How to Reduce Spam Score for Your Website
Spam score is a measure used by Moz to indicate the likelihood of a website being penalized by search engines. A high spam score can negatively impact your site's ranking and credibility. Here's how you can reduce the spam score for your website:Remove Low-Quality Backlinks:
Use tools like Google Search Console to identify and disavow low-quality or spammy backlinks.
Reach out to webmasters of low-quality sites linking to your site and request link removal.
Improve Content Quality:Ensure your content is unique, valuable, and relevant to your audience.
Avoid duplicate content and thin content that doesn’t provide value.
Enhance User Experience:Improve site navigation to make it user-friendly.
Ensure your website loads quickly and is mobile-friendly.
Avoid Over-Optimization:Use keywords naturally and avoid keyword stuffing.
Ensure your meta tags, titles, and descriptions are unique and descriptive.
Check for Technical Issues:Regularly audit your site for broken links, 404 errors, and server issues.
Use HTTPS to secure your site and gain trust from visitors and search engines.
Build High-Quality Backlinks:Focus on earning backlinks from reputable and relevant sites.
Engage in guest blogging and provide valuable content to authoritative sites in your industry.
Maintain a Clean Link Profile:Regularly monitor your link profile for any new, potentially harmful links.
Use tools like Moz, Ahrefs, or SEMrush to keep track of your backlinks.
Improve Social Signals:Increase your presence on social media platforms.
Encourage social sharing of your content to build natural links and traffic.
By implementing these strategies, you can gradually reduce the spam score of your website and improve its overall health and ranking. -
Our best advice is, don’t ever get links from a spam website, we had spam websites linking to our demolition business, it negatively impacted our seo.

Hi there,
Jo from the Help Team here.
Moz's Spam Score is the percentage of sites with similar features we've found to be penalized or banned by Google. To improve this score I would recommend reading our guide which explains the 27 factors used to make up this score. You can then look at your site and investigate areas you would like to improve on your site:

Best of luck!

Site Crawl 1-page 301 status error but httpstatus.io says its 403
I am trying to run a site crawl for my website and MOZ is only resulting in 1 page crawled with the home page URL Status Code of 301. However when I run it in httpstatus.io it is giving me a 403 status error. Im curious as to why MOZ is saying its a 301 and httpstatus.io is saying 403. Is there anything I can do in MOZ first to get the site crawled before asking my developers to look into the 403 error?

80% Spam Score!! Can Any One Help?
I have a question about the Spam Score for my website .
Moz Bar | | PoppyP
I have run a Spam Score for https://www.poppyporter.co.uk
It has come back with an 80% score because there are 4 links that are apparently from my poppyporter.com domain each with a 69% spam score.
This poppyporter.com domain is parked and I have no idea why there are links from it. There are no pages there and there never have been, I've never used the poppyporter.com domain only poppyporter.co.uk.
I don't understand why there are links there and why they are making my Spam Score so high.
Will they affect my site's SEO? Do I need to worry about them? If so how do I get rid of them?
Can you help?
Thanks very much Poppy1 -
Why is on-demand crawl reporting numbers that are very different than the regualr site crawl by Moz?
When I look at the site crawl available through my dashboard, it reports 22.9K pages crawled. I just ran a on-demand crawl and it is only reporting 6K pages crawled. Why is the number so much lower?

Has anyone had to deal with Moz crawl issues on their Zendesk support site?
If so - how did you end up resolving them? For instance we have 85 "temporary redirect" errors from our Zendesk support site in our crawl error report and we don't have access to the robots.txt file through Zendesk.

Open Site Explorer Problems
I've been checking open site explorer for months now. It doesn't show any changes in the number of root domain links to any of my pages, even though webmaster tools shows a substantial increase in root domain links for each of these urls. Open Site Explorer doesn't seem to be updating. According to Moz, my site is regularly indexed by Moz. But the numbers don't change. I've tested this on a few other sites as well with the same results. How do I get OSE to update the numbers for a particular website?
