Buying a blog that already has links and authority
-
Hello,
I hope all are well and keeping safe. I am about to launch a brand new website and am looking to get a slight boost of links to get started. I looked on Fiverr, but realise that this may not be the best option. I have found a blog for sale that matches with a section of my niche. SO have a couple of questions:
1. Is it still worth buying blogs and doing a 301?
2. If yes, would it still work if i 301 these to a category of my main blog?
3. According the moz tool, it has a spam score of 2%, I am attaching an image of the spam score from moz.
I am a bit lost and would appreciate any feedback on best practice or if anyone has tried something similar.
Many thanks
Shehzad

Don't take shortcuts like buying a blog. Even if it has a huge domain authority / PageRank and visitor volume, which it probably doesn't if it's for sale and you can afford it, it's still only one site linking to yours and you need a lot more than that to increase rankings and traffic.
Build new, original content yourself or pay someone to do it for the money you would have spent on buying the blog.

Shehzad,
It's probably not worth it. If you're not experienced at valuating domains and links, it would be best to stay away. To be identified as spam early in a domains lifespan is a tough thing to get out from under.
If it helps at all, you have to consider that it won't be much and it won't be for long. Google is also a registrar and it can recognize who owns what sites, when they change hands, and combine that with when a domain changes hands and all of a sudden, everything from one site is pointing to another. Not that that doesn't happen regularly in business for good reason, but be aware.
Also, beware of people who are selling domains with "good" backlinks. Very often, those links just window dressing to make the domain look more valuable than it is. That it has a low spam score could just mean that the domain is new or that bad backlinks are new or that moz hasn't valued the links correctly.

yes it is good if links are related to you blog.

Rank drop after link reclamation
Link reclamation is good activity interms of technical SEO and UX. But I noticed couple of times rank drop post the link reclamation activity. Why does this happen? What might be the cause? Beside redirecting to the most relevant page in contest to the source page content; anything else we must be looking into?

How do I deal with Negative SEO (Spammy Links)?
For the past 12 months, our website has been hit by spammy links with annoying anchor text. We suspected one of our competitor are deploying negative SEO on us. The image is an example of the sites and anchor text we have been spammed with. The frequency is about 1 - 2 spammy links a day. I have a few questions from here onwards: Does those links affect our SEO? (Most are mainly nofollow) Other than disavow, what other stuff can I do? How will google and other search engines see this incident? TcmFsti

Internal Links to Ecommerce Category Pages
Hello, I read a while back, and I can't find it now, that you want to add internal links to your main category pages. Does that still apply? If so, for a small site (100 products) what is recommended? Thanks

[linkbuilding] link partner page on webshop, is it working?
Hello Mozzers, I am wondering about the effect of link building by swapping links between websites and adding a link partner page to the web shop containing hundreds of links. I have this new competitor coming in to the SERP of Google competing on the keywords I am targeting. The competitor has way more links than our web shop. The competitor has a page with hundreds of links to other web shops witch on there turn has a link to there web shop. (not all off them link back btw) I always thought it is no use sharing links with other websites this way in creating a huge page with hundreds of links. it is of no benefit for neighter website to do this. Still it does seems to work (?) and tis strategy is used by a lot of web shops in the Netherlands. How are you guys looking at this?

Better ranking competitors have paid links from blog pages
I have a trial of all the tools at the moment and it's a lot of fun. I have been delving into site explorer and found that some competitors have links to them from obvious seo promoting paid blog sites. One has no other links except a paid for blog from a site that openly admits it offers paid marketing and they shot up to 4th on page one for a main keyword phrase. The info from moz and matt cuts video's say not to do this, but it's so tempting. The blog is well written, while I sit here and do the right thing, my competitors have page one. If the blog is well written and is meaningful is it OK and if google ever decide it's paid and don't like it, wouldn't it be better to be page one for 6 months and then recover? I'd love to give the link to the seo, blogger thingy but don't want to come across as promoting it in any way. I am sure there are loads of them anyway.

Are links from directories good or bad?
I've done a lot of competitive link analysis lately and found that a lot of my competitors links for a certain keyword are coming from low quality directory sites and they're outranking my site. This leads me to my question which may or may not have an answer(I at least hope it fuels a good discussion)... Are links from directory sites good or bad for SEO?

Links to partner sites
I have some partnerships in some portals, usually I put the banner of my company with a link to my site on a space partners. How should I proceed? To place the banner no link? To put the link nofollow? Can’t I do it? Don’t I need to worry about it?
