AdGroup by Match Type or by Keyword?
-
Hi,
Will someone please tell me which AdGroup structure makes the most sense?
Grouping Keywords by Match Type? i.e. [pizza store], [pizza restaurant], [pizzeria], etc.
or by Keywords? i.e. pizza store, "pizza store", [pizza store]
We're basically trying to figure out which structure makes the most sense and which will allow us to earn the best quality score.
I've heard of people using both strategies. Personally, I think it should be grouped, more often than not, by keyword. This enables one to tailor the ad and landing page to the specific keyword. I am curious to hear some reasons for grouping them the other way.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi,
Generally the advertisers tend to follow different strategies and stick with the one, which gives them higher Conversions, high Return on Investment (ROI) so some advertiser grouping keyword by match type and some uses all match types in a single ad group.
When working with broader matches changes in Ad copy can be very important so it may be that you'll want to split these different match types into their own Groups to allow Ads better suited to those terms and then add embedded negative match type keywords to streamline the traffic. Now, once you accrue data, you can pause the match types which are not proving worth for you and optimize the rest of the keywords.
I wouldn't suggest going with too much of the Broad match type keywords because that would tend to bring in lot of irrelevant traffic and your much of the time and efforts would go in adding the negatives, analysing the Search Terms frequently and checking which terms are relevant and which not.
BMM & Exact are definitely good option to go for.
Hope it helps.
Thanks

I believe if you are just building out the campaign structure that keeping them in the same (grouped) by keyword theme is a stronger approach for the same exact reasons that you have pointed out.
Once you start to generate some significant data in there, you can always pull those exact match keywords out and place them in their own adgroup for further testing if you will. Intent could potentially be different but without some level of data to review, it would be hard to make the case.
I would go the route as you have outlined and go from there.

Special Characters in Negative Keywords in Ads
Howdy, fellow mozzers, I came across this weird suggestion in my Bing account (screenshot link: https://dmitrii-regexseo.tinytake.com/tt/NDY3OTc5NF8xNDgyMzY4OA) It almost that the dollar sign in the negative keyword is acting like a wildcard character, or being disregarded completely. I did some tests, it seems that in Google Ads that is not happening. Does anyone have an idea if this is normal behavior? I have never seen this before.

Broad Match Modifier - Adwords Experts
Hi All, Looking for a little feedback from anyone running/managing ppc campaigns. I'm trying to decide if Broad Match Modifier search terms are actually helping. I see many instances where they have a low quality score, high cpc and low CTR. This leads to me think that these terms are actually bringing all my other ads down due to these negative signs. I have most search terms as "Phrase Match" and [Exact Match] so i'm not sure why i need the Broad Match + Modifier terms as well. Looking for some advice from the experts ... Do you guys agree with my assessment and what is your overall opinion on the usefulness of Broad Match Modifier terms. Thanks

Google Analytics CPC and PPC not Matching
Hi Why do our CPC in Google Analytic not match our PPC in Adword, surely they should be identical? We have Auto-tagging switched on and data in our history is wrong so it is not a timing issue. Thanks

Bought domains to some of my best keywords. What should I do?
So I work in a very niche industry and compete very well with Google PPC. I was recently able to acquire domains of keywords that drive almost 40% of all our paid traffic and quite a bit of organic traffic as well. The problem is that these keyword domains carry no authority (obviously because i just bought them). Would i be best served to just do redirects with these names to my current site(s)? Or i was also thinking about setting up independent blog sites that would link back to my main site. I' was also thinking of changing the domains of my paid google ads to align with the recently acquired links.... Thanks in advance for your help!

Adwords Keyword Quality Score changes when keyword is paused
Today I was pausing a bunch of low quality score keywords for a client, the thing is, once I paused the keywords, the quality score would immediately change. For example, a number of keywords that had a QS of 3 while they were running, immediately changed to 1 once paused. Out of curiosity I un-paused one of them and it remained at 1. Has anyone else experienced this and/or have an explanation? Cheers
