Is there a way to host my website.com/BLOG URL PATH from a different host than my main website.com host?

Is there a way to host my website.com/BLOG URL PATH from a different host than my main website.com host? Is it accomplish-able with DNS settings or are there other considerations that might lead to complications doing this?
Specifically, we are investigating install WordPress on a dedicated host, JUST to power the blog for our main website, but our main website is on an internal proprietary hosting and CMS. So basically we're trying to host:
website.com --> OFF OF CURRENT INTERNAL HOSTING
website.com/blog/ --> OFF OF THIRD PARTY HOSTING (USING WORDPRESS)
I know this is a technical question beyond the scope of SEO, but I'm figuring there are members of the community that may have tried this already so I'm floating it here. Many thanks!
Cheers.

The majority of the configuration needs to happen on the server hosting the main website, Alex. Because essentailly, the visitor isn't even going to be aware of the existence of/URL for the other infrastructure. They're going to go to example.com/blog, and example.com's server configuration is going to deliver them the content from someotherserver.com which hosts the WordPress install.
In addition to the proxy configurations, you may need to deal with cookies, SSL configurations and potentially other server header information that needs to be maintained between the requests passing back and forth between the different servers as well.
This is a pretty common requirement in enterprise configurations though - to keep the software running the blog from potentially interfering with or compromising the security of the main site infrastructure. So like I said - eminently do-able, but not trivial to implement.
Does that answer your question?

Thanks so much Paul! Is this something that can be setup unilaterally by the new third-party hosting company, or does it have to 'live' and be deployed INSIDE our own org as part of our main hosting architecture in order to server those requests back out to the other third party webhost?
Please let me know if you know. Regardless, the feedback is appreciated!
Cheers

Yup, using a reverse proxy is the way to do it. Not trivial to set up - you have to have a high level of server administration permissions to do it.

Thanks so much for your input! Much appreciated!

The best way of doing it (I'm sure you already know) is on a subdomain. I believe there is a way to do it via a reverse proxy (although I have never done it). See this article. Good luck!

Directing a domain.com/BLOG to a different host
Hello,
Web Design | | SharonEKG
i cant seem to figure out how to approach this matter. we have a website and a domain setup in one place and we wanted to setup a blog for that website on a different hosting, what do i have to do to link between the two to make it so when a user type domain com /blog he will get to our blog that is hosted on a different hosting plan? with the blog hosting plan we received a temporary domain that does not expire but i have been told that if i redirect to that temporary domain it wont work correctly also, if we do manage to go through that process will accessing the blog will the URL show domain com/blog or will still show the temporary given domain? is my only option is buying a new domain and just link between the two? Thanks!0 -

Hi everyone, I have been working on the SEO for this website for a while now and have had a good amount of success increasing the traffic and rankings. However our main hurdle is improving conversions on the actual website - we want to encourage more people to book a valuation. Does anybody have any suggestions on how we can improve this? The website is www.richardkendall.co.uk Thank you

For a real estate website, is a different mobile site warranted vs a responsive site?
I researched the major real estate websites: Zillow, Trulia, Remax, Keller Williams, Century 21, etc. They all have a separate mobile site and not a responsive one. The client wants it to be easy to search for properties from a smartphone. Is it possible to get a responsive version of a real estate website on a smartphone?

I am trying to plug holes in my site and the one thing that is lacking is unique videos. I was wondering what is the best way to go about videos for seo purposes? Should I just post onto a youtube channel and then embed into my site or should I look to just place videos on my site with software or should I use any of the other venders out there like Vimeo? Not sure which is the best route. Any tips?

Entering different but related industry, keep it on the same domain or new domain?
We rank well across many online furniture keywords within google.ie here in Ireland, this is our core business and it is successful. Now we want to branch out into the related field of "kitchens". So the question is do we setup a new domain (a sister site) or keep it on the same domain with a new sub category. So the main categories off the home page would be: Sofas Bedroom Furniture Dining Furniture Kitchens I know all the benefits of keeping to the one domain (the domain has age, and already has DA of 30 with many landing pages with PA from 30 to 49), so for the short term SEO angle keep it on the same domain. But from a Branding perspective this is not a great approach. Is it better to have a dedicated domain/site for kitchens (and the bonus of having a keyword match in the domain)? We are always thinking longer term so we see this as a 3 year plan outwards rather than a get rich quick. There is an additional overhead of course with managment of the domain, templates SSL, PCI etc etc and we are conscious that a new domain is not a easy route to success. Looking at the top 10 for the main keywords within the "kitchen" keyword cloud most if not all are dedicated kitchen sites, or kitchens are the main business so their homepage is there kitchens landing page. The competition in the google.ie space have 20-30 DA and PAs roughly 30 being the highest DA, we are thinking that this has not a huge challenge to overcome? Thanks for any help, assistance or comments really appreciated. Ware regards, Eunan @ Love Furniture

How to set up Wordpress on our Germany Host?
Correct me if I am wrong, but for SEO purposes, it is best to host your website in the correct country? I set up hosting in Germany for our new website, but now I am concerned on how to set up our wordpress website through our german host and setting up the database. Or would I be safe to host it in the US? Can I set it all up in English and then translate it to German and then upload it that way?
