What are the technical details (touchpoints) of a website gathered by Google?
-
Hi all,
Google crawls all the webpages and gathers content to index and ranking. Beside this general info, what are the all other possible technical details Google will be gathered about a website to rank or penalise or optimise the website in SERP? Like IP address, DNS server, etc.......Please share your knowledge and ideas on this.
Thanks

Google uses a complex algorithm to rank webpages in its search engine results pages (SERPs), and it takes into account numerous factors beyond just the content of the webpage. Here are some of the technical details that Google may gather about a website to help rank, penalize, or optimize it in SERP:
Page load speed: Google considers page load speed to be a crucial factor in its ranking algorithm. If a page takes too long to load, it may be penalized in the search results.
Mobile-friendliness: With the rise of mobile devices, Google now prioritizes mobile-friendly websites in its search results. Google looks for responsive designs, mobile-optimized content, and fast loading times on mobile devices.
Domain age and authority: The age of a domain and its authority can impact its ranking in Google's search results. An older and more established domain may have a higher level of authority and trustworthiness, which can help it rank higher.
Backlinks: Google takes into account the number and quality of backlinks that point to a website. A website with a high number of quality backlinks is often seen as more authoritative and trustworthy, which can help it rank higher.
Content freshness and quality: Google looks for fresh, high-quality content that is relevant to a user's search query. Websites that regularly update their content and provide valuable information are often rewarded with higher rankings.
HTTPS encryption: Google now considers HTTPS encryption to be a ranking signal. Websites that use HTTPS encryption are seen as more secure, and may be rewarded with higher rankings.
IP address and server location: While Google doesn't penalize websites based on their IP address or server location, these factors can impact a website's load speed, which can in turn impact its ranking.
Duplicate content: Google penalizes websites that have duplicate content or content that appears to be copied from other sources. It's important for websites to have unique and original content to avoid being penalized.
User experience: Google takes into account the overall user experience on a website, including factors such as site navigation, layout, and accessibility. Websites that provide a good user experience are often rewarded with higher rankings.
Overall, Google takes into account numerous technical details and factors beyond just the content of a webpage when ranking websites in its search results pages.

Hello,
Some technical factors:
- Internal linking structure
- Architecture and Crawlability
- Https (Http secure)
- Existence of Meta description
- Site speed
- Keywords included in the domain
- Use of flash
- Domain .com
My two cents, I'm sure there's much more out there
Hope this helps!! If you like the answer, don't forget to select it as BEST ANSWER

Google stopped showing time frame for the cached results of the websites; Why? Any alternatives?
Hi Moz community If we Google "site:website.com"; it'll list the cached pages from the website. And we used to check them on required date range like how and which pages got indexed. But date range is not working now and the results are missing the pages which got indexed at the selected date range. Any idea why Google does this? Any alternatives to find the recently indexed pages? Thanks

Website and landing pages - Proportionate authority
Does website's (homepage) ranking going to influence landing pages ranking or vice-versa? If the homepage is ranking good for a "keyword", will that improve ranking of other landing pages which are optimised for related "keywords" & Vice-versa?

Parallel mobile website
After researching and comparing desktop keywords vs mobile keywords, I came to the conclusion that they are pretty much the same, with minor variations. The new keywords for mobile website do not have a great potential for bringing in much traffic. If I don't want to go after those new mobile, do I need to build separate links to our parallel mobile website (URL) to rank better or the link building for my desktop website would be enough to rank for my parallel mobile website as well?

Why would Google read different pages to rank for a keyword?
I have noticed a large drop in a number of keywords in the latest rankings report. I have checked the results on the 'Ranking History Graph' and it appears that Google is reading different pages for the specific keyword and therefore, giving large fluctuations in ranking dependant on the page from week to week. Why would this be happening?

Top 5 most optimized websites
Throwing this question out to the community but was wondering if anyone can direct me on how I can find the top 5 or 10 ten sites that have been most optimized for search engines. Meaning which web sites have the best reputation when it comes to website optimization for search engines or is there a resource where I can read about websites that have been ranked as the best when it comes to following best practices and have constantly ranked well within their industry? Figured it's always a good idea to learn from the best by looking at what they are doing. Thank you.

How do you get photo galleries indexed on Google News?
I work for a news site and some of our photo galleries get indexed by Google News while others never do. I'm trying to determine why some are more successful than others even though they all follow the same guidelines regarding keyword-rich headlines & copy, h1s, etc. When comparing what's been indexed in the past with current galleries, there doesn't appear to be an obvious pattern. Can anyone share some insight into this?

What are the differences between Google SEO and Bing SEO?
I came across this question on why the poster's rankings in Bing/Yahoo were so much lower than his rankings in Google. One of the links responded with was a presentation Rand gave about the difference in ranking elements of Google and Bing. My purpose for looking into this is to boost rankings in Bing to be more in line with my Google rankings. My takeaways from Rand's presentation were that Bing likes shorter URLs than Google and it's better to have more links from more root domains with more precise anchor text. Unfortunately this presentation was given at last year's SMX Advanced and is almost a year old. Since then Microsoft has been accused of basically scraping the Google SERPs and Google unleashed at least two maybe three rabid Pandas. Needless to say the environment has changed. So my question is for those people who are happy with how they rank in Bing: What SEO factors are you seeing make a bigger impact in Bing vs. how they impact your Google rankings?

Organic CTR on Google - KPI?
Hi, I was hoping for some advice on my keyword analysis I have completed. So far I have identified a hitlist of high volume keyword associated to the industry I operate in. As well as this, I'm monitoring our keyword positions within the SERPS. Question: Is there a CTR metric available depending on the position your keyword ranks within Google? i.e. If I am position 3 and looking to move to position 1 on a specific keyword, what amount of incremental search volume would be geneerated to my website? PResumably the CTR would also depend on what market you operate in too I am also going on a 65% / 35% Organic/PPC split based on keyword search volume so to give me a true reflection of the search volume available... Any advice on this would be much appreciated... Simon
