Seo consulting service for just one site ?
-
I make a living off my site, so everytime I have to make a critical decision on SEO, I have a lot of fear that I could make things worse and lose everything.
I can find solutions here and google, but there always a lot of different opinions, so I was thinking in hiring someone to pick his brain and do what he/she thinks its best in my case.
What do you guys think about this ? Do you have someone to recommend ? That you see his work with good results ?
I have a wordpress blog (micro businnes), so my budget is not big.

there always a lot of different opinions
Yes, indeed. There will always be lots of opinions.
If you hire a person to review what you do then you will get ONE opinion. In my opinion, a lot of the opinions posted online either in articles or in forums are flawed (including a lot of what I post). Nobody knows everything and a lot of people sell SEO services who should not be selling SEO services. Be careful.
My method is to depend mainly on myself, then when I am going to do something really important, I get a paid opinion. I don't use forums as a substitute for opinions on things that are more than a simple one-topic question/answer. People who are posting in forums generally are not going to spend hours doing a deep review your site and making complex decisions. You will not get good advice on a topic that requires a deep and detailed knowledge of your website and your business. People posting in a forum generally don't have that kind of extra time and we should not expect that type of service in a forum. I also believe that this type of information should remain private and not be discussed in the open in a forum.
How to find someone? My suggestion is to look at a Q&A forum like Moz daily and read lots of the questions. After doing that for a several months you will learn a lot. You will also see the range of people who give answers. Some might not seem like a person you would want giving you advice, others might be much more appealing because of their ability to explain clearly, their generosity and how you perceive their knowledge of what they are talking about.
Every person who has given me advice or done SEO or technical work for my website me is a person who I have met in an SEO forum. I go to different people for different types of advice and I often get two opinions on important projects. I am not telling you this because I am looking for work. I never give private consultations or do SEO work for anyone. I also never recommend people to work on the websites of others. These are things that you should decide for yourself.
Get educated about SEO. Learn who gives good advice.

Great answer! Specialy the competitors taking action before me. SO TRUE.
Do you have someone to recommend ? That work with little projects as one wordpress site for example.
Thank you!

Hey Glinski!
No matter where you go or who you decide to work with there will and should always be a difference of opinion. Simply because SEO is not a one size fits all type of service. It is a moving target and there are always several ways to skin the cat. My best advice is for you to interview people/agencies and go with what your gut tells you. There are a lot of people in this business that do it to for the sake of making money but there are also a lot of people that do it because they are passionate about it. After you interview a few you should be able to sort through and find the best fit for YOU.
Communication is critical. Draft a strategy, implement it, make changes, measure data, tweak things again, measure data... rinse and repeat. And most important... question everything. But don't be scared to make changes and bust outside the box every once in a while. If you don't, your competitors will and you will ultimately lose the battle.
Fight the good fight. Cheers!

Which one is better?
We are creating a new website and got stuck while deciding the URL structure. Our concern is which url is better in terms of SEO i.e. pune.fabogo.com/spa or fabogo.com/pune/spa and why. Also which one would rank faster if someone searches for spas in pune if both pages are same.

SEO question regarding rails app on www.site.com hosted on Heroku and www.site.com/blog at another host
Hi, I have a rails app hosted on Heroku (www.site.com) and would much prefer to set up a Wordpress blog using a different host pointing to www.site.com/blog, as opposed to using a gem within the actual app. Whats are peoples thoughts regarding there being any ranking implications for implementing the set up as noted in this post on Stackoverflow: "What I would do is serve your Wordpress blog along side your Rails app (so you've got a PHP and a Rails server running), and just have your /blog route point to a controller that redirects to your Wordpress app. Add something like this to your routes.rb: _`get '/blog', to:'blog#redirect'`_ and then have a redirect method in your BlogController that simply does this: _`classBlogController<applicationcontrollerdef redirect="" redirect_to="" "url_of_wordpress_blog"endend<="" code=""></applicationcontrollerdef>`_ _Now you can point at yourdomain.com/blog and it will take you to the Wordpress site._

Two websites vs. one for SEO
I recently met with a new potential client who currently has two websites for his business - one that is for the business as a whole and another that is specific to one of his particular services (his main service and what the overall business is known for). My first question was "why do you have two websites?" His response was that he has had a really hard time ranking well organically for his main service. He worked with an SEO company for two years and never was able to establish a solid organic presence for searches related to his main service - so he went ahead and had a site built to focus specifically on that service with the hope that it would help him rank organically for searches related to that service. The new site was built very recently (Dec. 2014) and it hasn't had a lot of optimization work put into it. The original site has a much higher Domain Authority, more incoming links, etc. My typical preference has always been to use one website and drive all traffic to that site, while building out specific content for any products/services on individual pages of the site. For some reason I'm torn as to what to do with this particular situation since his main concern is ranking for his core service, which hasn't happened with the original site. I'm concerned, though, that optimizing and managing two websites will be less effective than driving all of the traffic to one site, and that it could actually be detrimental overall. What are your thoughts? Suggestions? Feel free to let me know if you need any more details.

Django and SEO - Multicountry site - Is Django really SEO friendly?
Hi Everyone, Our client is requesting that we use Django for her project. I am really uneasy about this for several reasons. The client wants a multi-country site that is completely SEO friendly. I love Wordpress and if I had to do this project it would be a Wordpress site with WPML + Yoast plugins site. Questions Is Django SEO friendly and what "plugins" should I be using? Is there a multi-country plugin for Django that keeps or adds typical SEO features? Can you recommend any great articles? Any example sites would be GREATLY appreciated Thanks

Are Their Any SEO Dangers When Cleaning Up a Site
I'm doing some housekeeping on my website. Removing old blogs that are out of date (2008) or things have moved on. The blogs I'm removing are being 301'd to relevant newer blogs. Can this type of clean up cause any problems that affect the optimisation of a site? Looking forward to hearing your views. Christina

How to place two NADs on site (One website, 2 locations)
Hello, For our site: nlpca(dot)com we have 2 locations. One location is based out of a hotel in California, and one location is where we have our offices in Utah. Our site is about both locations, emphisizing California. Do we need to create a Utah page and put the Utah NAD on that page with separate address and phone number? What do we use as an address since we only have a hotel room in California now? What do we need to do to rank for both in the natural and also Places listings? Right now we're #1 for NLP California and #4 for NLP Utah Thanks!

Redirect micro-niche site to bigger niche site?
I have a micro niche site that performs reasonably well (page 1 at least) for it's main keywords. It is an exact match domain. To save the ongoing maintenance of a site that gets less than 10 visitors a day, I was thinking of redirecting this micro niche site to a bigger site (a niche site that the micro niche fits into, if that makes sense!) Would I lose rankings because of the power that the EMD provided? Would it be better keeping it there for the backlink it provides to the bigger site (although on the same C Class IP)
