How to write an optimal h1?
-
I am working on optimizing the content on my site and am currently reviewing my h1s and seeing how they can be improved. What is the exact purpose of the h1 and how should it differ from the meta title? We sell clothing apparel on my site. So for example- my meta title for women's printed tops category is- Printed tops for women I Patterned Shirts & Tunics I Company Name. How should my h1 differ from this?
Thanks.

My pleasure! Glad you found it useful
IMO the difference between them boils down to where their content appears. Title tags appear in the SERP's (search results) and in a browsers title bar while an H1 appears in the body of your webpage. That difference impacts how search engines and page visitors will analyze your page. That being said, search engines give more weight to Title Tags than Page Headers.
Both should provide details about the overall message of your page, right, so the best way to optimize your Title Tags and Headers is to write for your audience. Of course follow best practices when creating each.
Moz made this tool that helps with the Title (character/pixel) length. The page also offers other great info on titles as well.
Hope that helps better answer your original question! If not please let me know how I can help further. Cheers!!

Hi Bryan,
Thanks so much for sending me this very informative article by Neil Patel. I read through it, but my original question still remains, what is the fundamental difference between the meta title and the h1, and practically speaking how would I write them in the optimal way to rank for that page?
Thanks again!

Hey SEOhanna
Great question! I would go into detail about this but feel that my man Neil Patel already did an outstanding job in his article, so I wouldn't dare try to take credit.
Hopefully this helps if you haven't read it already! Best of luck!

How to optimize Google Places listing?
I have a couple friends who need more traffic from their Google Places listing. They are in very niche businesses. One is a home remodeling contractor and one is a music teacher. Does anyone know some good services to help optimize their listings? I feel I've helped them out as much as I can by getting real reviews to their Google Places page. But I feel that someone who's had the experience in Google Places optimization can pick up on something I'm overlooking.

How to optimize for a product by two names
So let us assume I am selling an item on my website and it comes in a large array of varieties. Let us also assume that this item is commonly referred to by two different names. (i.e. Cover & Case, Car & Automobile, Notepad & Notebook) Both of these names that are used, in regards to this product, have, for the sake of argument here, the exact same search volume. I want to make sure that I rank for both terms. In my Title Tags I am currently thinking about the following methodology to help that cause. "GE Motors Super Fast and Awesome Car / Automobile" "Ghostwriter Kids Notebook / Notepad" "Super Soft Pillow Cover / Case" Notice I have the space in between the words and the / but my question is if this is necessary or not? What is Google's policy on how they view that / ? Can I do this and still have Google see it as two different words? "GE Motors Super Fast and Awesome Car/Automobile" "Ghostwriter Kids Notebook/Notepad" "Super Soft Pillow Cover/Case" Apologies if this is a fairly basic question but cannot seem to find this information.

FAQS For Seo & Long Tail Optimization
Would it be ok to create a small FAQ section on the particular page I am working on using long tail keywords, all which have low competition, high search volume? I see a few competitors ranking this way, but it does not flow, its very obvious they are stuffing. Thanks!

Google VS Yahoo VS Bing & Onpage Optimization in 2011
I was just wondering if someone could point out to me any known differences between these three search engines. I feel like i have been spending a lot of time optimizing for google, but don't have much of an idea of how to optimize for yahoo or bing. Do you have any up-to date article links or tips/advice?
