Ben

Google showing https:// page in search results but directing to http:// page
We're a bit confused as to why Google shows a secure page https:// URL in the results for some of our pages. This includes our homepage. But when you click through it isn't taking you to the https:// page, just the normal unsecured page. This isn't happening for all of our results, most of our deeper content results are not showing as https://. I thought this might have something to do with Google conducting searches behind secure pages now, but this problem doesn't seem to affect other sites and our competitors. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how we get around it?

Is there any SEO benefit to pulling a picture from another website and linking to it from a blog?
For example, if blog.mountainmedia.com were to link a product picture directly to mountainmedia.com. Would this be considered a high quality backlink?

Is Disqus SEO friendly?
I like the look of Disqus for handling comments but I'm not sure if it is really SEO friendly. Any other more SEO friendly alternatives out there (other than blogging software)?
