My website under a penalty how to recover from it
-
Hello Moz community
I am running an amazon affiliate blog and from the last 8 months it was going great but 2 months before i noticed that un-natural and spammy chinese anchors links are getting indexed and they were getting indexed continuosely day by day. I thought there is no problem with that so few of my fellows said its not a big deal so i didn't take any action.
Within few days my rankings dropped and keep dropping continuously and from featured snippet i moved to page 9th of google. Can anybody help me with how should i take steps to remove the penalty.I think that site is hit by penguin.
My only page http://17oxen.com/best-external-hard-drives is affected and all the spammy links were indexed on this link all other remaining articles are not affecred as google said that they will penalize only the specific page not the whole domain.
Guys i would like to know your recommendations and any kind of help.
Thanks

No i didn't received any message in manual action section of webmaster but in which routine the links were getting indexed and the page was moving back from SERP i noticed that it can be a penalty.
I have extracted a list of almost 150+ domains pointing to my site with Chinese anchors , guestbooks, other language websites with high spam score and so on.Almost half of my link profile was filled with spammy referring domains.
Almost 2 weeks passed since i submitted the disavow file. Can i ask for reconsideration request while i have not received any message in manual action.?

Was it a manual penalty? However - Bad Links are still something you should take care. I asked John Mueller just because I got spammy Links from chinese pages. He said if you know a problem with links, take care - google is not penguin only (penguin would "kill" the links by itselfe).
So make a list with bad links - all the bad links and disavow them. If it was a manual action you need to make a reconsideration request for your page in GSC.

Any advice for a bootstrap retail website trying to grow our backlinks?
Hi there, Our online business https://www.irishcelticjewellery.com is based in Ireland but targets USA and European markets. We have been heavily focused on Adwords as the primary traffic source, and a few months ago attempted to revamp and fine-tune this, which negative results. I believe we moved too fast and changed too many configurations too quickly. Organic traffic has been neglected, and so has stayed flat at approx 10% of traffic, however analytics suggests that the majority of these visitors have less than 30% bounce rate, view more than 6 pages/visit, and have been the source of more than 50% of our sales over a 2 year period. Based on this, I see a huge need to focus on organic now, and I'm wondering if you have any advice on building back-links. I have begun listing the website in as many relevant business directories as I can find, and we recently began pushing the website on social media as much as our budget allows. I'm mainly considering targeting complimentary websites, asking them to link to us in exchange for a 4-5% of each sale originating from their backlinks to us. Is that a realistic approach to building backlinks? and do you think this kind of arrangement will be well-received generally? We're a small operation, with a tight budget. Also, Is social worth pursuing? Thanks in advance, any advice is much appreciated. Alan

Advise about Social Sharing between two loosely affiliated website - (retweets/fb cross sharing)
So basically, I have two websites. One being my Primary website and another which is very Niche/Seasonal. Now the Niche website received a penalty, and was later re-included however google traffic has been extremely limited since being reindexed. (bing never had a problem, still top ranked) I don't directly link back and forth between the two websites because its not worth hurting my primary websites ranking. I'm sure google knows I own both anyway, as they are on the same webmaster tools but the Niche site was kicked for spammy link building & its been an endless process removing them all. Anyway, with that being my concern. Would it be acceptable to cross share facebook posts, retweet and do things like that on occasion? My primary reason for asking is because the Niche website has a very large social following, so I would like to share post/tweets from my Primary site when its relevant and vice versa. Appreciate any suggestions/comments. Thanks!

Merchant´s data feed for affiliates is the same content as their own website...
Hi Some advice appreciated. Started working on a site and found out that they are giving their unique content to their affiliates (an XML feed so appearing on another domain). In this case, if they want to provide the data like that, how can we protect ourselves? Should we use author tags in our html, is that necessary? Is there any fix other than "stop doing that and give them different content"? Thanks

Why Does This Website Rank?
Hi, I was looking over some mobile phone deals today and after search for Blackberry Torch Deals in Google UK I came across this site - http://www.phoneslimited.co.uk/Blackberry/9800+Torch.html When I hit the page I was amazed it was ranking #1 because it literally just lists affiliate link after affiliate link. The page has next to no unique content and keyword density is non existent. In fact, the whole on page seo is just whack. So why does it rank so well? The site seems to rank well for a variety of similar keywords? I think we could learn a lot breaking it down
