Keywords and keyword traffic

Hi
I am struggling to know what keywords i should be targeting and how the website should be best optimised for said keywords.
The website offers bespoke service in the lake district UK a popular tourist destination, The business operates within say a 30 km riadus of the area. So target vistors to the website would specifically be looking for services in the lake district. The trouble is for many targeted keywords for the area are quite low or no data shown.
For example: tipi camping lake district, tipi hire lake district, Glamping lake district
However nationally keywords for the service have a lot higher traffic i.e. tipi hire or tipi camping, glamping
what keywords should be my target? and should I targeting my website for?
I don't want to target customers looking for these services outside of the lake district and also by targeting keywords without the term lake district means my competition is greater as i'm competing with the whole of the Uk for serivces It can't provide.

Not sure if i made it clear above this is a clients website, they are based in the lake district and the operate from there. The scope of their primary customer would be as far reaching as the whole of the UK who would search for their service in the Lake District as well as local people searching for that service.
So local searches would I guess just use "tipi camping" and everybody else I'd hope would search for "lake District tipi camping "
When optimising the site content I guess I would need to target "Lake District Tipi camping" in the content and title tags etc. Presuming this would automatically take care of the local searches this way too. It was just the low volume traffic i was some what concerning.
I have also been focusing my efforts on ensuring a good local presence, citations, reviews google business etc.

It's important to note that Google does its best to give users exactly what they're searching for, and is aware of searchers location (for the most part). So a search for the query "tipi camping" from the lake district – if Google sees the search as a locally intended search – the searcher will more than likely see local results, like yourself.
So for starters, I would ask how you've seen Google treat those keyword searches – when you search for the query "tipi camping" from the lake district, do you see local results, or more general knowledge and national results?
Within your Moz campaign, I would make sure you're tracking for both "tipi camping lake district" nationally, and also "tipi camping" locally for your service area. If you're optimized well locally, and Google interprets the keywords you're seeking to optimize for (like "tipi camping") as a search with local intent, you most definitely have a shot at beating out those bigger brands.
So I would say not to worry too much about that search volume or the national competition for said keywords, but to put more focus on local optimization, citations, a stellar Google My Business profile, etc...

Keyword Cannibalization on Professional Service Firm
Hi all: We do ongoing SEO for a tax law firm. Their home page, which contains very little text is marked up in the title tag with the phrase 'tax attorneys and preparers.' We are getting warnings from our SEO software that individual bio pages for practitioners are cannibalizing the homepage for the keyword 'tax attorney.' Should I be concerned? Keyword stuffing
Hi all. I'm working on this page - http://www.alwayshobbies.com/dolls-houses - for the term 'dolls houses'. It's not doing great at the minute (23rd in GUK) and I was wondering if it might be down to the volume of exact match keywords on the page (32). If not, does anyone have any other pointers? Thanks!

Flash site ranking well for a competitive keyword
Hello Mozzers, Thought we'd get the group's opinion on this: This site (power lead generation) is ranking for the keyword "lead generation" on Google.ca at the 5th position organically . Does this work as a tactic for including keyword in URL structure
Howdy, I'm planning out a website and need to plan out the URL structure for best SEO value. Generally I would do something like this:

site.com/widgetssite.com/widgets/large
site.com/widgets/large/blue
etc. I think this is a pretty straight forward SEO tactic. The issue I have with it is in terms of natural language the "thing" you are searching for in this case is a widget, so typically you would type/search [adjective] [noun], or in this case "large blue widgets." So one proposal I have is to instead append the "widget" to the end of the URL:
site.com/large-widgets
site.com/large/blue-widgets
site.com/large/blue/square-widgets
etc. Obviously this breaks the whole silo concept since the square-widgets page is inside the /blue directory but the blue widgets page isn't at /blue it is /blue-widgets. My solution is to setup 301 redirects from /blue to /blue-widgets (even thought there are no site links pointing to that page). Does this seem like a good idea? Or does this break the whole folder silo concept? What I like about it is that it feels more user friendly in terms of natural language and for certain high value keywords we can get certain pairings of words into the URL more like how a person would type them in.0 -
Keyword penalty?
One of our pages seems to have disappeared from Google SERPs, I did some analysis/research into this to try find out what is going on. Nothing jumps out.. - No noticeable traffic drops, especially on/after the Panda & Penguin updates. - Thorough checks on related keywords – no noticeable drops - Anchor text – brand name & natural anchor texts - 2/3 word phrases Keyword density 3-5% in content - No Google Manual Penalty with Notification in WBTools - Robot.txt checked - Checked sitemap.xml (recently updated) I expect if the page has dropped in SERPs then the traffic would drop also.. Anyone had same experiences or ideas how this page is affected?

Any resources for targeting sites towards long-tail keywords or broad match traffic?
I've been looking around, but haven't had much luck finding info or case-studies on targeting long-tail keywords or broad match traffic. So, for example, trying to target a site about used toyotas. (Not my term, but provides a decent example) Theres more motivated traffic searching "2002 Toyota Camry" than "Used Toyotas". While Used Toyotas make more sense for a site theme from a visitor perspective, I would rather have an article on my site rank for the easier keyword of say Blue 2002 Toyota Camry. I make more money from long tail keywords than Used Toyotas. Any thoughts or references about increasing those rankings would be appreciated. Thanks.
