Google results not close to matching MOZ PA and SA - Why?
-
I'm trying to convince a boss and another client/partner of the value of MOZ, but it's a challenge when Google's results and the MOZ analytics are way off.
For example, when I do non-personalized (MOZ toolbar) Google search for "stair lift kansas city" I see some results that make sense. Further down the page I see my prospective client, kclift.com -- it's a new site with poor MOZ grades and almost no backlinks. It has a PA of 1 and a DA of 4. Yet it ranks above a YP site that has a DA of 89, and another site that has a PA of 27 and a DA of 14.
What gives? When I used an in-private Bing search for those terms this site didn't display in the 1st 4 pages. That makes sense with these MOZ rankings and the new site. So how does the site get page 1 results on Google for the same terms?
(I should note that I've gone to this site a lot, for the client, and done other related searches. I live in Charlotte, which is why I've included Kansas City in the search terms. With this search, I've tried several ways to do a Google search that is truly anonymous, but I'm not sure I've succeeded. I've erased browsing data, used incognito, used other browsers, and used the MOZ non-personalized Google search. All from the same IP though. Does Google track that? If so, how can one do a truly anonymous search on Google?)
All suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Hi Richard,
Interesting question.
Google will for sure know where your IP address is located.
To get the search results for your keyword combination like somebody sitting in Kansas City KS you could use the "Ad Preview and Diagnosis" Tool in AdWords (under Tools). You can also chose the location, e.g. Kansas City/KS the language/device the search query would be executed on.
(Once you could simply set the location of your query on the bottom of the Google search page but this times are gone now.)
--> I can confirm that your customer appears in the local pac (3rd) and organic Serps (2nd) for the above keyword combination. I am sitting in Switzerland and checked it with the Ad Preview and Diagnosis Tool in AdWords.
The MOZ data might not be accurate yet for your client's website. Do you have a campaign for that client? MOZ should have crawled the site actually. It usually crawls a campaign site all 7 days but you can also initiate a crawl manually.
If you don't want to have search results that are taking account of your behaviour/browse history/preferences, etc. you can switch that off actually. Go to google.com on the bottom right - Settings - Search Settings - turn off 'search history'.
Hope this brings you a step forward.
Cheers,
Cesare

Robots.txt blocking Moz
Moz are reporting the robots.txt file is blocking them from crawling one of our websites. But as far as we can see this file is exactly the same as the robots.txt files on other websites that Moz is crawling without problems. We have never come up against this before, even with this site. Our stats show Rogerbot attempting to crawl our site, but it receives a 404 error. Can anyone enlighten us to the problem please? http://www.wychwoodflooring.com -Christina

How often is the Moz Local report data updated?
Greetings, After engaging Moz Local I have made several manual edits to individual account listings, but I do not yet see them reflected in the reports. How often is the reporting updated? Thanks!

Webmaster Tools shows mystery errors that Moz does not
One of my campaigns is doing great in the sense that the website has been running fault free for a few months now. Great, of course! But... in Google Webmaster Tools errors keep coming in showing older media documents and pages. And it does not say where they are from. Probably this is more a Google question, but I thought I'd try to find some answers here first. I would appreciate any suggestions and help. Monique

Moz WordPress Plugin?
WordPress is currently 18% of the Internet. Given its huge footprint, wouldn't it make sense for Moz to develop a WP plugin that can not only report site metrics, but help fix and optimize site structure directly from within the site? Just curious - I can't be the only one who wonders if I'm implementing Moz findings/recommendations correctly given the myriad of WP SEO plugins, authors, implementations.

Week ending 10/28 - zero organic results?!?!
According to my Google Analytics account - this is not correct - but SEOMoz is reporting on the dashboard that I had a 100% decrease in organic search visits - a paltry zero visits in one week. Is there a known issue or something that SEOMoz is working on?

Our Duplicate Content Crawled by SEOMoz Roger, but Not in Google Webmaster Tools
Hi Guys, We're new here and I couldn't find the answer to my question. Here it goes: We had SEOMoz's Roger Crawl all of our pages and he came up with quite a few erros (Duplicate Content, Duplicate Page Titles, Long URL's). Per our CTO and using our Google Webmaster Tools, we informed Google not to index those Duplicate Content Pages. For our Long URL Errors, they are redirected to SEF URL's. What we would like to know is if Roger is able to know that we have instructed Google to not index these pages. My concern is Should we still be concerned if Roger is still crawling those pages and the errors are not showing up in our Webmaster Tools Is there a way we can let Roger know so they don't come up as errors in our SEOMoz Tools? Thanks so much, e

What Does the SEO Moz Crawler Take Into account?
I'm working on a page that has links from some decent pages pointing to it, but a lot of them are low-value blog comments. So I'm pretty sure that its Page Authority is higher than it should be, compared to where it's ranking. Does SEO moz take the type of link into account? i.e. if it's a footer link, blog comment, or forum signature link; this should carry less weight than a link in the content of the page itself, as it does with Google.
