Why my logo is showing in map pack results
-
I run the SEO for a multi-location retail company. All of our locations, except one, show our cover photo from GMB in the map pack in the other city the logo shows up. Why would that happen and how can I change it? My competitors have much more attention-grabbing pics than a logo.

Very helpful, Daniel, and congrats on the good ranking!
Here is what I would do to try to jog Google:
-
Remove the logo image from the dashboard
-
Upload 5 new high quality images to the dashboard, choosing one as the profile image.
Google just wasn't showing me very many photos for this business and I think you should take away what you don't want and give them more to choose from among photos that you do want. Give that a shot. The change could be immediate or could take a few days. If you try this experiment, please follow up here if you can to let me know what happens.

Search "escape game new orleans" and it should be the first one that shows up. The Escape Game.
All photos are there in GMB and are high quality and within Google guidelines. Like I said, not an issue with any other location.
The logo is in the dashboard.
There was another photo previously but now it is suddenly the logo.

Hi Daniel!
If you're able to share the client and search term so that the community can actually take a look, that would definitely help narrow down feedback to what is most relevant to your scenario. If you don't have permission to do that, though, it's okay. Advice will have to be a bit more general, in that case.
I have some questions:
-
I want to just confirm that you are talking about the image showing up WITHIN the 3 pack in organic search ... not something you are seeing in Google Maps, and not just the image you see on your solo Google Business Profile. Is that right? We're definitely talking about the 3 pack image here?
-
What is showing up as the cover photo on your Google Business Profile when you do a brand name search for your business? Is it the logo or is it one of your actual photos?
-
Have you uploaded the logo in your Google My Business dashboard, or are you saying it's not in the dashboard and Google is pulling it from elsewhere?
-
Are the photos that you have uploaded for this location of high quality and in alignment with Google's guidelines?
-
Has the logo always been what you've noticed on this listing, or was it previously showing a photo and then suddenly started showing the logo?
Please, let me know!

Google maps SEO
We rank #1 for our main keyword and location, however, the top 3 google maps listing doesn't include us. We have more reviews than any of our local competitors (they have around 1/2, we have 25 all 5*) & we only seem to appear as an ad on maps listings. What can we do to resolve this?

GMB listing not showing for local searches
Hi all, I've optimised an existing GMB listing that has been in place for over a year. The client is a yacht/boat broker and marine repair outfit based in Mallorca. When I search for terms that they 'should' be ranking for on Google and on a Maps search, they are nowhere to be found, yet their listing does show when you type in their company name. I've read lots of Local SEO guides and followed their advice but I'm not sure what I'm meant to do next?

Evidence that high organic rankings impact positioning in the Google local pack?
I'm looking for articles/evidence that if you have a high ranking organic listing that it will improve your chances of being in the local pack. I came across this about a year ago, but I have had trouble finding articles to support this. Does anybody know of any recent articles and/or studies that show a correlation of high organic listings and local pack visibility? Thanks!

Citations & Snack Pack
One of our clients have two business names. Alpha Paving Industries and Alpha Roofing Industries. -- both have the same address. Couple questions- 1.They changed their address a few months ago. On your listing for both companies ...you show a "Suite A". Google and Facebook do not that the "suite A"....why does it show up still? 2. One each- there are inconsistencies. On Alpha Paving, Alpha Roofing shows up...same thing with Alpha Roofing, Alpha Paving shows up as inconsistent. This affects the score I imagine? How can it be resolved so the inconsistencies are gone. 3. To get on the "snack pack" your citations have to be perfect. Will this keep both Alpha Paving and Alpha Roofing from getting in the "snack pack"? Thanks you! Craig

Google “My Business” Map Listing
We are Heritage Printing & Graphics, serving 2 areas (DC & Charlotte, NC) with Commercial Printing (books, magazines, catalogs) and Event Signage (banners, backdrops, custom displays) Our current location in NC is 2739 Interstate St. and we will soon also occupy 2731 Interstate St. (next door) which we would like to promote as Heritage Custom Signs & Displays. Do you think this is a good idea as far as Google “My Business” map listing? Thx, Kevin Smith

Google My Business- Will a large service area dilute local search results?
I am considering adding our actual service area to our Google My Business profile, but I don't want this to dilute our local search results. As it is, we come up in the top 3 or so when searched in our HQ's city and several nearby cities when you search for us in Google Maps (although when I look at the top 10 organic for Google for some reason when you search for these cities + our keywords Google doesn't show any local results). Our actual service area is fairly large, comprising the states of CA & Hawaii & parts of CO, AZ, and UT. I would be adding the service area by zip code rather than radius, as a radius wouldn't make any sense in this case (particularly considering the distance between HI and CA). Is it better to keep our relatively high ranking in local results? Will adding the service area not affect local results negatively? Also, do you know why Google isn't showing me local results when I look for our keywords + our nearby cities? When I look for these keywords in larger cities like LA or San Diego, Google always shows me local results.

Different Search Results Depending On Location
Hello all, I was talking to a client earlier this week and they were telling me that they were not ranking fora desired keyword term. When I, however, ran a Google search for the keyword term in question, the client's website was showing a ranking on my end. We are both located in California. I'm in Southern California and they're in Northern California, but I don't think that should make a significant difference should it? Anyway, I've never run into such a quandary before and am curious to know if any of you out there can help me better understand why we're receiving different search results. Any and all insights are welcomed and appreciated.

Google Maps: Submitted Feedback Changed Results
I came across something interesting today. So there is a business in one of my clients areas that had submitted and was being listed on google maps for some spammy locations. I went in and submitted feedback informing google of bad listings. Within 30 minutes or so my results for the same key phrase was different. I decided to see why. I went to other browsers on my computer and searched that key phrase and the results went back to how I originally saw them before the feedback submission. I then erased my browsers cache and after this the results now showed the original results. Does anybody know what cookies and such get placed in a browser that affect listing results? Sincerely, Garret
